We should learn from competitive pokemon and make tier lists by usage

In competitive pokemon not every pokemon is useful, so there are tiers sorted by usage to allow certain picks to be actually picked without trolling

OU = Overused UU = Underused RU = Rarely Used NU = Never used

Ubers is the ban list for OU, and in League that could be the "we need to fix this shit first" thing

Urgot isn't a very good OU champion, but in RU he could be one of the top picks.

Fuck no, I don't want to have "Oh Runaan's Kalista is banned from this because we think she's too OP with runaans", or "Rammus is too strong vs all AD comps so we banned him from appearing against you if you have 2+ AD champions". You want shitty tier lists, go play Smogon.

The only complex ban they have done was for Drizzle + Swift Swim

And for leppa berry + block + recover + heal pulse.

And for Swagger even existing.

And for Mega Rawrquaza, who was literally made into a banlist from Ubers.

Caused infinite battles.

Because of its combo with foul play on pokemon with prankster.

Literally the most broken thing to ever exist in the history of pokemon.

Don't get me wrong, I feel like some bans are a bit arbitrary on Smogon, but to suggest they just ban things because #yolo is a great disservice to their community.

I like the idea, but as a game mode. If there could be games of Summoner's Rift where one of the four options is selected at random, I can imagine that being really fun. The downside of course is that not everyone has every champion, so there is a chance that people would be unable to play. And the inability to play a game mode causes a lot of frustration for players.

And how are you going to make this work? What if most people consider AD Malzahar to be BU and AP to be OU? Is the game going to literally lock your runes + masteries into AD and force you to buy AD items? What if I get on hit Cho'Gath? Am I banned from building more than 2 tank items or from building heavy AP?

No, that it is way too specific and has no chance of seeing the light of day simply from considering the runes portion. The champion in itself would be given a weighted value based on which one has the higher playrate? +1. And that's it. They are in fact supposed to be separated by playrate, regardless of outside factors. How they are built is entirely up to the players, contingent on what they think will either win or be fun.

It's not something that would see competitive play, but would be a fun game mode unless it received better categorization due to popularity. I do think that if it were a competitive game mode, then you would need to factor in winrate, and in that case you would average out the champion:

E.g. for Malzahar, if he was OU as AP but RU as AD. He would consequently be listed as UU

If Tristana is OU for AD, but has a high winrate as UU AP, then they would both be listed as UU.

In either case you would still receive 3 bans per team, so you could always remove the outliers. Not too many champions have outliers, so I don't see that being an issue.

I think it would be a really interesting community supported game mode, however it doesn't work well in any official sense.

EDIT: Also, the power difference between the top champion and the bottom champion champion in LoL is INSANELY smaller than the power difference between the top pokemon and the weakest pokemon. You would need at most 3 tiers I think. If someone started working on this I would definitely follow it though.
