A list of Toxic Champions for each lane

Śhunpo··7 votes·2,844 views

Mid lane:

Yasuo: This champion pretty much invalidates ranged harass, beats most melee matchups unless the player playing him can't space at all and just by picking him you auto win laning phase because of his borderline infinite dashes, low cooldown AOE (in a line) Q, spammable knockup and aforementioned invalidation of ranged damage and general poke (shield+Windwall). Then he picks up crit and he wins against almost every champ in the game provided the player isn't an absolute chimp, and even if they are Yas can just auto you to death with crits+Conqueror.

Zed: Pretty similar to Yasuo, only he's like the Leblanc of AD assassins, he's insanely safe and possesses insane damage. He's pretty much THE "outplay" champion who doesn't have any "bad" matchups, can win against any champion in the game due to his kit's design and he pretty much doesn't have a skill ceiling in a similar sense to Riven. Then you factor in Lethality and you quickly realise that the moment he even picks up a Dirk he can chunk you for ~50% of your HP upon hitting a Q+E with Elec from W. Sure, armour works wonders, but Lethality is cheaper than armour and armour items don't exactly give you damage. Oh, and he got overbuffed and still hasn't received any nerfs since being overbuffed, so uh yeah, that happened.

Katarina: Her rework removed most of what made her fair, besides the general speed. Tbh Gunblade just needs to be removed, that item makes her broken.

Leblanc: She shouldn't have been reverted. Too much point and click burst, really good early game cheese and chain's tether range is still fundamentally broken despite Riot having over 9 years to fix it.

Talon: Rework made him braindead, broken damage (early-mid game), low to no counterplay outside of laning.

Ahri: The Ahri of mid lane lol. Far too safe and effective.

Mid lane's "toxic champs" are pretty much all assassins (who would've guessed). The assassin update broken Kat and Talon though, so I'd be down for reverts tbh (or at the very least item reworks).

As for Zed and Yasuo, those champs just need entire kit reworks. I don't know why Zed didn't get reworked during the assassin update, but hey, there's still time to rework him. Yasuo also needs a rework, or at the very least significant changes for fairness, particularly pertaining to Windwall.

Jungle:

Hecarim: Runs you down with E and then spams Q auto until you're dead. Even if you dash away he can just R. This would all be semi-ok if his clearing sucked, but it's actually really quite good....so all in all he's toxic. He's an assassin with bruiser tendencies, he NEEDS a rework to be more like a bruiser.

Karthus: Honestly he just needs to get gutted in the jungle. He's a great mid laner (yet no one plays him) and he's toxic in the jungle due to his blistering fast clear speed and uninteractive playstyle where he just farms to win and you have very little input thanks to his godly clear speed.

Lee sin: Has everything you need as a jungler. Needless to say, this is toxic as he whenever he's changed the change affects him significantly. He should lose SOMETHING in his kit to make him fair, whether that be his shield on allies, attack speed from passive or even the lifesteal+spell vamp on W, something needs to go.

Xin Zhao: Deals too much damage early-mid and has very little counterplay besides "run away before he gets near you".

Top lane:

Riven: A one trick based champion that breaks almost every AD item/rune/aspect and lacks any real counterplay once a player nails just a few combos and possible variations of said combos. She breaks Conqueror, Aftershock, crit, Death's Dance, Lethality, you name it, she breaks it. Oh, and for those of you curious, she more than breaks Spear of Shojin, that item alone makes her extremely obnoxious.

Aatrox: His rework flopped balance wise. We've gone full circle, he was awful initially, then he got buffed and he was broken, then he got nerfed, then he got reworked+buffed and his godly again, and let me guess; when he gets nerfed again he'll be awful again? Sorry, but that's toxic to a T. At the very least his rework gave him a lil more counterplay, so I guess that's nice, but now they need to drastically fix his numbers, which will result in him being awful again.

Jax: Spear of Shojin, nuff said. Next!

Nasus: His Q did not need that buff, and his ult lowering the cooldown makes him a living nightmare. Ask any top lane main, post 6, Nasus is not fun to fight.

Tryndamere: He right clicks you and presses R whenever you think you're about to win. I don't even have to say anymore, this champ just desperately needs a rework to help fix his lack of counterplay and linear gameplay.

Tahm Kench: The flavour of the month toxic top lane champ. Get him out of top lane and back to support...PLEASE!

Kennen: Ranged top laner with extremely good CC. Honestly that's all I need to say.

ADC:

Vayne: All of her ult buffs make it so that without ult she has counterplay, but the moment she hits that R button she loses ALL of it besides randomly CCing her during ult. Please revert her ult buffs, thank you.

