Even if you've never played irelia before...

Champion.gg - Irelia Top Stats, Builds, Runes, Masteries and Counters

Your chances of winning a ranked game with her is above 50%.

You don't have to have any practice on the champion or mastery or whatever. Just by picking her you are automatically going to have a higher chance to win than lose.

I'm not trying to hate on people playing irelia, or discuss irelia balance at all, but the sad fact is that in her current state she fits the definition of a freelo champion.

Edit: ok maybe i didn't make this clear enough. If you click on the link, you can find a bunch of statistics about irelia top in plat+ elo. One of these is winrate by player experience. Her winrate is above 50% at 1-5 games played. Most champions are below 50%, some are far below that. Irelia is not and for two reasons. 1 of them being that she has a really low skill floor. The other being that she is overpowered. And to those that want to dispute whether she is overpowered or not, she has nerfs on the pbe. Why? Because she is more powerful than a champion should be.

Barely over 50% winrate? http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/877/200/b90.jpg Vel'Koz, Malzahar, Swain and Galio have 53%, 53%, 54% and 55% winrate respectively.

She has nerfs on the pbe. Why? Because she is more powerful than a champion should be.

You have no fucking clue about Riot's balance philosophy, mate. They can nerf a champion to 40% winrate, just to make sure it won't endanger the next OP, regardless if the champion in question is strong or not.

That goes for every champion. Considering that skill matters way more than champion and if u are in decent elo, u have more than 50% chance to win any game.Even your team can carry u. Hell first time i played Kalista i ended up 1:9 and won game. Hell if u pick Amumu , even if u never played him before u have more chance to win than with Irelia.

That's not how that works.

i don't care, as long as singed is good.

I don't care as long as Singed doesn't have tenacity.

Yeah, she is pretty strong right now. But Irelia never was hard to play or to learn, although her skill ceiling is high.

She got a buff (q mana cost and better scaling) which was ok in my opinion, but the Trinity Force changes made her really strong. I think it is ok that she is strong, and I liked playing her even before those buffs. But it is positive that they can now nerf her ult cd, which was too low

A lot of people are playing Irelia top and simply suck with her. I have played against a lot of Irelia's recently, and I can tell immediately if they played her in the past or are just playing her because she considered strong.

The novice Irelia players I just beat easily. She is an easy champion to play and learn, but she is not easy to play effectively.

The seasoned Irelia players typically give me more trouble, I think I lost lane to one recently (my team ended up winning the game though). She hit her power spike with Sheen and froze the wave. Whenever I approached the wave she would Ult and I needed to back. Then she got a level advantage and I couldn't approach the wave.

So I lost lane, but the other lanes carried me and since she was so focused on freezing the wave and zoning me out of XP my teammates took a bunch of objectives and we had a gold lead.

I think Irelia is a pretty high skill-cap champion and she has a lot of room for out plays. I am really glad they raised the cooldown of her ultimate because it would be up too soon after she used it.

I also think a lot of players are not doing well against her due to the lack of familiarity with her kit. Prior the Triforce change I almost never saw her top.

And she is getting one of the hard nerfs based on the PBE.

Not one of those love taps that Voli is getting even though he has been dominating jungle for months.

I have always felt that increased ult timers are one of the most love tappy kind of nerfs there are. I mean just dont get caught / dont take an all in for another 20 seconds...and then do exactly what you got nerfed for doing last patch.

Damage nerfs are far more meaningful in my opinion

Yes Irelia is busted with the triforce, I dont think the coolodwn nerf on her ult which is super short in the first place will do much about it, if anything it will be one of those nerfs that ends up doing nothing but sticks around while another nerf hits a few patches down the road that actually does damage to her winrate
