Can someone give me tips on how to lane and farm against Azir

This is also gunna be a rant, so warning haha. I had a rough game last where I almost couldn't farm at all against him.. like every time I'd go to last hit a minion he'd send out a soldier with stupid, long range (which should not be that long because sometimes I'm hardly even near it but I still get hit) that would just do massive amounts of damage. Pots were hardly helping me stay alive against his massive amounts of damage. Now I was playing against an Azir main but and also camped by warwick who was diving me from between the 2 mid turrets with no help from my jg but that was not fair at all. I remember being able to at least farm against Azir before without being melted that fast then having to stay back and hug turret because my health is always low.

I did almost kill him in the game actually, but he just escaped with his E. I feel like he is so safe it's kinda gross because he doesn't have to be close to do most of his damage and has the ability to dish out constant damage over most other mid laners who have a combo that goes on cooldown and does not even 100-0, no not azir, he can just deal constant damage with his soldiers especially late game and 100-0 you. I feel like he also has a loaded kit, for instance I feel like he has a really strong passive and has way too much damage output. Although the turrets he creates is a cool aspect I feel like he is too loaded and that the passive effect on his W which gives him attack speed should just be changed to be his normal "passive" ability. Creating turrets doesn't really seem like a passive to begin with, its almost like a half active pretty much and I don't know any other champion with a passive like that.

Ok, so enough ranting because I'm probably "just bad" but honestly I would like some tips from people who really know how to play against him because I would like to be able to have a game I don't lose that hard in.. it sucks because I don't wanna have to ban him too. I prefer banning Fizz because I just hate that matchup the most and being attempted to be dived after he hits 6. I checked out Azir's champion.gg and his Overall Champion Matrix, honestly it looks extremely healthy compared to most mid laners.

Hes broken, ban him.

First off, that is one of the most awesome names I've heard. +1 for that right out.

Okay. Now, next, I know Azir's cancerous to fight when he's strong. He's too safe, and has too much poke, burst, and DPS.

My suggestion is to keep both eyes on his soldiers over everything else. Don't take your eyes off of them. Azir has nothing without them. As soon as they start moving, you need to immediately figure out where they're headed, and not be there. As soon as you see the sand appear for where a soldier is, predict where he's gonna try to hit you, and then start running away.

Given that his ult was changed, you have an easier time as Ahri against him, now, since you can dash through his ult after it's stopped. Keep his cooldowns in mind at all times, however.

When you see him start to move, get ready to hit him with your E immediately. If you do it right, you can even mess him up mid-shuffle, if you charm him before he presses Q.

My biggest suggestion for fighting any champion is to play that champion. There's no easier way to learn a champion's weaknesses than to play as them.

Azir OTP here. You don't. Please just ban him so Riot will nerf him more. He's disgusting. Only way to survive lane is to pick Kassadin/FIzz which isn't actually counterplay. Or duo with a Vi jg main who will camp you.

Now I was playing against an Azir main but and also camped by warwick who was diving me from between the 2 mid turrets with no help from my jg but that was not fair at all.

This is how he got ahead and dominated you.

I will assume you were playing Ahri, now you gotta use your Q MS buff to move out of his soldiers when he Qs. When he does this he can't move them again so is vulnerable to a counterattack.

Pretty much your own shot at beating his team is outroaming him and murdering his team so his team is behind so he has nobody to fight with him. He outscales you very hard, and teamfights better than you as well. He is your number 1 priority to kill in teamfights next to the adc.

Oh yeah, Azir wants to push you to turret, so that he can poke you out then take your tower. However you can turn this back on him by having your jungler camp him, this will make him either feed you if he's dumb, or play super safe and let you farm.

As for fighting azir, there are as many ways to win vs him as there are to lose vs him.

Azir has very dominant and safe poke as we all know, BUT earlygame playing aggressive costs him loads of mana. you can either bait trades with mobile champions to make him waste mana, or you can Play around his soldiers to catch him. Yes, his new E instantly preparing a soldier is annoying as all hell, but it once more gets him to waste mana which means he has to back really fast.

