Someone Explain How Promos Work For New Ranked Players

EDIT: When I say promos I mean the first 10 games that give you your rank, Provisionals. I've heard someone call them promos before so I've been calling them that. I don't mean the games you play to rank up, I mean the ones you start off with. First 10

I am finishing up my first 10 games. I have never played ranked before so this is my first time. I am 5 wins 4 losses currently, overall most of my kda scores seem pretty good I think.

How exactly does promos work for new ranked players? I read something about points and I've seen people say it does count kda a little and others say it doesnt count kda. I've also read that if you got into a certain place last season you are more likely to get around the same spot this season (as in it remembers where you were and is more inclined to put you around there if you do well)

Since I haven't ever played ranked before, how does this work? Am I more likely to get put into bronze since I wasn't ranked before? Is it even looking at kda? (and it should because even though I have lost 4 games my kda really wasn't bad and I have been getting kills, I didn't feed too much except for 1 really bad game. I don't usually die too much.)

I am aiming for silver and if I lose my last game I'd have 5 wins, 5 losses, and I'm worried about becoming bronze. The way it decides where you go really confuses me.

Wins and losses are all that matter in ranked. Nothing else.

Promos in a nutshell: "Got to 100 LP? Win 2 out of 3 games to advance to the next tier. Lose 2 out of 3 games to go back to around 90 LP of your current tier. Are you already in tier 1 of your rank? Then instead you have to win 3 out of 5 games to advance to the next rank. If you lose 3 out of 5 games, back to around 90 LP of your current tier. Better luck next time."

Not that hard.

A promo series works like this. You win enough games to get 100LP and enter your series, then you have to win 2 out of 3 games (or 3 out of 5 if it's from one rank to another such as bronze to silver) to pass the series.

You finish your games. It'll give you a rank and division. (e.g. Silver 4)

You start in that division at 0 LP. Winning games gives you LP and losing games causes you to lose it, at an arbitrary number of losses while at 0 LP, you will be automatically demoted to the next lowest division and placed there at 50 LP.

Once you hit 100 LP, you will enter promo games. Promos are best 2 of 3 between divisions, but best 3 out of 5 between ranks. While in promos, you can still gain and lose LP, but you can never go over 100 LP (don't ask why, no one knows).

Win these best of games and you will be placed in the next rank/division at 0 LP. Repeat until you're sick of it.

Alright, right now it's about getting 100 LP. -Winning ranked games gives you LP and losing takes away LP -Once you reach 100 LP you are set into 3 games that determine if you can go to the next divison, like from silver 5 to silver 4. If you win 2 or 3 games in those 3 games you are promoted to next tier. -Same exact thing happens if going from silver to gold, except you play 5 games and need to win at least 3 to climb to next tier.

So since you NEVER played ranked before, it's all up to your provisional games. It's basically, win more makes you be placed in a higher tier and division. If you however win 10/10 you will be placed in low plat to high gold. You can never win a lot of games and be placed in mid plat-top plat, diamond, master, or challenger. you will have to physically climb games to get there. Each game will reflect your placement win or lose. Like for my first ranked provisional, I won 3 games and losed 7 and was placed in silver 5. I played those 3 games really good and demolished the enemy.

I think the word you are thinking of might be 'provisional' rather than 'promo' ('promotion').
