I just have to say, I appreciate how you guys listened to your players and all our complaints. You saw that many Ahri players weren't digging the splash for several reasons :/ (ex. Missing Bell, barely noticeable whiskers, really small ears, hair and face was WAY off from hers) & reverted it. Thank you so so much <3 This was the only splash I had a problem with because some of her original features were off or missing & as Ahri being my favorite Champion, it made me upset. It didn't feel like her whatsoever :( Thanks for changing it back, I am in such a good mood now & I don't have to worry about it anymore. You have made many actual Ahri players very happy now <3 Anyways, all the other new splashes look amazing! Good job, I hope you guys keep it up. You're making the game better & better :] Thanks for listening to us and all our feedback of the Splash.

Not really. As an aspiring artist, I can pretty safely say that nothing is precious. If people don't like your art piece, then they don't like it. Draw another one. Simple as that. If you're good enough you can do another one just as well. He probably got paid for working on it regardless anyway.

How does the artist being able to let it roll off his back make it any less disrespectful? The way most of the people talked about the art was horrendous.

Mm not sure what people said other than "doesn't look like Ahri" "doesn't capture that Asian feel" "face doesn't match" and whatnot. I thought it was fair criticism and I agreed with most of it. I didn't see many horrible things at all. The reason there was so much backlash was because the artist didn't really capture "Ahri" with it in the way that the consumer sees it. The nasty stuff I would just consider animalistic gnashing of teeth. It is really effective when trying to get a strong message across in a split second. And look, Riot got the message really quick. Not saying that I condone the behavior, but with the way Riot's been changing things without checking with the community first, I'm not really surprised that the community is taking no chances with the chance that Riot has given them.

They shouldn't need to check with the community on lore and design, because it isn't the communities game. People were up in arms about damn near every splash art thats been coming out and every change made to a character. The new Ahri looked great, stepped up to try and make his own interpretation of Ahri, one that could have breathed new life into the character. If you just keep recycling the way they look there's no point in redoing them at all. It's simply an example of people being opposed to change. Because the ears are too small? The whiskers aren't right? What right does anyone in the community have to say what Ahri is "Supposed" to look like?

I'm just going to repeat what I said, but yes, they didn't check with us on that stuff, but they gave us a chance with the splash arts. You can bet your first ass cheek and your grandma that the community won't let this precious chance to make an impact simply slip by.

Again, he made his own interpretation of Ahri and people didn't like it. So he'll make another one. That's the way it goes with the feedback process.

Death of the Author. Look it up sometime. The general rule when it comes to creating art is that the community will always care about the creation more than the creator themselves, and their desire for a character identity will always be stronger.
Paid artists are paid to appeal, not create. It doesn't matter how glorious you think your art is, if you cannot sell it, it likely doesn't work.
The art is anything but great. The artist cannot draw women to save his life. He always draws the exact same woman with large doe-like eyes, a perfectly straight nose, puffy blowjob lips and a waist that rotates in ways that signify a lack of internal organs, plus he doesn't seem to know how hips connect to the legs. Seriously, take the new Ahri splash and line it up with Ashe, Cassiopeia, Ravenborn LeBlanc, Sivir and Caitlyn. Check out their faces. They're all the exact same woman dressed in a different costume.

^Right. I thought it looked awesome. One of my friends was super disappointed when it got removed just because a few people posted a thousand times of how they didn't like it. I told him to wait and it might be back up later on. lol

If YOU and your friend found that it looked awesome, that's great. Thousands of Ahri players would not have gotten so upset if it had the same features for Ahri & if you are that oblivious to not know what features were missing, changed, or made subtle after that many posts then idk, I'm tired of explaining it to people so oblivious. The splash will NOT be coming back on, it's being scrapped because TOO many people had issues with it and it has TOO many inconsistencies with the in game model and the actual splash. The only reason Riot took down that splash and reverted it was because THEY saw their mistakes themselves.

No, if they are gonna even make her a new splash that new one should not be used. It had too many things wrong with it... either the original splash should be touched up and made hd or a complete new splash should be made, with a better pose, face, noncluttered tails and what not

Yeah, they know what we are looking for in her splash now, I don't think they could possibly mess it up after hearing the feedback when they decide to make a new one from scratch this time. Although a lot of people want to just make tweaks (which I don't understand) they don't realize that it has too many issues and inconsistencies. A guy who sent in fan art with the same pose 2 months ago even got mad because they didn't give him any credit. It's being scrapped completely. I trust Riot after this time for a more phenomenal flash :D if they do make one that is. I'm fine with her original one too <3

We can always get Ironstylus to do the new splash, he helped with Midnight Ahri and the only problem that splash has is the camera angle is way too far away.

I kind of hope the artist who made that new Ahri splash gets another crack at her; I've been loving almost every other splash I've seen and think that it'd be great to get a unified, fresh look at the entire roster. I think the new splash was really skillfully created, it just didn't feel like Ahri, but the artist is very talented.

Well, now I'm kinda mad. Not about the Ahri revert, but about the fact that when DragonBlade Riven came out, there was a MUCH bigger outcry over the look on Riven's face in that splash.

People say the new Ahri's art changed what made Ahri Ahri, and the same was true for DB Riven.

If Ahri's new splash got reverted, then why didn't DB Riven's? D:

I think they were trying to solve the "Cass looks like Wukong" problem and ended up creating a "Wukong looks like Graves" problem... Yep, definitely needs a reroll/retouch.

They'll probably put the one they had on the PBE back up with some minor changes that are so small you need to have the Original PBE image and the edited on to even be able to tell the difference. And no matter how small the changes are in the new one, people will love it.

When it comes back it's probably going to be with same with minor lighting differences. There wasn't (as far as I could see) as big of a stink over Ahri as there was for Riven when her splash got reworked.

The thing is, is that it's not coming back. It's scrapped, otherwise it would still be in the pbe even if they were making changes. There's too many things wrong with it that it is beyond repair from the face & missing/subtle features to the pose and positioning of tails. Yeah, Riven's is not too hot, I have to agree on that only but the old one was very lacking in detail though.

You misunderstand. Riven's current splash art had a previous iteration. It was a lot darker, a lot greener, and Riven had more make up. Old GD exploded with criticisms and player edits. The current Riven splash actually is just a copy paste of one of those player edits.

As I recall, her splash did get taken down when they reworked it, but I might be mistaken.
