If your teammate tells you they will have trouble laning, don't be surprised when they do badly

Çhåryzård··77 votes·3,417 views

Like I don't really get this and this is a thing I have seen ever since I started playing normals.

You get into game, a teammate tells you before the laning phase starts "This is a bad matchup for me so I'll try to play passive but I will have trouble. Any help is appreciated"

Jungler and teammates respond "Ok"

Get into laning phase, teammate plays passive, has trouble farming and staying caught up and eventually dies. Asked for jungle and midlane help, no help received (which I get, if one lane is doing bad focus on getting another lane fed and mid can't always roam).

Teammate is practically hugging tower to survive, still ends up getting dived and shat on especially when the enemy jungler joins in for the free kills and tower. At this point nothing they can do except try to get whatever farm they can and try to stay behind tower if they still have it and its strong enough.

Gets to late game

"GG trash bot fed the entire game" "Omg our top is so bad look how hard they fed" "Mid, you're trash, how bad do you have to be to feed that hard" "Your cs sucks"

Like all of a sudden it becomes a surprise that they did bad when they warned you ahead of time that their matchup is terrible and they would need help?

I really don't get this.

Like, not everyone has good games, and if their matchup sucks I don't expect them to do well, but they WARNED YOU AHEAD OF TIME that they would need help and probably do bad. Now it's a surprise and they just suck and you feel the need to shit on them in all chat for it? It wasn't like it was a secret, they made it known that their lane would be really really hard and played as passive as they could.

Only way to play more passive is to just abandon your lane, and if you do that you have people yelling at you anyways.

If a teammate is doing that badly and the jungle is constantly up there, then you have a choice. Either help them get caught up or focus on making another enemy's lane hell so that your mid/top/bot is fed too. If you don't do that then how can you shit on the one person taking the beating from 2 people constantly (ESPECIALLY IF THEY WARNED YOU IT WOULD HAPPEN)? It gives you the chance to focus on another laner and get them fed while putting an enemy behind if the enemy jungle is constantly harassing one lane.

**I guess the TL;DR is, if your teammate warns you ahead of time they are going to have a really rough time, don't shit on them later if you didn't provide any help or do anything productive while they took a beating. **

On the off chance you are fighting an Illaoi, and the matchup isn't good, just cry. Your jungler cannot and should not help you. If you are unable to play around her, pray for the sweet release of death, and hope that your team has a good way to fight her late game.

EROTIC RAID BOSS1 votes

you can gank her early, before she's level 6. after level 6... it depends on who you and your jungler are playing, and also if you can bait out her ult then you can call for a gank.

also when you are going for a gank, or to fight illaoi, look for that E. if she misses, that's the time for you guys to go in, esp if there's no tentacle already nearby (or you can kill it immediately). an illaoi with 2 tentacles vs you 2 is a lot less dangerous than an illaoi with 4 tentacles.

3TWarrior1 votes

I'm not entirely sure as this is true, but an illaoi would probably enjoy stalling a lane more than pushing it and then just farming to 6 with harass from E

there are also tentacle spawn points at points within the lane that the illaoi can hug to in a pinch

EROTIC RAID BOSS1 votes

spawn points are any wall, as long as its a certain distance from any other tentacles. but the cd on it is like 16 seconds? or something

Illaoi doesn't really counter anything, and falls off hard assuming the team isn't dumb.

item 3123 makes her useless if your champ is AD.

Because these people don't remember champ select by the end of the game, they lost and their brain launches into "where can I allocate blame?" mode. They look for the first possible culprit and use it.

People need to calm their tits over normal games. People get discouraged to try out new champions (and even play the game) because of that toxic behavior they get from teammates when they do badly.

Completely agree with this, of course I make sure to practice the champ and get use to them and their abilities in practice mode and a custom bot game. But of course it's nothing compared to actual games, it takes time and practice to get use to and be good with a champ, but it can be quite frustrating/upsetting if you have teammates getting pissed at you when you are trying your best.

