That moment a Smurf rages on a new player. Calling out Smurfers

You don't need to read everyone below. Everyone below can be summed up here. Don't be a douche... thats about it... but read on if you like.

I recently finished leveling up a smurf acct because I wanted to level up with a friend who just started playing the game. His chat system didn't work for most matches and I was glad for it. There were many times where an obvious smurf would rage on my friend or on anyone doing poorly. As if they should know better.

This is ridiculous. If you're going to make another acct then do so gracefully, help the obviously new players. Be patient with them, remember that YOU are in a lower level bracket and that YOU are purposefully putting yourself with low level/new players. Initially all you'll get is new players until the game starts matching you up with other smurfs. I had to keep reminding myself that the people around me were new and that I needed to try to be patient and respectful to the situation I purposefully put myself in (just like all players who make a smurf acct) The moments I lost my patience was when I caught another player smurfing cussing out a new player, "Un-Install, Kys, you're fking garbage..." saying this kinda shit to anyone is unacceptable but especially to a new player who's learning an actually pretty complicated game.

League isn't the easiest game to learn, each role is pretty different. They're are hundreds of champs, with dozens of different items, runes, and abilities. Not to mention mechanics, Cs'ing, when to push, when freeze lane, and when to let the enemy push you to setup a gank, blah blah blah. There's a TON to take in as a new player.

We need to help players with this learning process, not hinder them. I think the best rule of thumb is DONT BE THAT GUY/GAL.

Don't be the guy/gal that tells the noob to kys (Or anyone for that matter, thats never something thats ok, joke or not) Don't be that guy/gal to repeatedly hunt down a new player and ruin the game for them and then trash talk them afterwards. There are better things to do in life than to feed your ego by noob-stomping.

just saying, Riot is the one that says people have to level up before they go into ranked, not the players.

Smurfs blaming new players for being bad for playing their first match in the game has to ne the dumbest thing I've seen from this community as of right now. Shows smurfs are dumber than wooden division itself.

It's a culture that's specifically found in MOBA-style games that I've noticed, though it's easily much more common in League than any other since League is the biggest MOBA game.

People in this game expect new players (and even returning players) to know the game in-and-out before, even going against AI. Even in bot matches, people get pretty toxic. I've seen people try to help out the new players, but they're far and few between. I've easily seen more people insulting new players for not playing up to their standard.

But, at this point, the kind of hostile behavior that you described in the OP is generally what people outside of this community (and even in the community) view this place as. League of Legends isn't known to be new-player friendly both mechanically and socially.

The only moment where I was "wtf?????" to a fairly new player (level 24? i think) was when he was playing yasuo and flashed behind me while I was at low health and the enemy jhin was using his ult. I checked after the game and he still had windwall too.

To be fair, new players don't know kits that well but I was pretty mad.

The new accounts fall into four categories:

  1. actual new players
  2. bots
  3. players with new accounts who are in good standing
  4. players with new accounts who were previously banned.

On this new account, I've run across mostly #1, a dab of #2, #lots of 3 and a dab of #4.

The #4 I don't worry too much about. Report and move on. Let them rage. They usually dig themselves into the hole that got themselves banned in the first place. :)

I find most new accounts to be new players and they generally seem receptive to friendly advice.

I agree completely. I just had an experience when someone on my team was calling a Level 6 player a "f***ing bronzie". I'm a smurf myself and when someone does this it really annoys me and I want to set them in their place with some CAPS LOCK.

Can't help you out, if you don't post ingame text chat

#Honestly it could easily be you bullying other players just because you have your buddy around.

And no, league of legends is not hard to play, you literally turn on quick cast then smash qwer while aiming with your mouse.
