Matched with a player on my Block List?

I don't get it, what's the point of a block list if I can get matched in to games with a player on my block list? I never noticed until after the game when I was looking to honor someone and noticed someone had a grayed out name and then realized it was someone I had blocked previously.

This is so bad. The whole game I never see anything he says, meaning I couldn't react accordingly if he was asking for help or anything (who knows if he improved to a more reasonable player). It also doesn't help that he went 1/6 in lane (the 1 being when I roamed from mid when he was 0/5 and netted him a kill) so I feel cheated because one of the players that hurt our team was someone I should never have been matched with in the first place (also, seriously, 2 players (bot lane) on my team didn't connect on the loading screen and it still started the game and they were 4 levels behind when they finally connected, why didn't it wait for them to load?). Back to topic though, why was I matched with someone I had blocked? Is there any way to prevent getting matched with someone that you didn't like playing with in solo queue?

My question is, If XBOX Live can do this with its "avoid player" option. Why cant RIOT?

The short answer is, you can be matched with people you've blocked because the chat coded separately from the matchmaker. While it might be nice that such weren't possible, it would likely create issues amongst the top tier players, where the matchmaking pool becomes much smaller. Blocking people could then be abused to game the system.

It would at least be nice to have some indication that I had blocked that player in the lobby pre game... I could never see anything he wrote so had he asked for a role I may have just completely ignored his request unknowingly. It also doesn't give be the chance to dodge the queue (considering I only block people that I really couldn't stand playing with and frankly am a fairly reasonable person) and if I block someone I should at least get to make that choice.

I was hoping the blocking would keep them out of matches, also If I could block every bot I come across that would suit me greatly. My whole block list in the last month consists of bots.

What do you mean "bots"?

bots are non human players, normally they just roam around and are useless, might as well be playing 5 vs 4, however, I have been in game that I was the only human player :(