Funny thing is, I have not only experienced the phenomenon you described where players mention ahead of time that they're most likely going to have a difficult time, then their teammates act like they expected more and start flaming anyway. I have actually experienced players who mention they're likely to have a difficult time but instead of teammates flaming that player, the player flames everybody else while no one says anything.

The possibilities for various different scenarios to occur is rather amusing.

lol, once went twisted fate against yasuo

of course teammates lfamed when I had to either stay behind tower and was behind like 40 cs or more with 2+ deaths (as yasuo is an early champ with counter to all ranged abilities)

had the same problem against ziggs. Ziggs outranges twisted by like two to one and blows up towers like no tomorrow

Nobody ever said resigning to losing lane, what I said was (if you bothered to use the meat in your skull) is giving your teammates a heads up that your matchup is unfavorable and that you'll probably have a rough time.

Was that too hard to understand? I can try using smaller words if you'd like

If my top lane is 0 and 5 I won't care if he said he's going to lose lane. I won't flame him but he should know it's his fault for being 0 and 5.

good luck explaining that to the mid who is getting eaten alive for even being in lane when the jungler chooses to focus mid instead of bottom lane or a matchup that is almost impossible for the champion to deal with.

Much easier to just flame people and ignore every time they ask for help, and while they are even getting turret dove by the jungler. /s

What gets me really badly is when something like this happens while you are top lane against an unfavorable matchup, and then your mid lane refuses to swap with you (even though the matchup for them would be even or better, and the champion that they are fighting is actually directly countered by your own champion).

Really grates on my nerves when this happens, especially when the lane does go badly and they start complaining about it.

Sad Tyrant2 votes

yeah, fucking stupid lux, not switching with me, then flaming me. I was playing Garen, the enemy top laner was darius and the enemy mid laner was Yasuo

As mid I've told junglers to avoid giving me blue if I'm behind. There's no reason to give it to the enemy, so give it to the support or someone who can utilize the cooldowns better in the moment.

My priority becomes stopping the push, not the lane. If you lose the lane, focus on clearing the minions and not getting caught out. Use your gold on defensive items in your role. This means you'll take more enemy time if you do get caught out or in a teamfight. The time they waste on your is time they waste not killing your carry. (Though use common sense, don't dive like an idiot, just realize you should try and waste their time by tanking shots for your carry if you can do so productively in a teamfight.)

Depends who you're playing, that blue could be amazing to get CS and waveclear from afar with the CDR and mana.

crzymdscntst1 votes

Yeah, it definitely does depend, but that's in good judgement. I honestly go for champs that innately can self-sustain. Heimerdinger is my personal favorite/pick, so when going against an enemy as him, if they know how to abuse turrets range/targeting in junction with a fast turret clear... it can be quite difficult to do anything short of stopping them.

Blue buff would help you get farm with W's though.

What really irks me are the guys that beg for a teammate to change to a champion they're less comfortable on in champion select, then harass the player who changed to accommodate them all game because, surprise, they don't know that champion all that well and they did bad.

If you're asking for a teammate to change their pick for you you'd better be prepared to live with sub-par performance and make up the rest yourself.

It's fine if you lose lane and some cs, really. it's Ok if the outer tower falls. it's also not a big deal. The problem is when you feed and feed hard and fall behind in experience. Your base stats and level are really important.

For example, I would much rather my bot lane think logically and say "Hmm....we should not use our abilities on the people trying to dive us but rather the minions to stall out the dive as long as possible, and when it's no longer possible leave the turret, giving our team enough time to either trade turrets or come defend" Let the tower fall, don't feed on top of it. Keep your jungle clear and warded on whatever side is vulnerable.

Again losing lane is not a big deal nor is losing a tower but when you lose extremely hard it becomes almost a 4v5. it's hard to justify yourself. Either you weren't itemizing defensively to survive aggressive all ins, weren't warding properly, or bad last hitting,

Well if you're losing extremely hard and doing whatever you can to try and stay caught up, it comes down to your team.

