Runaans hurrcain vs static shyvv

Shyvv is supposed to be waveclear now but isn't runaans just better at that or just as good anyway? There should be a difference between them right?

Aoe burst vs aoe sustained damage. It depends on who your fighting and who your playing as. Both are wave clear however they do it in different ways.

If your playing against assassins then static is prolly better as it will fornt load damage on the target busting them hopefully before you explode. However if your against tanks Runnans is prolly better as it allows you to focus the front line while still hitting(sometimes) the back line.

I made a board about this already. People don't understand that shiv's niche is just outclassed by runaan's. Yea it's better in 1v1 situations and for some burst but it doesn't matter because riot already said that statikk is meant to be the wave clear option among crit items and hurricane will be better for wave clear and for teamfights. So you should ignore statikk as a crit item right now.

You are making the most sense out of the people responding. I was thinking that Runaans is pretty great right now. In another thread I said that I realized that building IE then two AS crit items is the way to go with jinx. Might even be the way for most adc's idk. Just started doing this with jinx only and ive only tried combining pd and runaans or rfc. I dnt even use static atm.

Now, of all the combinations, the one that makes the least sense is runnans and static. The rest seem to make some good sense. What really doesn't make sense is that runanns doesn't even work that well as an onhit delivery system. Its aoe range is not that huge. Its really only about big enough for a group of three minions. That makes it waveclear.

I was playing around with the idea of giving runaans a stackable, storm theamed debuff. It could provide a stackable aoe slow and dot. Once you get enough stacks going that enemy could have a long acting dot that they carry around. Maybe it could even apply onhits periodically regardless of if you are attacking.

It seems like runaans would help u kite overall in a teamfight beacuse of the aoe slow and would deal better dmg to engage tanks while you focus priority targets, for comps that are like that. RFC would help you keep your distance from assassins with its extra range (I think there should be a smaller permanent range buff and a larger charged buff as is currently the case). Static would be waveclear as it is supposed to be, and PD could either be a staple item (bc we are doubling down on AS crit items now and it gives good stats + really helps kite) or a duelist item. Btw would be nice to see %armor shred on pd rather than a passive that I never see a big number next to 0.o

Double crit items are very strong because of the dual multipliers.

Let me break it down:

Marksmen have an assortment of damage multipliers: ad, crit chance, crit damage, attack speed, cdr, and pen.

Penetration and cdr vary in effectiveness against certain teams and on certain marksmen kits.

Auto attack heavy champions always benefit greatly from ad, crit chance, and attack speed.

IE has 3 multipliers: ad, crit chance, and crit damage

Crit items have crit chance and attack speed

Attack speed is what really increases your damage per second and it allows you to get fervor of battle stacks very quickly- thereby increasing your damage again through another multiplier (attack damage)

If you get a Bloodthirster you only get one damage multiplier: ad

That's why going double crit items is better for pure damage output compared to something like Mercurial Scimitar or Bloodthirster.

Don't forget botrk though. It has 3 multipliers just like IE and ER. It gives ad, attack speed and the passive can easily provide more damage than a crit item could against targets with more health. Lifesteal adds to your defenses and the active is just icing on the cake.

U didn't mention the ms passive with the crit items. That makes a difference. The 12% on PD and the ghost passive for unit collision can give you better positioning. stand in front of minions and move thru them to kite.

Edit: I just meant that the crit items also have three multipliers. Its just that one of them isn't a dmg multiplier, unless you stretch the concept a bit to include some survivability factors.

Runaan's is better with on-hit and provides sustained damage, it is also not an option for melee champs Statikk is better with a more traditional crit focused build and provides burst damage

For wave clearing the burst and higher target number for statikk is generally better, you want to kill waves instantly instead of over time, plus champs like Tryndamere simply can't use Runaan's.

Dunno why they changed Runaan's to have crit instead of just AS but there still seems to be a lot of things left to distinguish it from statikk.