Ezreal: His Q being a basic attack AND an ability means that he just breaks most if not all new "things" which Riot brings out. He broke Iceborn, Runeglaive, Klepto, Spirit of the Elder Lizard....the list goes on. That and he's extremely safe and good at all stages of the game. Currently he's run as a hybrid ADC, and his burst is insane at 3-4 items, like 100% to 25% levels of stupid (one W->Q).

Kai'sa: Hybrid damage dealing champ with a really good shield, poke damage, great all-in damage, great trade potential, invisibility and she's good at all stages of the game. Needless to say, this all makes her toxic, whoever decided to release this abomination needs to really think before they act next time they design a champion.

Kalista: I'll beat the dead horse here, she can never be balanced. This champion fundamentally breaks the game whenever she's good and is next to unplayable whenever she's nerfed.

Draven: Once ahead there's little to no counterplay if he even has half a brain. That alone makes him toxic.

Support: Note: I realise mage supports are extremely toxic, but I have not mentioned any of them simply due to the fact that having a mage as a support as a concept alone is toxic.

Janna: She has a shield, great poke, an amazing disengage ult, a knockup AND her E just got buffed. A very boring, uninteractive and toxic champ.

Pyke: Ok, so here's the thing right, his base kit isn't entirely broken, it's his passive that breaks him and makes him toxic. The fact that if you don't burst him from 100-0 and he heals almost all of the damage if you don't is silly. Rework his passive into something a little less....tank based.

Yuumi: I don't know why anyone thought a champion of this nature was fair, but hey, here we are now. She's a support that possesses EVERYTHING an enchanter could want, including her being able to not be targeted by anyone if she so chooses to get inside another ally champ. Anyone who thinks this champion isn't broken and toxic must have Yuumis that don't have functioning brain or even fingers.

Braum: A staple pick in competitive and really strong in solo queue. This champion is both a passive support and an amazing aggro support, while being a tank to back that up. He wouldn't be toxic, but his passive alone makes it so that he is.

Take all of this with a grain of salt if you want, I just wanted to put this all out there. Some of this is purely my opinion of a champ's aspects. Honestly, I just wanted to cover the mid and top lane champs, the rest are just bonuses.

Malzahar Mid lane

Teemo Any role

Teemo can be annoying in lane but he's like, the most useless champ you could have on your team. Especially in team fights

MordridtheBlack6 votes

you forgot his invisible passive

When Teemo is in a game, one of two things will happen: 1) The enemy team will focus him, freeing up his team mates to push. 2) The enemy team will ignore him, and then wonder later on how top lane has been pushed up to inhib turret.

funnily enough Riot just announced a change to the passive to fix this

And he got no compensation his winrate even as support will be < 40%

What? Yes he did. His Q's early game CD is going down, his W's speed boost is now even greater come late game. Pyke is definitely getting a compensation buff for this

He is kind of a support assasinhe is not about the late game if he is weak early he is a weak champion. W is maxed last it does no damage assassins need to deal damage.

ChaosReyn4 votes

Even if they didn't compensate him, he'd never go <40%. His ult makes him the new akali - you can be 0/74, but the moment you hit 6, you can just execute the entire team once your team gets them low enough, steal your way to a pentakill, and swiftly become god thereafter.

ok... how is his ult making him the "new akali" when he was out before akali got reworked? also he is not going to go from "I am the worst champion in this game" to "I am the best champion in this game" just because he got a few kills. Also love how just out of nowhere his team is going to have the perfect setup for him to get a pentakill and he will just get it because you know... people can't flash his ult or just straight up kill him. You can hate him all you want, I despise him but stop making such dumb claims. It doesn't help your arguments at all

ChaosReyn4 votes

This isn't even worthy of a response, but I'll take the troll bait.

  1. Akali wasn't the "worst champion to best champion" scenario either, so first of all, step off your own nuts here.
  2. The fact of the matter is, because your only viable argument to why his dumb shit, gold sharing, resetting AoE executing ultimate isn't the most ridiculous thing Riot's made since Wind Wall seems to be a summoner spell, is that not everyone is going to have flash any more than any Pyke is going to always have the ability to steal a pentakill. But which is going to be the more likely scenario - Pyke ulting you from Fog of War (or his W) either before you know he's there or right after you flash away from his team, or you always having a way to dodge his ult?
  3. Since his ult shares kill gold with all allies that hit his now-dead target when he drops, even if he dove into the entire enemy team and immediately died, he shared all the gold, so his team's not put behind at all by it.
  4. If I really need to explain why "I'm absolute ass, but can suddenly kill you because I reached level 6" relates to pre-reworked Akali, you're too young for this fucking argument.