If they don't help you or at least try to scare the enemy laner away for a minute so you can cs, then the blame is partly on them too.

Can't really say "Oh you were so behind!" if they asked for help repeatedly and you just didn't go make an effort to try and help, or get another lane fed to make up for it

Well not entirely your team but you too. To win the game, yes the winning lanes have to win hard and spread influence, but the losing lanes must also lose gracefully. When I have a jinx, cait or vayne bot lane who've lost lane and bot tower, as long as they are cs near the second tier turret - last hitting only - warding the entrance to the jungle on their side, and after having pushed out a wave return to the turret immediately ( not stick around to auto the out turret, or be greedy for 1 more cs), then I am perfectly happy. You will scale. You aren't feeding. and we can wave clear till a neutral objective like a dragon comes up on the map. But 9/10 times that doesn't happen. People get caught out when it's obvious where they enemy is like to path, they face check and are surprised they get 100-0 instantly. They get baited into defending stuff like a blue buff or red buff that they can't contest, they try to stop a dragon when your jungler isn't even there to smite so it's 100% gone anyway. ... etc etc.

I will never flame someone for losing lane, we all lose lane from time to time.... but I will flame someone if they've lose lane and do things that make it much harder for the rest of the team to carry them.

Well if you die twice in 5 mins, there's no feasible way for the JG to help at all...

At this point we're all just sort of hoping we can FF at 20 because its just going to get worse. And of course, people won't FF vote either... and then you can guess where the blame will fall after 30-45 minutes of unpleasantry.

Thing is, top lane can single-handedly lose the game. If Mid or Bot gets fed, they are usually a squishy target that can still misplay and/or get deleted through superior outplay and coordination; they can screw up. I mean compare that to a fed Tryndamere or a fed Darius and you can see how its innately frustrating...

Sad Tyrant8 votes

mate we get it, but they warned you that they would have trouble. we all know how frustrating it is to be fed and have a fed Darius on the enemy team, but seriously it's even more frustrating for the laner that's losing against them

ManiacalCoyote4 votes

Especially when you started winning, then you died to their Tryndamir, and the rest of the laning phase is them diving you under tower and killing you, then spinning away.

The thing is if someone says it's a bad match up but then proceeds to feed 3 kills are they not an idiot?

I mean they knew they couldn't scrap it out with their counter yet chose to duel them anyway. Popping off their little buttons and clicks like this is street fighter or some shit. Suddenly they're 0-4 at 6 minutes.

Then they throw their hands up and are like "DURRRR I TOLD YOU GUYS IT WAS A BAD MATCH UP DURRRR!"

The problem is that they tried to have fun.

This isn't the league of fun.

It's THE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS!!

deep disappointed sigh Mate, stop, they're trying, leave them alone.

This is a game, therefore the goal is to have fun, win or lose.

You need to understand that some champions have an oppression over others.

Whats a poor Garen, who is basically all melee, to do against Darius? wait under tower until Darius is 3 levels above him and starts roaming?. he begged the Lux in mid to switch lanes because of the more favourable match up, Yasuo, but she ignored him until Darius rekt her shit, at that time she started flaming. only for it to be pointed out that it is actually her fault for not switching lanes with the Garen.

Arrrrr! Avast mate!

If the match is unfavorable, yes you sit under tower and farm.

You go have fun in normals sighing into a paper bag.

Sad Tyrant1 votes

Mate, I don't think you got what i meant, some match ups are so oppressive that you have to wait until they leave lane to get XP and Gold because they can bully you outside of the xp range even while you're under tower, like Vayne or Quinn in top with an all melee champ

Surr20plz1 votes

If it's like you say where there is absolutely no way to farm under tower then according to that logic (which is bs) they should dodge.

Or more realistically they will get some farm and then do what this guy said:
