Is Dia the new Plat?

I hear people say low Dia (3-4) is the new Plat. I myself was high Plat last season and now Dia 3/4. Is it true? What would you say? Are the same people who were Plat last season now all in low Dia?

First question how are titles made? A title is division and Tier, until your near the top then its just a single Tier.

Some say its population size. I favor using a Static MMR value, other wise LP is pointless and your systems heavily influenced by population size at any time.

So you break your system into ranges then put the Title for that range. Made up example. Any players who have low system uncertainty inbetween 1201 and 1300 would be Silver, division 3.

As a rating is not assumed accurate with high uncertainty, a TIER is not assumed accurate at high uncertainty.

This is my assumptions, logical and in line with Elo theory far as I know.

So. Last year. 27 titles. B5 to Challanger. Each non top tier is 5 divsisions. This year. also 27 titles. I4 to challenger. new 2 new tiers 1 with 0 divisions. Removed 5 from other tiers.

looks like this. last years titles 5+5+5+5+5+1+1 Vs this years titles. 4+4+4+4+4+4+1+1+1. Assuming the MMR did not chage all riot has done is shift around what Titles represent what MMR ranges, and they might have shifted values to adjust what % of players get to what Ranges if they wanted.

End of the day if you reduce it you get 27 v 27. So if there is any overla lower and the titles are uniform or similar MMR to last year you see Titles overlap to be different despite a player having similar or identical rating to prior season.

Imo the ladder shifted down because b4 is not going to represent B4 last year and the removal of d5 results in identically placed titles only catching up around Plat MMR for direct overlapping.

Expressed mathematically. 20 titles for B 5 and plat 1 last year. 5D X 4T and 20 titles for Iron 4 to Plat 1 4D X 5T. Potentially a shift to the ranges means plat 1 is eating some of the old diamond 5 if they moved the ladder up, which would result in sinking players down.

Oviously this means nothing if riot uses a less reliable system then static MMR values to make tiers. No idea why and I see 0 gains for doing so thou.

Short answer: For the most part yes. p2 to d3 is basically the new plat if you look at it player percentage wise.

Yes. Last season Dia was top 1.9(?)%, this season Dia is top 4% which roughly means all of last season plat 1 and most of plat 2 are now considered diamond.

Doesn't really matter now, does it? You're at the last big checkpoint before Master, so unless you wanna push for Master level there's actually no reason to even try to get better. That's why I never tried to leave low Dia in all my years being here, I just can't ever see myself reaching the next milestone. So in that spirit, welcome to Diamond and enjoy your stay. At least you got in this season, some Rioter are throwing around ideas of making Diamond top 8-10%. What a joke this rank has become, in season 1 top 10% was Silver! xD
