Even if you lose to something actually broken that you could have ban out, it is often not worth the tilt you would get from laning against Zed with any puppet that doesn't straight up counter him.

If you are playing say a Sona or Alistar, sheer presence of Zed turns you into stun bot, who's only purpose is to disable Zed right after he ults. Until super-lategame using your abilities for anything else while Zed is alive just too often means a lost fight.

Against an assassin the support should always be by their adc ready to exhaust and peel (which honestly zed is a lot easier to peel and exhaust). This isn't just a Zed thing, its called playing around team comps.
Drakylon3 votesFrankly most of the time I ban Zed, it isn't because I think he's broken. He's just a pain to fight at most stages of the game, especially if I'm jungle (hard to gank and has a decently strong 1v2) or mid (just a pain to lane against). Also saving my ADC and support some grief helps.

With Blitzcrank, it becomes "You stand behind minions or you die." essentially. No matter how good you are at dodging hooks, one successful hook on you or a teammate can be devastating, especially more so in a lategame teamfight. It's just incredibly irritating to play against.

Astôlfo1 votesIgnite has a cooldown of several minutes. Yes, Executioner's helps, but it's still incredibly irritating to play against. Mortal Reminder is a lategame upgrade and shouldn't ever be rushed. Morello's doesn't trigger until 35% health.

you kill raka by all in her early with an agreesive high damage support (aka kill lane) go with a dive happy burst team comp and she dcant do anything to stop it.

you use ignite on the adc so as you all in him her heals are less effective and you can kill him.

1st off i never said "obviously" 2ndly i dont need exhaust on a cc tank hard engage support. like

going an ap support route and do enough poke and heal to make you not as effective as soraka
and its about getting ahead if you can win your lane and put the adc of enemy at a disadvantage then no matter how much soraka heals they are behind and dont have the items to fight and trade.

Exhaust is better for peel and against assassins. Sure, Ignite helps secure kills, but so does Exhaust. And Exhaust can also help deny kills extremely well, as well as ruin dive attempts.

Soraka because she's literally the highest winrate champion in the game(55.4%) out of ALL champions not just supports, enjoys a pretty damn high pick rate so its risky to let her through and is unfun to play against on the same level as Zed and Fizz for fun-factor when you are playing against them.

to play vs blitz is easy wards ... use creeps to your advantage , play tanky all in supports who stand right in front of blitz and want to get grab to go ham on his adc . ...

It can be a few days after a new patch before winrates/playrates adapt to players adapting to the patch, so occasionally theres an OP that might not make the top 6 by their metrics, but theres a pretty good chance that you don't know better either.
Player perception tends to mold bans a lot more than actual (consistent) power champs, so that why you get perpetual zed bans despite him having not been a statisical good choice of ban for a long time. (And meanwhile Janna is rarely ever banned, despite almost always being a good ban, if not the best ban statistically speaking.)
