Plant Videos Showcase Lack of Necessity
I don't mean to say that the plants are totally worthless, but the videos did a very poor job of showcasing a necessity, based on the champions they picked.
Healing plant:
, though perhaps not quickly enough to outdo Karthus's ultimate, can go into Mega to gain health. And most I know build Bork on him at some point to synergize with his W passive, so he can also lifesteal.
And on the flip-side, it shows how unfair such an addition would be specifically against Karthus, whose main strength is in having the awareness to time his forever-cooldown ultimate correctly.
Sight plant: (even if using Lee was a joke)
gains sight of enemies he hits with Q or E. Had he thrown that same Q, he would still have hit the Nunu in the video and killed him. And even if he had hit the dragon, that Nunu was low enough to die from an E and the R Lee used for the last hit anyway.
Exploding plant: (At least they didn't use Ziggs)
can knock opponents away, then use two different movespeed boosts.
It was an informed decision to pick now-popular champions to showcase the plants. But those champions are popular because they have such strengths already.
It may have been wiser to use champions who don't already have those strengths, to show why the plants are actually helpful. Examples:
- Pantheon, who has no shield or healing and buys no healing in general, would have been a good choice for the healing fruit.
- Zac would have been good for the sight plant, as he has a method to get over the dragon wall but no abilities that grant sight.
- Darius, who has only a melee-range slow and no mobility of his own, would have worked for the exploding plant.
But as it stands with the videos that showcase the plants, they've proven their lack of necessity.
