After playing a recent 4v5 in ranked, I don't believe in ELO Hell anymore

Yes, I was on the team of four. Our teammate left just before two minutes in. The entire game, the enemy teamed abused the hell out of the 4v5. But, I learned that game how to play from behind better. Coincidentally the next game my team rolled. Almost as if the game was stacked in our favor.

So no, Elo hell does not exist. Those games are simply to improve your skills in some sense, and in time a counter balance will arrive. Be honest, you've been the team of 5 before where you win literally because it's 4v5 and pretty much only that. Sometimes you get free wins, sometimes free losses. Either way, you're learning, whether it be maintaining a lead or to play from behind and capitalize on mistakes.

That game, a Silver IV 4v5, actually legitimately taught me a lot. Probably one of the most informational games I've played, because I learned how I need to properly ward if behind, and how to play when at a disadvantage, and I learned how hard I can be punished for small mistakes, like forgetting to ward or not sweeping a brush.

I dont want to call you names... but your anecdotal evidence story is... just really dumb. Here is why.

The problem is, you get free losses... about as much as you get free wins...

If your breaking even in free loses and free wins... your not advancing out of your Elo are you? Between AFKs and troll feeders in my last few ranked matches... I went from 100 LP to break out of Bronze 1, back down to 50 LP on a losing streak...

My last gem of a game had a player warning us that another player was just in a match with them and fed... we didnt listen, and sure enough, they fed their ass off, 2/16/3. They only got the 2 kills cause we all tried to intervene to kill the enemy before they could kill our feeder and they managed to get a kill durring the cluster fuck. When I say feeder, I dont mean they were bad... and kept over extending, I mean after they died 9 times they came to my lane mid and ran right under the enemy turret and 1v1d Oriana NO MINIONS, just to give mid lane some extra gold, and then went top and did the same, then back bot lane to finish feeding the enemy ADC/SUP...

So while I want to break out of Bronze so I hear less "LOL Bronze stfu" nonsense, I also want to punch the wall a lot because its a constant stream of 2 steps forward 3 steps back it seems.

Another point.

You are correct in that the matches can be learning experiences, but its hard for some people to grow when the challenge isnt consistent. Either theyre getting butt-fucked by their team only have 4 people, or theyre getting a free ride cause the enemy team only has 4. Growth and skill development isnt very organic when a player cant measure why what they were doing was succeeding if it was only working in a 5v4 context. So without consistent challenges to learn from, some players will have a harder time developing skills.

Last I want to say to you, there isnt much to learn from your 5th 4v5 match out of 10 games that has the enemy snowballing a 5 kill lead inside of 10 minutes. Some people still see the path to victory, but on average in the lower Elos, they just start crying "ff @ 20" and have already mentally given up, and arnt trying anymore, just going through the motions to avoid getting reported for going afk by the rest of their (understandably) bitter team. You cant win with that, there is nothing to learn, and since it happens so often, its explained away as Elo hell.

So if Elo hell dosnt exist, what do you call an Elo where a way above average number of trolls and AFKs exist? The best Elo? Really unpleasant but not hell yet Elo? Smelly, ugly, and full of baddies that gate your advancement Elo? Face it, at the bottom, there are a ton of dimwitted lowlifes that are eternal losers, and they try to drag you down with them like the Swamps of Sadness in the Never Ending Story...
