Given the fact Riot stated on twitter that smurfing is bad, I hope they ban it soon

Dota 2 and fortnite ban you if they find evidence that you are smurfing. Isn't hard to detech with people reporting someone who appears fishy, in which riot can look at the IP's and winrate and similar emails etc.

I'm quite a high elo player, as I have diamond 1-2 mmr atm as I got masters last season, but decayed to plat 1. My MMR didn't decay though so that's why I have high mmr.

As a player who plays in high skill games, it is too annoying how long queues take with finding a match due to players that should be playing in my MMR are instead smurfing and vsing noobs, creating "content" or feeding their egos. There is also this notion of "smurfing is to help improve" but if you wanted to improve, either bite the bullet and do your research and play ranked and make your mmr suffer if you don't learn fast enough, or play normals/draft to learn a champion/role. Doing research tends to do more than actually playing the game. If you just mindlessly grind games, you don't improve as much as doing research before hand.

If they did ban smurfing, it would also make elo boosters way easier to be detected and banned. If someone is going on a 30 game winstreak from silver-gold, it's obvious it's a boost or a smurf. But since smurfing is banned, it's banned by default and if it was a boost it was smurf/boost, so it's great.

I'm so so sick of the shitty match making in my games with just DODGE DODGE DODGE DODGE and "who's gonna dodge?". That's literally all people do, and people dodge so much because they have 10 alt accounts no matter what elo they are. So they can just dodge and play another game instead of suffering the queue time pentalty like they are supposed to get. They are circumventing the penalty and making match making garbage and take too long.

I even went to a silver players stream a few weeks ago and 1 minute from starting, he dodges because he banned his champion accidently. He goes onto his other account, dodging last season AGAIN because a 3rd party website told him he had a 47% winrate average team and to dodge. Then he finally got into a game, after DODGING 2 minutes and making match making take an additional 10 minutes in a game. This is unacceptable.

This is not how I remember league of legends being from when I started playing pre season 1 and up to season 7. Ever since season 8-9 everyone started using 3rd party websites to tell them whether to dodge/complain and everyone have smurfs that they can circumvent the dodge pentalty.

I remember back in season 1-3 smurfing was this unknown thing. Ask anyone then and they' go "what's a smurf?". Now everyone and their mother smurfs, and it's doing way too much harm than good. The good being more money for riot, in theory, but tbh, they are liking losing money long term due to players leaving/stop playing because of how shitty the match making is due to smurfing. Auto fil wouldn't happen as often if all the junglers/tops/supports/mids/adcs actually played on their mains instead of smurfing 24/7.

I just hope that day comes. I really enjoy trying out things in LoL and experimenting and theory crafting the next new meta jungle pick months/years in advance, but it's too hard to actually play the game due to smurfing impacting my queue experience. I'm not dealing with smurfs, but I'm dealing with people who dodge and go on their smurfs. It is impacting both high level play with higher queues, and lower level with higher queues + unfair matches/toxocity.

The only way they are detecting it for sure is with IRL personal information. Most people don't want to be doxed and will stop playing full stop.

Smurfing expanded with games that have f2p Models making it easy to build accounts. There was Name Spoofing for WC3 thou, folks did similar behavior in Dota Allstars to get past the Elo system built into Ban lists. Or get by a ban list.

I tried to have a conversation about the less talked about downside of smurfs, its not just the stomps that are an issue. To sink, they play to lose. To stay in a MMR, they play to lose. It makes really boring gameplay for the other 9 players. Free wins or get destroyed by some one several class intervals ahead of the curve.

And I get making an Alt account. Its nice to have a place to play new things rather then your polished mains. Or to prove via a history the thruth when you tell some one something. If I had to give that up to make the game quality better, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Boo hooo for the Youtubers trying to make more clickbait "AP ASHE MID IS SO OP WTF WHY DO I CAPS ALL THE VIDEO TITLES BETTER END WITH FIVE !!!!!" Then the build and KDA highlighted in the clip after brutalizing some one who is still learning how to CS and Trade properly.

On one hand, some people want to practice champs without tanking their main account. It's a pretty good reason to allow smurfing, in my opinion. They also might want to play with friends that are lower elo than them, but that one's not as important, imo.

On the other hand, high elo players are usually fucking toxic, and when they smurf, they bring that toxicity to lower elo games.

If someone's smurfing, the game's gonna be harder. That's just how it goes. However, what I hate is when smurfs ruin the game for lower elo players by inting, arguing, and afk'ing because they think they're so much better than the people they actively chose to jump on a smurf account and play with.

I don't necessarily agree with smurfing, I just don't want my irl info to be so easily handed over when I guard it so severely. More people SHOULD guard their anonymity and don't and they are INSANE not to. What I hate are the smurfs that intentionally tank their own MMR and drag the rest of down to do it. If you want to dick around, fine, but YOU should be the one losing all the LP, not me and the 3 other unlucky fucks who got stuck with you.

their system made it worse. they make climbing harder to "stop smurfing" but actually it does the opposite. it requires smurfs to play MORE games before getting out of their elo.
