Why does it seem like Elo Hell exists? It doesn't.... How to make it clear?

So recently I've been trying to get out of Bronze and I honestly thought that it was elo hell that I couldn't do it and that It was 75% my luck getting trolls, noobs, and people with terrible internet. But then someone saw past my angry rant and hate for bronze and decided to watch some of my matches to see how I was doing.

To be honest it opened my eyes to a lot of things I was doing wrong. #1 My runes weren't correctly made for my type of main or gameplay (nor were they up-to-date with the current meta) #2 My masteries needed some adjusting but not a ton. (again not up-to-date with the current meta) #3 I hadn't studied the current Meta and how to counter it (Although I already knew what is was by playing in general. Tanks are gettin the love) #4 I hadn't invested a ton of time to custom match practicing, which this kind summoner had taken the time to show me how to do and gave me goals to practice at. #5 He treated me legitimately and with respect, making it easy for me to take his word on his advice and to implement it into my game play.

I love how I was sort of pulled out of that mind set, not by being called a terrible player, but when someone took an hour of their time to help me out a little.

Since then I have only played a few matches. But the difference is considerable. I'm winning more, and when I lose, I lose with semi positive stats. Not like before when I would kill hard or feed hard.

So my thought is. Why not have a reward based "Mentor" system? Where a veteran player that is certified (just takes a test and is a certain MMR rating)

That way you could find someone In-game, and both of you would receive rewards for growing in your MMR rating. The mentor couldn't participate in actual matches, but could spectate and create custom matches for you to practice.

I know there are already kind of mentoring third party systems going. But I would like to see an actual in game mode/search/Option

Let me know what you think in the comments below. If you are a trapped silver or bronze soul, release yourself from the "hell" mindset and try to find someone to help you like I did.

I am a recovering Elo Hell victim, let me know if you have better solutions to this issue.

Solo que elo hell exists. Yet the hell (if you have proper runes, map awareness, good mechanic skills, and item builds) is bad teamates that feed, troll, or afk.

I'd disagree just because I had the same arguement but I realized by practicing I did alot better each game overall. Some of my teammates weren't doing very good at all. But because I was able to individually do better. I could help me team get through the initial loss and come back for a victory. And sometimes there isn't a ton you can do. But you can still individually do your best and then your not super PO'd at the end

Ehh there are the wrenches and some of us do get a disproportionately large amount of them from time to time but if you're actually good statistically you're going to end up performing again.

I can admit when I was a major contributing factor to the game loss. I main zac and he is a very team oriented champ. If you're team refused to communicate and cooperate that's pretty much it. I had a few games where a previous game had tilted me. When you're on tilt your decision making becomes much much poorer. But more often then not recently I've had a disproportionate amount of wrenches in my games. z.z;;

Generally I work hard to promote positivity in my games. "ohh hey you died once, it's cool man" then you have that guy on your team that immediately says "gg it's over, he died to the troll support". Then you spend the rest of the game trying to get that guy to shut up because the enemy team is full ap and it should be a breeze to win. Guy tilts the rest of the team, eventually the rest of the team being tilted tilts you. (30 minutes in) Then it's gg. Pretty outside of the inbalanced enemy team comp this has been a pretty regular game for me over the past few days. lol

Though statistically I'm am due for another winning streak. So I'm chill.

What I mean is, I dislike solo-que, I would rather have one other person there to rely on. Sometimes you can be the carry and do well, but sometimes you need one other person to help. If you are fed top lane but everyone else fed then you cant do jack shit. One time me and our vayne were really fed, but our mid and jungler fed the other team. Long story short everyteam fight they kicked out ass because the the jungler could tank and protect the adc, while the other could snipe. yet, I agree sometimes elo hell isnt really and its just you tilting or doing bad, but you do have games where things are out of your control.

Thats completely true. There are games that you just can't control. But like someone else mentioned. If you are consistent enough, you should perform well the majority of the time and still progress. But you could still do a duo match with your mentor. But its not the smartest because you'll go against people at a higher level

I've had multiple consecutive games where i'd be support and either adc or adc/mid would afk imediatelyl... Can't solo carry 3v5 as a support.. Also whenever top lane loses, they blame jungler. I've had top go 0/2 before i finished my first whole clear.. When your opponent has a hyper carry as a top laner that's enough snow ball to keep them rolling.. also when your top refuses to build defensively etc.

In order to climb quickly you have to be significantly more skilled than your division. Elo hell kind of exists but only in high-elo because people know how to play and the game becomes much more dependent on who has the one troll/idiot on their team than who is the most skilled. By that I mean you can actually solo carry in low-elo because everyone has less game knowledge/knows what to do at the right time in the game, but not so much in higher elo.

Like any diamond+ player could go onto your account and win the majority of the games on your account... your game knowledge isn't as much as you think it is (this isn't an insult but just saying there is a lot of experience/trial and error involved in league and playing with low-elo players doesn't make you any better at the game)

If you want some help one day add me I can show you how to get a little better, my friend was stuck in bronze too and now he's in silver.

I get that, the point is to have a diamond + player mentor you. Not play for you. Spectate only, then feedback, then revisions on runes, masteries, and builds. Then practice in custom. Then back to the Normal matches to practice.

The point is alot more people would have a lot more fun when they realize what they're doing wrong and can then fix it

I think a mentor system would be cool but probably not gonna happen

I would practice in normal matches but honestly most of the people who are diamond + have been playing league/mobas for a very long time... It's not necessarily that they are magically born with more skill than you (some people yeah maybe but for the most part no) but they have played the game for a very long time and know what to expect, how much damage they can do exactly, what will happen based on past experience, etc.

You just have to play for a long time and practice, like with anything in life... there's no magic secret to get better right away but if you watch streams of good players you can get ideas on how to improve your own play.

I've been playing for years. My mechanics are really good. But my strategy with runes, mastery's, etc. Was lacking.

Having someone to take an hour or less to show me those things and set a little goal system has made the game way funner, less stressful, and I do alot better because the little things are working with me not against me.

It can become a thing if you bump the post. Popularity shows Riot what the community wants. If you think its cool, bump it :D

I actually admit, a little over a year ago I was utter trash, but when someone I had played against took a good ten minutes and told me how to build one champion !ONE! champion properly, I sudden started to grasp the concept of the game much !MUCH! better. I'm nothing special at all, just a silver player, but I was terrible !rock bottom! until he just kind of touched with some players spark that was desperately needed.

I don't think we need a mentor system, I think we just need to ask questions and give answers.

SP Dodgecity1 votes

That describes a mentor system so well. I love your comment because it happened to me too.

But I've tried asking for help before. No one really takes the time to help me. Its kinda of a luck thing, finding someone nice enough and patient enough to just look at your stats real quick.

I think It be a great reward system for veterans and for really new players. Like I tried showing some of my friends League and they are straight HORRIBLE at the game. But my friend and I played with them and showed them some basic mechanics. They improved alot

Instead of weird third party systems or trying to get lucky doing it on your own, wouldn't it be easier if you could just click a button, get a veteran. Chat for a bit, and in 20 min or less he could of helped you revise your build, your runes, your masteries, and given you a practice regiment for like 30 min a day. If you complete it, the veteran and the noob get a small reward, and if the long time bronze player has a sudden spike to a new division. Then they would both get rewarded again.

Like investing, you put some time in it now so that later they can become great and you both get something out of it. (Not including the feeling you get just helping someone out)
