Can't find the document, but Riot said something along the lines of, "We don't like it when people just 100-0 you with no counterplay, leaving you going 'WTF!' instead of feeling like you were outplayed."

That's the basis they used on reworking the assassins.

But then I look at all the ADCs that do just that, all the mids that do just that, all the tops that do that... I don't understand the double standards.

Definitely not just Riot pandering to whales though, nope.
