I feel like with Garen specifically Riot doesn't know what his specialty is

It's splitpushing and sieging that he is actually pretty decent at

I think this should have been the focus of the rework instead of just slapping on a random mechanic he'll barely ever get use out of on his R (and technically E)

Combine all the current changes that makes him weaker early to mid and buff the shit out of what he was always picked for: Killing Structures like a motherfucker

Passive cannot be interrupted by Structures

Q deals bonus damage to structures and the MS bonus is doubled when running at alive/dead Structures

W damage reduction against Structures is doubled and dealing damage to Structures reduces CD by .5 per Auto or tick of E (doubled for Q and Inhibs)

E deals full damage to Structures and increased damage to minions within a structure's attack range. These damages are increased if Garen is currently taking damage from the said structure he is attacking/guarding the minions.

R can be cast on Turrets for increased damage and treats them as Villainous if they kill a certain number of his Minions

The thing is these changes don't diminish Garen's ability to split push or siege in any way. All they add is a bit more strength (albeit random strength...) in team fights.

Garen definitely doesn't need any extra help in the pushing department...

how is he good at sieging exactly? i usually feel pretty useless when my team is sieging a turret against the enemy team. walking under the turret and hitting it is mostly not an option. i also dont have poke to contribute.

i mostly sit next to my squishies and look threatening, so the enemy doesnt get any stupid ideas to try and engage on them while they poke.

granted, that IS useful but nothing a lot of other champs cant do. even olaf can throw some axes.

split pushing, yes. he is good at that.

i dont know how big its going to be. the removal of tenacity will make it harder for him to run away, when the enemy team comes for him. the removal of the crit scaling makes him synergize less with ghostblade, which was incredibly useful to splitpush.

youre at the enemy turret, hit the active to gain as and take it down.

i almost wonder if it was possible to have him deal half of his spin damage to turrets. it would be kindof interesting if he could actally destroy them by spinning on them.

Tomorrow's build won't have a ton of changes for Garen, just a few small late game nerfs and the re-introduction of Crit to Judgment (E). I know it's a bummer to see a few nerfs in the changes, but seriously, this guy is currently a late game monster. Either way, I'm happy to discuss more if people have concerns.

Here's the changes:

Q - Decisive Strike Movement Speed Duration changed 1.5/2.25/3/3.75/4.5 >>> 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 W - Courage Armor/MR stacking effect reduced to .25 from .3 Effectively requires 120 unit kills to be fully stacked now E - Judgment Total Attack Damage Ratio .47/.49/.51/.53/.55 >>> .46/.47/.48/.49/.50 (Reintroduced) Judgment can once again critically strike for bonus damage

im stoked. so i.e. will be an option for him once again, and ghostblade once again has the perfect stat combination for him and remains an attractive buy.

together with his old stacking w passive this will give him a lot of build diversity. something ive always hoped to see.

his item pool is really large now. my body is ready.

i don´t really like his splitpushing...he´s just not really fast in takingdown structures and not saver than e.g. tryn. If you want a dedicated splitpusher there are way better picks.

His main strength is flanking into a teamfight, silencing and judging a carry down - and that´s exactly what the "rework" puts emphasis on. So if they bring back some of his early strength i´say the direction of the changes is actually decent.
