Nerfing a champion a week after its release is incredibly stupid.
Aurelion Sol is already getting nerfed even before his price drops to 6300 IP.
Here is Riotscruffy's explanation for the nerfs "Statistically we're seeing experienced Aurelion players dominate games noticeably more than our typical balanced ranges. We thought it would be good to just put in a small nerf so that next patch he isn't totally taking over the game. PS - I think he still is strong after the changes."
This is a bad way to approach game balance. Remember Ekko? Nerfed immediately after release then spend months being a mediocre mid laner and has received at least 3 rounds of buffs since. Remember Tahm Kench? Buffed massively soon after release despite already being strong, how did that turn out?
New champions are banned 30%+ of the time simply for being new. This means that people generally do not know how to play against new champions or exploit their weaknesses. On the reserve side, people who want to practice new champions can do so outside of ranked games, in customs and in normals giving them a chance to improve their mastery without actually engaging in ranked games.
To further emphasize this point, in literally every game of ranked ive played in which there was an Aurelion Sol Ive seen at least one person say in chat "what does that champion do". How do you gauge champion strength when a significant portion of your player base still have NO CLUE what a champion does?
Riot please stop jumping the gun on balance changes for new release champions. Let things settle and give people time to learn how to play against champions before making changes. History has proven that when you make these rash changes it results in champions that are either too weak or too strong.
