Now that AD assassins have a new toy

Can we take a look at the abysmal CDR items for mages?

item 3165 A solid item now that the cost is back down, still not a great choice for any champion without mana costs, still a bit annoyed about the GW nerf.

item 3174 Awful item on nearly everyone, but especially those without mana issues.

item 3115 Niche item for Kayle, Teemo, Diana, and AP Xin. That's about it.

item 3100 Another niche item that's not very good on most mages.

item 3152 Another niche that's good on maybe two mages.

That's it. That's all we get. It's impossible for most mages to viably get max cdr without using runes.

I'm not entirely okay with reliance on an outside source (runes) to reach the 40% cap on mages, but I can deal with that if we just had more options that work on the majority instead of the rare cases. Five items for cooldown reduction, but only one is usable on most AP champions and it still comes with wasted stats for nonmana users and against teams without healing.

Yes, that's the point. Just run the damn runes you miser.

No other role or class has to use runes to max out on a stat they use. No other role or class has to use runes to max out cdr.

No role or class has to use runes to max out on a stat they use. Not even mages. Not even CDR.

Oh yeah? Tell me how well you do with that morellos-nashers veigar.

Sounds op, you still one shot people late game and your auto attacks do damage, I feel like I've seen it somewhere though.

Well, the only stat you can even "max out" is CDR, so that's a really bizarre argument to make. You can technically max out AS but no one ever does so there's 1 strike against it. As for CDR, yes, yes they do if they dont want to build subpar items. Tanks realistically have 30% avaiable from item 3025or item 3110+item 3065. They need the last 10% somewhere else. Juggernauts get the same 30% from item 3071 +item 3065 and need to get the last 10% elsewhere. Even item 3508 adcs would much preferitem 3006 oritem 3009 over item 3158 if they can get away with it.

item 3190 item 3110 item 3065 40% for tanks, you can even throw item 3056 in there if you'd rather armor than MR. And if you're going support as a tank you've got item 3401

item 3071 item 3025 40% for juggernauts. Can even throw item 3065 in there considering every juggernaut in the game has healing. Nasus DrMundo Darius Garen Illaoi Udyr TahmKench Volibear

item 3071 item 3142 item 3812 There's AD assassins.

item 3508 item 3078 + any crit item there's ADC.

Supports I'm not even gonna bring up.

All viable options. And aside from reaching 40% relatively easily, I think I'm more annoyed about the versatility of the other roles' options.

Like I said, mages have one good item, the rest are incredibly niche. Like three champs use spellvamp, Athene's is a shit item almost always, not many attack speed mages out there, and not many mages that use autoattacks for anything but last hitting.

Love how this guy just skimmed over the fact that mages have less cdr options compared to the champions who don't need to worry about mana, or cdr.

ADC's have more options to get mana back, with free crit and CDR and constant damage compared to, like, you know, the mage that needs to actually use abilities. Kappa.

I didn't skim over anything. Mages benefit from max CDR more than any other class and therefore should have to make more sacrifices to get it. You already get the most varied and useful itemization options in the game; running CDR runes won't kill you. I've just been running 20% at lvl 18 since the season started. Really not that hard.

Not a mage item. Also, it's not going to get you to max cdr. At most, 30%.

Also, Lucidity boots are very much a Mage item.

The Bearded Bard1 votes

That's why assassins, supports, and adc use them. Just because mages use them doesn't make it a mage item. Frost Queens claim is still a support item despite its use by mid laners. Mid laners use it more because it's the best option in a sea of shitty options, and a bit because of the utility of it.

It's a caster item.

LB is great on every mage. What are you talking about? Even on mages who have long cooldowns can use the passive to poke towers down very easily.
