Why does bad behavior in normals games get ranked restrictions?

disregardable··1 votes·797 views

I logged on today wanting to play ranked. The only reason I want to play ranked is because of my current losing streak in normals, that makes me upset. Ranked is so easy for me right now. My win rate is great. Games are ending in 20-30 minutes. I rarely even rage in ranked; the games are over too quickly. Now you want me to continue my losing streak, that causes the bad behavior, to fix my bad behavior...I'm confused.

Bad behavior is bad behavior, the type of match makes no difference. If you really lack so much control that you can't even control your own behavior perhaps you should not be playing a stressful, competitive game at all. Luckily for you Riot does not think that way, and you've kept access to the less stressful queues in the hopes that you will improve on your own.

Even Riot's patience is limited, however. Just remember that.

the less stressful queues

It's not less stressful when you're losing 75% of your games. -__- The matchmaking is unbalanced, I'm constantly placed with Silvers now. See the game that no doubt caused the restriction.

I had an unranked Zilean support, I was Kalista. He did not communicate at all. He did not buy wards. He did not auto-attack the enemy champions when engaged upon (necessary to get all of my damage from my w). He did not help me clear minions. He literally just stood in the bush or by the tower and threw out a bomb every 2 minutes. Against a Jinx. I raged at him harder than I have in a long time, all game. In a normal queue.

I didn't know what else to do, man. I was Kalista. I needed a real support.

How a player is doing is no excuse for raging at them, whether it's ranked or normals. That you can admit to having raged at him, however useless he was, only shows that you feel justified by his actions in the game for punishing him as a person.

Sure he was an idiot. But that's no reason to bog down your team by filling up their chat log with negativity, possibly distracting them, and no one deserves to have someone rage at them. Chances are that if he was doing absolutely nothing he was either still learning, which raging at them doesn't help, or he was trolling, which raging at them is what they want.

We've all been there. We've had bad supports. Bad ADCs. Bad mages. Bad tanks. Been a jungler and watched every lane losing ground from stupid mistakes while all three are pinging for ganks at the same time.

Sorry, that last one's a bit vivid for me.

But raging is raging, no matter the cause, and the person on the receiving end still has a beating heart. They aren't the champion they're playing, and they're worth more than their gameplay. I can have similar problems with raging, and can come across as unnecessarily hostile when I'm continuously seeing moments that people are making stupid choices that could have been altogether avoided had they listened to advice, and I'm constantly working on improving myself so that I can refocus that on where it should be.

On minions. Dude they're just asking for it.

Look at them.

If you really don't understand what you should do about this then please pay close attention to what I'm about to say.

You have to improve your behavior.

That's it. Work on becoming a better person, and learn to show respect to everyone, even people you hate. It is not an easy road, but it is the right road. Do this and you will not only never have to worry about Riot's punishments, you will find it easier to deal with any type of person in the long run. Vocal retribution, on the other hand, will only continue to cause you problems for as long as you use it.

I personally believe it should be changed from ONLY draft wins too draft games played. 25/35/45/50 Draft wins could take ages. Even 25 wins could. Could take days, a week, 2 weeks, a month. Depending on how often someone plays, or can play, sometimes you may lose 4-5 games in a row. @40 minutes each you're looking at nearly 4 hours of just sitting there ... to accomplish nothing

That would even make the Buddha weep.

I lost 6 games in a row, won a game, lost a game, won a game, and then lost 5 more games in a row. :D

Your losing streak doesn't cause your bad behavior. Take responsibility for your own actions ffs.

Eh, a lost streak can cause frustration, which can lead to bad behavior. I can understand that. Who he's taking it out on is his fault.

Because, even though no one wants to admit it, normal games are still used as practice for ranked.

Plus if you're ruining people's fun in normal games, you should have a penalty put against you when you go into ranked matches. No one should be able to troll about or be verbally abusive in a normals game, ruin 4 to 9 other players' experience in a mode where they're trying to relax and have fun, and be scot-free going into ranked as though they didn't negatively affect several other human beings through their actions.

Because people don't want to be trolled by a douche in normals either.

Have you tried /mute all when you get into game? Sometimes when I'm having a stressful day and I'm trying to enjoy normals with a few friends, and then there's that one fucking asshole who starts raging because one of my friends made a mistake. Sometimes I'll make the mistake of trying to diffuse it, and then get angry myself because I did a stupid thing and talked to the pub. However, I've gotten into the habit of muting the chat when I get into a ranked match, and I've been muting as soon as I see something that -might- get me tilted in a normal. And with that, if someone makes a mistake, there's the knowledge that I can't turn around and say something to them because they won't see it and I can just shout at my monitor if it really bothers me that much. The important thing is that my rage doesn't make it into chat and I don't bring down my team's morale as a result, thus contributing to the win instead of the loss.

Give it a shot.

Yeah, I have tried that multiple times. It doesn't make the games any more or less frustrating, and it doesn't help me not type into chat when I'm frustrated. Also, my problem is in normals, not ranked. Playing against people of your own skill level makes it very obvious where your mistakes are; you feel justified in losing. Playing against people an entire division+ above you just makes it seem like their champions are on steroids, and there's nothing you can do to win.
