If Ahri is so Strong then why isn't she banned more?

I keep seeing these rage posts about ahri's win rate, but her ban rate is 9-10% according to op.gg so why is a champ that is, so-called, broken not banned more often? Just food for thought, a lot more variables goes into champion winning more often then others. Which demographic of player is playing her the most, how they play, how the other team counter picks or if they don't counter pick/build, what items synergize well and what team comps work well, etc.

Trying to sum up why a champ is good purely off of win-rate is ridiculous, Ahri "You only love me for my win-rate!"

Beacuse Boards =/= Majority of players.

The majority usually doesn't care about winrates as long as they're somewhat reasonable. The majority cares about fun! Even in higher Elo enviroments - although the winrate and actual power is more of a factor there.

And Ahris matchup is despite all the hate recently shown on boards at any time completely fair and quite obvious. You can pick every single Champ into her and she does not affect other lanes in a way a random other mid lane could not.

Example from League of Graphs:

Silver-Gold most banned: Zed, Yasuo, Kata, Fizz and Darius - all five have lower winrates than Ahri and Zed has a whoping 46% WR - but all five share similar obnoxious uncounterable playstyles (you can just avoid them until you outscale them, but that's not fun at all!).

Going to Plat-Dia, the obnoxious crew is still around, but their banrates dropped alot - here you can find more bans directed at actually strong Champions like Lulu and Ivern who can grant major leads to their teams by existing because people in higher Elo care more about winning instead of a fun laningphase.

Ahri still has a pretty low banrate there, because her assassin'ish playstyle is nothing that would ruin a higher elo game.

So yeah - she's not considered a problem in low Elo because of her fair matchups and she's not considered a problem in high elo because of her palystyle. Hence the low Bannrate, overall.

In the end it should be obvious that the Ahri hate-train is completely overrated. Just a few loud boarders that started complaing about something that isnt a real problem - yes she has a high WR, yes a minor nerf would fix this...

**but let's be honest doesn't League have more and bigger problems than a popular Champion with a near perfect skill-curve having a decent winrate? **

Problems like over 15 Champions with less than 2% pickrate, problems like a 38% Ryze, porblems like a Lee AND a Lucian in every second game, problems like the Support role feels like the dumpster/last hope for failed mage reworks and those who got kicked out of Mid by PowerCreeping Assassins???

  1. Not oppressive, a lot of her match ups involve skill.
  2. People know how to play against her, most mid laners know how to play her and they know how to play against her.
  3. There's champs more deserving of a ban in terms of how they can stomp you if they get ahead or give you worse match up problems
  4. It's not a problem if someone on your team picks her, and she's a pretty safe first pick
  5. I think at high elo, there are champs who are worse to deal with and can snowball against you harder if the other guy knows how to play them.

As for the QQ in general I think it has to do with: A. Winrate envy B. A dislike of popular things C. Weeaboophobia

There are plenty of arguments discussing why Ahri is over tuned right now that go beyond her win rate. Just look around the boards for them.

My #1 issue with that champion is the move speed buff. I constantly make the argument that removing that buff is the only change she needs. She gets plenty of mobility from her ulti. I'd say this is a small concession. Its also one I've noticed that a lot of Ahri mains are willing to give. Its a win-win.

Note: I do not play Ahri and am a card carrying member of the Ahri hate club. So for any of you who think this suggestion isn't enough and that I may be biased, that is untrue. I'm just looking for changes to bring her into balance, not punish her for being too strong.

It's hard to make a valid argument when you main the champion my dood. It would be like me trying to defend Graves.. No one will take me seriously because i'll come across bias as hell.

Ahri isn't called broken, shes called over powered.. And it isn't a meta thing, ever since they changed her slightly after DFG was removed, she has maintained a 51-56% winrate patch after patch... So thats 2 seasons, and now working on 3..

Unfortunately there is a dark circle in league of legends, and for different reasons, different people join it. If my champion gets nerfed or reworked for X reason, why isn't X champion. On paper it sounds very childish and weak. However, life isn't fair, get use to it. The fact that a champion like Lee Sin, Yasuo, old Leblanc (maybe new 1 too?) Zed etc.. Champions that statistically are asked to be nerfed very often, get nerfs if they stay at a 51% winrate for a couple patches.. That is absurd when someone like Ahri has been left alone since:

V5.16 Essence Theft.png Essence Theft Healing reduced to 3 / 5 / 9 / 18 from 2 + level.

Which was the last nerf she received. AND STILL is the best mid laner (or top 3) every patch.

because theres too much garbage which needs banning.

its not that shes not ban worthy or her ban wont win you more games. its just that when you lose to an ahri its justified or you had the potential not to feed. its there whether you see it or not.

but when something else which just simply presses R on you.... (graves), takes your full combo and reactionary spams his buttons to win the fight.... (GRAVES) you cant help but ban that champion over ahri.

i wont defend ahri, but i will state theres nothing toxic about the kit, it just needs light tweeking at most. she has mobility safety and reliability, but just straight up lacks damage against anyone who doesn't have 30mr 0 health items.
