Please for the love of whatever you believe in, don't spam pings on top of someone in combat....

If you feel a single ping is in order, feel free to to use a "single" ping, 1, one.

And try not to do it on top of your ally..

It really is extremely distracting when all I see is a big red ! and hear what I would describe as a windows error pop up cranked up tot he max over and over and ping ping ping I FECKIN HATE IT WITH AN UNHEALTHY PASSION....

When you see a giant red "!" being pinged multiple times at you, it likely means "BACK THE FUCK OFF, YOU'RE GONNA GET YOURSELF KILLED!" and you should probably play it a little safer than you are currently doing.

If your ally is already in combat with the fed person then chances are they are already dead and pinging is useless. You should be pinging BEFORE they engage the fed enemy.

On the flip side, I've had people spam ping me during a 1v1 duel and that distraction is enough for me to miss a skill shot or misclick once, causing the "fed" enemy to escape with 50 HP when normally I would have gotten a kill. 1v1 fights require tons of concentration, don't shoot your allies in the foot by spam pinging them.

while I agree that there are people who misuse pings, I would recommend trying to decrease the effect these things have on your focus. playing this game isn't just about mechanics and strategy, but also about managing distractions and tilt.

What if I'm trying to be a good mid laner by warning bot lane that a "meh" fed katarina is coming to MURDER YOUR FUCKING ASSES!?

Captain Archer1 votes

then ping mia in mid. then danger in the jungle to whatever lane you suspect she is roaming toward. ping spamming is counter productive as it blocks out half the minimap so you cant see where the hell she might be if there are wards. and lets face it if they don't get the message after the above systm I stated, then they aren't going to back off anyway, thus making your ungodly amount of pings toxic af. Plus for people who are unfortunate enough to have slower end computers, your making them lag out with all the particles from your 200 pings.

Let's say that in my previous scenario, we have the ENTIRE bot lane river warded, I can see her moving bot, but being an immobile mage, I can't catch up and the bot lane isn't paying too much attention, trying to destroy a really low tower?

I'm pretty much describing you my last game as Veigar where I pinged SS AND warned them of her coming bot, but one of them still died in the process. They didn't flame me, but they looked at me judgingly, even with proper SS.

And honestly, for me all it takes is one ping over my face to get me worried. People wouldn't be pinging me like that unless they KNOW someone's coming for me, so I would back off, even if it seems fine.

I agree with you on that, that being said, spamming it helps no one. if you spam it, you are essentially taking away ALL of the vision you have on river. OP view on doing '1 ping right on you is too much' is a bit excessive for me id be fine with that. and id probably even say thanks once I as a support back to the safety of my tower while the adc sits there and lets her kill him. Then blames me. 1 mia ping on the lane thats missing and 1-2 danger pings where you see her heading is plenty. plus if theres a Ekko Diana Leblanc Katarina Zed in mid lane, your bot lane should be smart enough to be LOOKING at the map for a roam from the moment they hit level 4 and after and shouldn't even need a ping. but then I wanted the unicorn from deadpool for Christmas. I didn't get that either.

Also kat has some extreme mobility and even if you ping when shes halfway, a support that's as immobile as veigar still wont make it back before she gets there. especially since people flame you for buying boots instead of rushing a sightstone. I mean lets face it 90% of adcs will just leave a support they could easily save. I played tahm a ton when he came out and I would save my adc from dying and start running away, he would then jump out towards safety almost instantly and leave me behind to die. when if he had stayed in we both would have gotten out because tahm stops when he spits and this was when he had the movement speed going away from an enemy.

I wasn't the support, I was the mid laner, you know, how they stereotype that mid laners suck at SS? I wanted to avoid that. I was the mid laner warning an ez+Lux bot lane about a katarina running downtown.

And yeah, was dealing with a katarina, I managed to hold out, even won the game with my first tower intact and helped counter jungle their Lee sin a couple of times.

What I would do in your situation... 1 missing ping = "hey, my lane opponent is missing"

2 danger pings along the path I think my opponent is taking = "they are going this way to reach you guys"

1 on the way ping onto the enemy tower in my lane = "i am doing my best to push the tower while my lane opponent is gone"

JayHog19921 votes

Being Veigar in the situation, that's what I did. Pinged once for SS, pinged 4 times, 2 on kat and 2 on my bot lane and just went to farm AP and push the tower when possible.

I usually ping twice or three times, because every time I ping once they ignore me and die but about half the time I ping twice they pull out and don't die.

but yeah there are definitely times when a person's pinging behavior is toxic. and that I 100% agree needs to stop...

Hullabaloo9071 votes

when your tunneling hard is when the ping is most helpful, and it is easy to miss a single ping when you are doing so. I usually do two.

Hullabaloo9071 votes

I do two, but thats mostly because i think its harder to miss than a single ping.

Most people who ping multiple times are just mad.

It's not just you.

On the same note, if your ally doesn't have any way to escape, don't ping for them to be careful when there's three people on top of them. It makes you look like an idiot.