Second, in his earlygame, his damage from the soldiers to anyone other than the prime target (Speak creeps and champs infront or behind the one you clicked the soldier to attack) Suffer, till levevel 6...less than half of the damage he deals usually. Means 2 Soldier attacks are gonna be about as much as one average AA would hurt. You can stay behind minions, out of his soldier ranges to A bait him to move in, which is a horrible idea for any azir Player, or B, just stay safe to make him deal as least damage as possible.

If you want picks vs azir, you can either go with Fizz or zed as Assassins and Ahri as Mage. All 3 of These champions are mobility creeps with high burst and the ability to out damage and outtrade azir at any given moment.

The only Thing you Need to watch out for with the new azir is his E and his turrets. the E shield now procs regardless of hit a champion or not, which means never walk away when you ignite him, always hit one or 2 more AAs just to be safe.

Azir is weakest when he cannot use his soldiers so make him waste his Q THEN engage on him and stay inbetween him and his soldiers. his E is stopped when he hits a champ so deny him a reunion with his soldiers where he will be safe again.

Literally pick anybody. GG

Azir is garbage.

Blåbæret10/11/2017, 12:52:36 AM3 votes

You can't lane against Azir. Your only hope is holding lane with 0 CS and hope for other lanes to win. That or pick a tank with full MR runes.

Hovering Hentai10/11/2017, 12:07:58 AM2 votes

Xerath outranges him by far. Played correctly you won't need to auto him for mana the minions will do enough.

Vel'koz has the range to deal with him and the burst to kill him before he can react

Basically if you can't win lane just push the wave hard and roam

ArchMageM4gnus10/11/2017, 6:48:39 AM2 votes

No where did I see you saying what champ you use, so let me help. I was an Azir main but dropped him after the rework as I really hate the new all in Azir.

Anyway, since the rework, I have never lost to an Azir player. You need simply need to pick a mid that can actually outrange him, because his range isn't that good anymore despite what you think - roughly ADC range of his soldiers. Ziggs and Xerath can farm and poke him safely and it should make for a very easy laning phase. Malz is also good since he can push the lane much faster, and Syndra can easily kill him as he needs to be within stun range to all in you, and then you can simply R him. Annie can safely lane against him with her Q's for farm, and when you feel powerful enough, simply flash in for the stun R and kill. He's only strong if he has time to build a setup with all 3 soldiers. If you see him going for this....just retreat - let him waste his mana.

Zed can usually kill him too pretty easily - it's just frustrating until you hit level 6 and buy hex drinker.

The Deckowner10/10/2017, 11:03:43 PM2 votes

Play Xerath.

Dream High10/11/2017, 1:33:46 PM2 votes

Lul. This is why i always thoguht the people begging for AZir buffs didnt know what they were talking about. He's absolutely toxic to lane against you dont even need to be competent to avuse his soldiers to chunk out someone who dares to cs.

The Everstorm10/10/2017, 8:14:53 PM1 votes

His Q cooldown on the first few levels is very high. Bait him into using it: walk up to the creep wave and when you get that tingly feeling he's about to use Q back out or keep moving forward. From there, poke the hell out of him because he'll be very vulnerable.

Who do you play?

PiVoRx10/11/2017, 5:23:29 AM1 votes

Ask your jungler if you can farm raptors

Witness Shurimaa10/11/2017, 6:09:12 AM1 votes

Well , just get out of the lane and let him finish the game so u can start another game and u won't be forced to lane against him ..

