Ranked ISN'T just about good matchmaking

I can believe that DQ will get closer to decent matchmaking but that isn't my problem with it and I explained this even before it was launched. In the video, Riot employees kept emphasizing how they're working to make the matches faster and better but glossed over the big elephant int he room.

Frustration is secondary to the fact that it's just devaluing the rank and making it meaningless by clumping every queue configuration into a single ranking. It's a ranking that isn't representative of either 5s or solo and it's just a mess. Absolutely terrible stuff! I don't know what they were thinking. It would be like if you mix doubles and singles tennis and slap a single ranking on a player combining both. You wouldn't know who the best singles or doubles tennis player is. It's completely nuts and makes it hard to take this game seriously as a competitive endeavor.

BTW: Would it be so hard to just display solo performance separately even if they still only have DQ?

Riot is all about casuals now and not the hardcore fans who really care about it. It will help them in the short run but it's a death sentence in the long run because the hardcore fans are those spreading the word, producing content, producing websites, streaming etc. and once a game loses competitive respect, it's also hard to get it back.

Honestly, Riot is probably at a point where they can actually afford their own marketing. They are not going to die out at this point just because the hardest of core players stop making those video's.

You also assuming that the influx of Casuals that they are trying to appeal to will never make such guides them selves, or support them in other ways. Riot is simply going to do better if they focus on Breadth of audience,
