Garen's passive is just not in flavor with his identity.

Don't get me wrong, I love what you did with his passive. Garen is stronger then ever and as a sustaining meat and potatoes bruiser he certainly performs well.

But Garen is the Vanguard of Demacia! He was said to never run from a fight! To fight on the front lines with his comrades in arms.

meanwhile in game, the correct way to play him is to jump out of bushes, fight short, bursty skirmishes then run away and heal up before heading back in again.

Shouldn't he have an -in combat- lifestealy passive, rather than an out of combat health regen one? Come to think of it, shouldn't someone like Trundle, a Troll by nature, be the regenerative nightmare that Garen is, and Garen be the life stealing, armour smashing tour de force?

It fits both his game style and his character. He's a relentless charger who will never stop until somebody dies, even if you pump shit tons of damage onto him, he'll just fix himself back up and go back at smacking you about.

And it fits his character because while lesser champions have to go back to base to mend their wounds, Garen just needs a quick breather to get back into the action.

This is perfect descriptions of how his passive fits his theme. Late game Garen may not do much damage, but he is an GIANT** BITCH** to deal with because of his passive. He's going to take a shitload of damage from your team, Q to run into the fog of war, then come back 15 seconds later completely healed up just to do it all over again.

That's how he operates, he takes away a chunk of your health, he survives because he's tanky as shit, he goes into a brush for a breather, and he comes back with full health to chunk some more of your health until you're ripe for a Demacian Justice.

Yea' its literally 0-100 full heal in 50 seconds. Even faster if he picks up item 3083 item 3065

You're doing it wrong, Garen goes in, reks, then naps in a nearby bush....

Eh, i like it.

It matches his stamina and determination. While others will need to rest, Garen just needs to keep his distance for a while, catch his breath and suddenly he is back to 100%. He is simply never going to give up until he knows his job is done. You see more examples of said Stamina when you look at his joke and complete lack of resources.

It also shows inteligence. Sometimes you have to know when to quit, even if briefly, but that doesnt mean you are giving up or a coward.

But he does rest, he escapes battle to regen all the same.

He passive honestly needs nerfing. He heals up double the rate of Warmogs.

Blech.

Garen should never get tankier for doing damage. Having his basic gameplay pattern be run in, pop cooldowns, and away is the reason that he has his pokeable regen passive in the first place.

I think Garen's passive is one of the few great things about him right now, and that is coming from a garen main, in order to do anything similar to what you describe his passive would have to give him spell vamp or something to encourage dealing damage on front lines , which would be great if it was a TON of spell vamp to make up for the passive loss