Nah im just joking , i will be honest with u , as azir main i dont really like to face ahri she is so damn strong and she can bully me so hard she even counter my ult .. so u just had to play around ur charm and roam , and when u all in him if u have ur ult up and his hp get low most likely he will E Q away from u so try to stand in front of him it will stop his dash but be careful from getting close to his tower he might insec u but u will be fine since they nerf his ult and u can go threw it with ur ult as well and btw u should abuse ur ult when he use his q , it has high cool down at early lvls until he get 35% cdr it will be 4sec .. so u should be fine next time just focus when he use his Q and where he place his soldier "he can attack u by hitting the minions" and i usually do it because most of the players doesnt know that , and my last tip for you .. just try to play azir like 10 games u will understand his weaknesses cause its pretty obv

OyddAWqJ5r10/11/2017, 10:09:10 AM1 votes

I mean you can think of it this way too: He has a non-combat passive that has a very long cooldown.

What other champ only uses their passive once or twice a game?

That aside you play against Azir like most other mages. Just play the dodge game and expend his mana if he keeps trying to harass. To avoid the harass sadly there isn't much avoiding a Q and an auto or two but try to get away asap so he doesn't auto twice. After that just steer clear of the soldier completely. They have a rather long summoning time to compensate the fact that they last a really long time. (It's 8 seconds at level 1).

Nothing really other than that. Like most other mages, don't aim to kill him he's more just like a laning buddy trying to farm the same lane. Poke him and whatnot if you can but if you're gonna all in be ready for whatever cheesy outplay maneuver he has in store with his crazy E mobility and the potential shield he gets from it.

Also playing someone that outranges him or someone that can weave in and out safely helps a ton.

Some picks to consider:

Out-range him strat: Ahri Ziggs Xerath Velkoz Varus Taliyah Viktor Lux

Weave in and out/all-in guys: Zed Leblanc Fizz

Other picks to consider (I can explain for each of em, just ask): AurelionSol Gangplank Anivia Syndra Veigar Orianna Lucian Vladimir Heimerdinger Cassiopeia Karma

Things you shouldn't play (unless you really know what you're doing, cuz it's gonna be a pain regardless): Akali Talon Kassadin Diana Ekko Galio Ezreal Katarina Karthus Garen Brand Fiddlesticks Jhin JarvanIV Kennen Khazix Kayle KogMaw Mordekaiser Morgana Nasus Ryze TwistedFate Yasuo

Just find what works for you. Experience is by far the thing you need the most in any matchup.

BabyNaix10/11/2017, 1:41:14 PM1 votes

Just pick zed and insta burst him. The unseen shadow is the deadliest Zed

Eunson10/11/2017, 2:27:19 PM1 votes

I'd said pick an assassin or a burst mage but those haven't existed for awhile now.

Ionian Vulpix10/10/2017, 9:12:40 PM1 votes

No I cannot. I've been banning him whenever I'm mid.

Nasuuna10/10/2017, 9:50:12 PM1 votes

stand away from the wave, soldiers trigger minion aggro, so he has to choose between push or harass

If he harasses he takes minion damage

Xenomancers10/10/2017, 9:45:09 PM1 votes

ehhh - the way to handle him is at champ select. Ziggs, Xerath, and even karthus have easy lanes against him where it's basically a farm fest. Those are all strong mages right now. I wouldn't try to kill him - roam on him. Vlad is a good choice too - I saw a vlad wreck this azir the other night.

KoKoboto10/10/2017, 11:32:07 PM1 votes

Tbh I don't think anyone can beat him now unless you're like some OP shit or like super long range like ridiculous long range with wave clear.

You either go even or you lose. So just try your best to farm and harass him if he tries to play too aggressive because his ranges were decreased. Don't try to kill him unless you're a kill champion kinda champion. His all in is way too scary and good if you ask me it's like better than Cassiopeias.

Fegone10/11/2017, 3:32:57 PM1 votes

I would suggest something with a better waveclear that forces him back and forces him to focus on farming, rather than to poke you. Morgana is great, with her Pool you can farm up way faster than he can. Anivia is great too. plus if you happen to land a stun with either one of them, you can poke him back. Make sure you stay far at distance with either one of them, because he will out-trade you when he's close enough for his soldiers to hit you.

LordGeovanni10/12/2017, 6:55:41 AM1 votes

you could farm against azir before.... because riot left him in an intentionaly weak state
