When you can tell in champ select what team is going to win...

Yet Riot claims their game is fair, balanced and healthy. Okay.

Sure would be nice if a game balanced around the game itself, instead of balancing around money. But things just don't work that way anymore.

Last I check a skin doesn't make me a better player o.o; Now sure how money actually tilts people in this game lol.. The game is balanced because ANYONE can pick a champion. If most people played the champions they claim to be OP there wouldn't be issues.

My thoughts is he's mad that some champs are over powered and kept that way because they sell skins or make LCS fun to watch.

How many skins does Teemo have? How many LCS games you see him in?

If that was the case , Jhin would of had 4 by now.

"but, but, but, ashe was slightly op on release of her ult"

^ This right here. Also part of why I hate bullshit F2P, yet everyone still worships it.

As someone who mains AurelionSol Volibear , two of the most counterable champions in the game (Voli with disengage and Sol with Engage), I haven't noticed this problem so much.

If i lose it's because I either played bad, lost patience, or didn't respect my enemy enough. If you were able to predict which team is going to win in champ select you simply bet on the higher probability and got lucky

Lovely complaint. What's the story behind it?

Details?

I think you can find more than enough details if you look through my post history. ^^

Enemy picks Zac, Yasuo, Vayne, Janna, Kayle. What the fuck do you do?

Ralanr5 votes

Dodge everything and focus the Vayne.

And keep Kayle behind.

You can't keep Kayle behind because she just AFK farms

'Dodging everything' isn't a real counterplay option, otherwise Ezreal would never be played by Pros

Vayne is invisible and crits for 1500 from first hit, cant focus her

Janna can peel

Zac can peel

Yasuo has windwall + a followup engage from Zac

Vayne is god-mode even if Kayle is behind.

Or just dodge. (unless you got an equally op teamcomp ofcourse)

I don't think it's Riot's fault I can tell which team will win in champ select just by which team actually picked a tank instead of 5 carries.

To me, there are no champions better than my main, only players better than me.

ah yes so in this equal skill level on both teams match, the team that picks the current best characters out of the 133 has a much better chance of winning instead of the team that did not pick the best characters

it's almost as if nearly every single competitive game is like this..

Niyumi2 votes

Every competitive game? Not really. WoW PvP, DOTA (how many champs were picked in their championship series? Thrice the number of League?), GW2 PvP, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Starcraft, so on.

It's just that Riot is exceptionally greedy, and refuses to balance their game -- and how they get away with that is what confuses / upsets me.

Giga Kahuna1 votes

starcraft has 3 factions overwatch has 23 characters hearthstone has 32 decks(?) guild wars 2 has 9 professions world of warcraft has 12 professions

i'm sure out of all that there's tier lists of what's good and what isn't, but because there's such a minor amount of choices in all of them, "bad" characters can still be useful in niche situations, and it's much easier to balance a small amount of characters over 133 characters

in league of legends, there's multiple characters that can fit into niche counterpick positions (poke adcs such as cait, ez, corki, characters with hard engage such as naut, hec, vi, tanks with huge cc such as sion, shen, leona, you get the idea), whereas in a game like overwatch though, if you need a long-range character for getting picks, you've got hanzo and widowmaker, and then you have to choose between a closer-ranged, more utility based character or a much longer ranged character meant almost exclusively for taking out priority targets. you don't have a large amount of choices for either positions, you've got one character for their specific playstyle

the only one that comes close to league's character amount is dota 2, and only seven out of 110~ weren't picked in dota 2 championship, and that could just be because dota has a much more "unique" cast of characters that can fill very specific niche picks or can be good in a broad range of compositions

i also did say nearly every competitive game, not all of them

Vayne Yasuo Zac Fiora Leona Vs Syndra Nasus Irelia Yorick Ashe

Can you guess who won? Because this was a game entirely decided at champion select.

RookPusher4 votes

You mean because the bottom team has no support?

Niyumi1 votes

I'm goinna say the first team, unless they fuck up hardcore.

Ding ding ding. Youd be correct.

Fiora has incredibly stupid damage and chase. Vayne is broken. Yasuo only needed a shiv to 1v1 a fed irelia. Botlane roflstomped. And jungle? Jungle was okay. The zac was the real support, using a single ability to set up for the yasuo who then did 800+ crits.

Wow, a game where Syndra loses?

She MUST have missplayed. She's sooooooooo OP she should be able to 1V1000 with her mass ult and point-click ult thay 1 shots tanks with 5000 HP.

You mean team one actually had a semi decent comp (although lacking in AP) while team 2 had a garbage comp, and all of this doesnt even depend on the champions individual strengths.

"semi decent" ---> ALL DAMAGE (minus support). The second team had its strengths. But it was a case of champion > skill. especially when Between nasus and syndra, we were deleting the yasuo and zac. But fiora and vayne are beyond overpowered and would be late, then 2v5.

Skorch1 votes

I disagree, it wasnt the champions themselves being op. A lot of those champs countered champs you had. You had no support while leona has more cc than your entire team herself. And it sounds as if the Zac went AP and not tank (which although stunning) actually gave his team some AP damage, so that yorick and nasus couldnt just build armor. And while since vayne was on that team armor wouldnt do too much itd still help agains the rest.

On top of that CURRENTLY Vayne > Ashe (ashe is surprisingly low on ADC winrate with how strong crit is) Fiora hard counters nasus, Yasuo can have some difficulty but generally beats syndra, Im assuming Irelia was JG in which case Zac has the (possibly tank) to help his team as well as better clear, and more cc than irelia. And i can only guess it was yorick support in which case leona destroys him in utility.

I dont have the exacts of that entire game, but they just flat out HAD A BETTER COMP, so while yes you can tell who would win from the start of the game, Its comparative not PURELY champion based.

game balance never sucked before in the past year

i'm sorry but this is the worst month i ever saw and it doesn't look good for next month either

i just want morde buffed anyway so i can play normal games i don't want rankeds.

I dunno, I've won 2 out of 3 games since I bought Santa-Braum.

Small sample size ftw!

If you got 4 tryhards on their level 7 400k main, no shit your team is going to stomp jimmies when the enemy team is on mastery level 3 champs

My gf is just learning the game and she doesn't understand how I can determine if we will win or lose before the game even starts, and I'm right almost every time. Oh to be young and naive again.

Excluding the minor issue of dramatic skill difference between players that actually decides the game

Niyumi2 votes

I'm talking dramatic as in gold vs. diamond or challenger vs low diamond or something like that.

sirwaterfles1 votes

In what world do both yas and vayne get trough the banphase ?

Niyumi1 votes

I've seen it a lot, actually. xD

sirwaterfles1 votes

But them ending up on the same team something went wrong. Normally if they both get trough its because both teams preselected them and all the banners were nice enough to not 'accidentally' ban them and they just end up being traded on first pick.

riot does not penalize you heavily for leaving champ select

also people aren't really able to tell whos gonna win in pro games, it probably isn't that easy to predict unless you suck and you know it, in which case it still isn't riots problem

Niyumi1 votes

Mmm, I could usually predict the outcome of the games. There really is no level playing field when it comes to balance in this game.

in high elo what your saying is true in low elo most of the time not.

Usually when my top locks in singed and tries to split push in bronze. Which mostly just gets us and him killed a bunch of times in a series of 4v5s then 1v5.
