After being on the forums for a bit I have realized something.

People hate spammable/resourceless mobility. Biggest offenders being Nidalee, Riven and Kalista. Resourceless mobilty has very little counterplay. You can't catch them without hard cc and you can't outrun them. The way I see it, Riot has only a few options:

Give these champions resources on their jumps. (Don't see this happening as it would kind of require a rework of the entire ability/champion)

Make them less spammable with longer cooldowns. (Might work on some but you can't put a cd on Kalista's passive and it would hurt a champion's damage output as well as their mobility so that might be too much)

Make jumps and dashes affected by slows.

Make spammable jumps and dashes affected by slows.

Riot is making knock-ups affected by tenacity. Why can't slows work on dashes? I understand this would hit every single champion that has a dash/jump but Riot can easily tweak numbers on those that are ruined/overpowered after the change. Mobility already dominates the game. This change would lessen the gap between mobile and non-mobile champions.

I believe Kalista's passive already works this way. Because her jump distance is affected by her movement speed, and the frequency of her jumps is affected by her attack speed. I've seen a Kalista dominate a lane just by buying Berserker's boots. Nami couldn't land her bubble and Ez couldn't land over half his skillshots.

I've been trying to think of ways to balance out a couple of the champions myself, but this is pretty solid. I hope it gets more views and upvotes.

Edit: I could have sworn it was based off her movement speed. Rechecked, I was wrong. Sorry.

Does this mean Kalista can go the distance of a flash with her passive if she stacks ms? That would be hilarious.

Her passive distance isn't affected by movement speed, but by boot tier.

That's what I thought, but they said movement speed so I was not sure. I still am not quite certain if "boot tier" considers enchantments as "tier 3"

CKirk2 votes

It does not. The passive has three tiers. Tier 1 = no boots, Tier 2 = normals, Tier 3 = upgraded boots

Oh, that's actually good to know, I'll stop getting early homeguards.

Source for knock-ups being affected by tenacity? I haven't seen anything at S@20

I believe it was a Twitter post by Morello. Try Reign of Gaming; can't believe that it wouldn't at least be in a news post or something somewhere.

Either way it is legitimate, an idea they are considering over there.

Neat. I'm glad this is in talks, especially with the increase of knock-ups in the game

If I recall it Morello tweeted the tenacity/knock-up changes.

honoustly Riot made these changes to advance into a different structure of gameplay. they want strategic diversity, as is their ultimate goal and that means nerfing and buffing multiple champions and closing doors to open windows.

they don't want to revert things because the idea is that you should adapt to this style of gameplay and have a "new game" every year. effectively this means you may or may not like the changes as they come out, but to really understand the changes you have to consider what they are really trying to bring to the table.

a lot of people seem to think that they do this to make certain champions more or less strong but their objective is to make you try new things.

basically they don't want you to be playing the game the same way every year. foundations: lanes+roles+items/runes/masteries however when they lay the foundations for the year, they start building a different house every time. or trying.

although their customers are holding them back a lot

Mobility is countered by static defence. If they cant stop your slow but inexorable push they can run around all they want.