Leona Hello, did someone order CC? Well I have 3 orders of it.

I'm just gonna pick a few to hit here, and don't take it as flame plz. Just my thoughts.

Kat is FAR better with this new setup over her reverted one. Her old setup was more burst and less setup/skill. At least with this current version, you can keep away from her daggers and a solid 30% of her overall damage. As Mordrid says, I'd have definitely chosen Malzahar over Kat, because his spellshield makes targeting him, mage or not, a total nuisance and you can't really keep him from just power shoving the entire lane to oblivion unless you're playing a champion capable of pushing a lane just as hard as he does. Your options for that, btw, are pretty much Brand, GP and Ryze - Heimy doesn't even work, since his turrets catch the space aids, give him small amounts of bonus gold over the game, and at best just freeze the lane for another 2-3 waves and end up costing you even more gold.

While I agree that Susan's damage in the early game is being catered to far too much, I understand it's their way of trying to push a late game champion into viability at an earlier state. That being said, of all champions on your list, this is the one I think I'm gonna most relate to. Caveat, my reasoning is more that the fact that Riot is trying to make him something that he's not is what's toxic, more than his kit and playstyle itself. He's decently balanced in Diamond+ right now, and by that I mean he's actually on the weaker side for them...but in lower ranks, I have to say that even when the guy is bad at farming and only has like 150 stacks at 20 minutes, it feels like you deal him no damage, and he can 1v3 your team. It's likely due to just also not having good cs (and therefore good items to handle him) but his overall ratio on his scaling damage actually makes him far too forgiving compared to literally anything else. I'd like to say if they lowered the ratio on his Q and channeled that power into the armor reduction on his E, it'd likely balance out the stupidity in low elo without making him unplayable in higher elo. Or at the very least, it'd mean he needs to stack more in order to not fight you in the zone of his E, which would make him a bit healthier in general.

The one I think I need to disagree with most, on the opposite end of that spectrum, is Janna. Though she's by far one of the best disengage supports in the game, it's definitely not without weakness.

  • Firstly, if you catch her, she's dead. Shield or not, it doesn't matter. She has less HP than most champions in the bot lane, with the only exceptions being Nami (who has an actual heal), Sona (who also has an actual heal) and Lux (whose shield is even more obnoxious than Janna's)
  • Her Q is extremely hard to land unless the enemy quite literally dives into the middle of it, and her ult is, like Bard, Xin, and Gragas, one of those ults that can with no in between either win you everything, or actually 100% cuck your team instead of pull off anything good. I main support...it took me forever to actually appreciate Janna, simply from all the times I always cost my team a fight by shoving the enemy out of a killshot and allowing them a second chance at life that ended up killing us all. She has to almost always waste flash or have someone else cc first to use her kit to actually do anything offensively...so if you have a Janna in your lane, you're generally saying "let's wait and see if they screw up, or we get a gank."
  • Lastly, while her shield is indeed a great ability, I want to express that when they buffed her shield, they actually nerfed her for solo queue. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a shield buff. But they nerfed her W when they buffed her E, and it sort of hurts her utility. Though it's a solid move for teamplay, and puts more focus on what she needs to be doing as an enchanter (empowering her allies) the nerf to her utility and damage output made her weaker overall for solo queue. It's also quite the controversy. Should it be balanced more around teamplay, or more around solo queue? I feel like they moved her closer to the identity of an enchanter overall...but in doing so, they made her feel more like the old Soraka, who'd just stand behind tower and spam heals without ever putting herself even close to in harm's way.

Either way, the amount of things that have to go your way in order for you to do anything other than spam a shield as Janna make it pretty difficult to say that she's op and toxic. Riot made her a bit more uninteractive, I give you that...but if anything, that just makes her more useless and frustrating to both play as and against, and I'd like them to change it back. If there's one point I'll somewhat agree with, it's that.

Śhunpo6 votes

The problem with Janna is that she's almost always inherently tied to her shield power-wise, making her extremely volatile when she's even just a little good. If they reworked her shield into something a lil more interesting, interactive and balance-able she'd definitely be healthy.

ChaosReyn4 votes

I will give you that. Her shield is the one thing in her kit that's both fully reliable at all times, and poses 0 risk to her. That's why I preferred having that extra power in her W instead of her E - it meant she had more reason to step forward and slow someone than she had to sit at tower and spam Q and E to make it impossible for you to deal damage to anything.
