Why can't what's said on the Rift STAY in the Rift?

I get really annoyed when people suggest that people should get banned for toxicity. Sure, saying "Go kill yourself" is CLEARLY unacceptable and should be reported. I am not defending that.

I am talking about lightly poking fun at the other team, pull them into dialogue and make comments WITHOUT being abusive. A subtle psychological war can be just as effective as the battle on the rift and kills/deaths affect our psychology heavily, usually wether we want them to or not. So why can we not have a bit of banter on the rift and have Riot say that THIS is a legitimate strategy.

In League you need to use all weapons at your disposal to win, if I can get one of their team to rage quit WITHOUT being personally abusive or clearly unacceptable then what is the problem with that. Words are just as mighty as the sword and sometimes the key to winning games.

So now, why do people report ANYTHING you say, even if it is not abusive. It has gotten to the point were Riot are so concerned about being seen as "politically correct" that they are neglect a vital area of the game and cutting off one of the many weapons we can use to win, namely morale.

Why Riot feels the need to intervene with this is beyond me, you think they would have more important. How many people do you know that have got told to "go kill themselves" and HAVE ACTUALLY DONE IT. I bet nobody, since everyone can establish that this is a game and yes, it is competetive. I am not making an excuse for flamers or being an apologist but sometimes there is a strategy there. Why has everyone in this game become such "Special Snowflakes" that they cannot take ANY form of banter without considering a huge attack on them. You arn't actually going to do anything in real life and if you were that emotionally fragile, you need help. Like, seriously... go see a therapist.

It may be dirty... but its still valid (Obviously as long as you are not going over the top abusive.)

I mean its not like Riot actually CARE about honor, Yasuo is in the game XD

OH AND STOP DOWNVOTING THIS UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO STOP AND SAY WHY YOU ARE DOWNVOTING THIS FOR NO REASON.

Well i always write puns in all-chat but i keep an friendly attitude overall, and up today i never got successfully reported(about 2 warnings i have been reported for negative attitude) but IMO you should really try to win it fairly. I down-voted this post because i think, that you shouldn't be doing it but i also don't think that it is enough to get reported.

The reason i think it is bad behavior is because its a game you should have fun, not trying to make other players feel uncomfortable via psychological pressure. But I really think that the league community should loosen up a bit on reportable insults. IMO newbie is really not an insult when it is not used as such. Of course a friend of mine who is level 24 is in my eyes a newbie but that is not insulting. If you take a look at DotA you will encounter many people swearing in all-chat but they don't get personal and that is what really makes the difference. So maybe we should loosen all up a bit and get less personal with insults flaming etc. raging in the heat of just having died is ok but do not keep on raging and don't insult your teammates ancestors or whatever.

Why would your goal involve making another player quit/rage? Ends don't justify means. If the only reason you use the /all chat function is to belittle your opponents, then a chat restriction is within reason. It's not a matter of protecting the over-sensitive. You're deliberately trying to be a jerk, even if, in your opinion, it isn't "going over the top". This whole thing is like listening to a kid gripe about how he only gut punched someone and that's okay because it isn't the same as breaking someone's nose.

Sorry but I report anything that can be looked at as toxic. My masters Rito has taught me well.

It is not just the game. This is all about the PC culture and people wanting to control and destroy language. Most people now a days grow up learning a victim mentality and take offense to everything. Not because it truly offends them but because by acting offended it gives them a small amount of power of you. It is a hivemind mentality and its funny because these same people who claim are being bullied are actually the bullies.

Riot has been successful in taking a game where it should be easy to make friends and making it so basically saying anything in chat can get you some sort of punishment. I /mute all every game because who knows how anything I will say will be taken. It is sad.
