Rageblade Devourer passive is really a 150% raw attack speed stat with 66% AD on basic attacks?
I really like the devourer passive but it is hard to access and the 6 stacks conditions required is tedious. This hampers on-hit builds as they are weak without stacks, but op when fully stacked.
Here's my thoughts.
The Devourer passive at its core is really a conditional attack speed stat. Getting an extra on-hit on every other attack is almost the same as 150% attack speed multiplied by 66% ad on basic attacks.
So lets say I had an attack speed of 1 per second with 20 on-hit damage and 100 ad. Upon attacking 2 times within 2 seconds, here are the results in both formulas.
Formula 1 With on-hit on every other attack I would do... (100ad x 2) + (20 on-hit x 2) + (20 on-hit x 1 from devourer passive ) = 260 damage.
Formula 2 With 150% attack speed multiplied by 66% ad. (100 ad x 66% x 2) x 150% attack speed = 198 + (20 on-hit x 2) X 150% attack speed = 60 198 + 60 = 258 damage
The results are almost the same. It conclusive to say the devour passive is really a 150% raw attack speed stat with 66% AD on basic attacks.
So a fully stacked rageblade really looks like this.
200% attack speed
48 ad
74 ap
Passive: basic attacks do 66% total ad.
No other item in the game gives that much conditional attack speed/ stats.
So my point is, if we had a new item that gave no stats but just the devour passive with no stacking, it would be fine because it would really be like saying...
item devour: 150% attack speed while basic attacks only do 66% of total ad.
cost: 3000 gold.
That way people can access the devour passive with out that rageblade ramp up of 6 stacks and on hit champs can really shine without being op.
