Why can Sona have the kit of a support but the damage of an assassin?
Sure, she is not one shotting everyone, yet, but chunking them for 70% health is more than enough damage to turn any fight AND she has all the typical weaknesses of assassins covered Great mobility, healing, range, and she can go semi tank with minimal downside.
Her intended weakness was mana regen, and while she does has some difficulty early on,
can help to easy that limitation. Her early game is her weakest, but with that said, it still is one of the strongest early games for a poke/sustain based support. She can build minimal heavy damage items and focus on supporting ones, while still dealing crap tons of damage because of her Q and passive and her ult granting automatic 20% cdr at rank 1.
Now this would also be balanced, if she did not have one of the largest aoe stuns (or whatever it is called, maybe forced dance?) in the game on a point and click. Once again, making her able to easily escape a scary situation or nuke a few carries. Sona use to be able to do this, but only if she build a few AP heavy items like
and
.
Overall her ability damage was nerfed, but her survivability was increased making up for the lowered damage. But when you are alive longer you deal more damage, heal more teammates, etc... And with added survivability, she is almost, if not a priority target in fights over the carries, which is not a good thing for her to have. She should be back lines, looking to heal allies or stun for an engage, not front lines dueling with the enemy carries.
Her old self had a health weakness where she could pop with easy, but now it is a chore to kill her since she heals for 400+ every W (like every 3 seconds). She needs to be toned down a bit in one of her areas, damage, sustain, harass, escape/mobility, etc... because she currently s the next champion who has it all (like Lucian was a few weeks back).
