Can people stop with the "Bard is underpowered" threads. Bard tips.

Besides the point that I think its just three users spamming these over and over, we're talking about a champion on release with a whole new play style and mechanics unknown to league players.

Number one, he's a full support. Riot designed him like this. No, you do not take him in the jungle, no you can't put him mid like Sona or Zilean, or top like Braum or Taric.

He has one "offensive" ability, but I wouldn't even count it for its damage, nor should I. It has the potential to stun two champions for almost 2 seconds at max rank. That's longer than Sona's ult and it has a way shorter cool down. If Morgana's Q didn't hurt as much as it does now it would still be viable, so why do people want cosmic binding to do more damage? That's not the point of Bard's design to begin with.

His low base movement speed is probably there because you'll be putting a lot of movement speed items on him. You can't build him as a full ap mini mage like some supports, but these days there are a lot of items that use item 3113 and Bard loves that spiritual stuff. For the rest of his build, you'll be building quite tanky.

His ultimate is one of if not THE most powerful set up/disengage abilities in the game. Yes, I've Queued in with Bards, and yes, they downright ruin our own team fights with his ult. But that's not the champion's fault, that's the summoner's fault.

His identity in the game is a fast tank who goes around the map, collecting red bulls and delivering pizzas to your lane buddies. Basically, if you believe in Santa Clause, this is how you'd play him. Watch the champion spotlight and you get a good idea on how to effectively play him. WHEN to roam and when NOT to roam. If anything, I think the little chime mini game is not so much there as a way to get experience, but as a insentive as a support to stop trying to clear minion waves (that's for your carries) and go around the map, destroying wards, placing wards, picking up chimes, delivering pizzas, setting up ganks etc. He's probably the most balanced support ever in that regard.

I played bard for the first time last night. Our entire team was behind but with a few awesome set ups, we were able to win three team fights in a row and push for the win. My predictions about bard are true. He is a very good champion. You just don't play him like other champions.

Yeah "Having uses" doesn't mean "Is good." Too much of what Bard does is insanely situational, and most importantly, even his supportive characteristics are unreliable. His AoE slow on Meeps is marred by his 500 range and 330 jogging speed. His "Super badass wonderstun" requires enemies to be standing very close and, despite its range, only works as a stun at mid-close range. His heal is...a joke. Magical Journey has uses but lacks the flexibility to really be worth noting. And his ult, while fantastic, has a long delay before it hits limiting its use as either a protective tool or as engagement.

I remember when a bard ulted me at the exact moment i ulted as Tryndamere .

The worst part is that he genuinely was trying to help.

Bard has taken the "I'm Helping" mantra from J4 in the most fantastic of ways.

Op just played bard once and got carried, and thinks hes good.

because supports don't have any influence on the game whatsoever

in every pro game, four players play and that one guy goes afk because supports don't matter, amiright?

yeah because no one ever said that. Cool how you make up statements though

Sarcasm.

Op just played bard once and got carried, and thinks hes good.

Now this is making up statements. Love how people don't see sarcasm and then accuse that person of doing exactly what they were called out doing.

Just saying.

You said his identity is a fast tank, but is he really a tank? It seems like he is just pure utility.

He can poke, but isn't amazing at it because meep damage isn't that scary early game (compare to Sona and Karma)

He definitely isn't a tank though. His engage is alright, but his peel is pretty awful. (compare to Thresh, Alistar, and Braum) and there is no reason to focus him.

Honestly the closest support that comes to mind when I think of Utility is Lulu, but even she has way more peel and damage than Bard.

It just seems like he is a generalist gone wrong. He has hard CC, soft CC, sustain, poke, mobility, and late game scaling but all these qualities are situational or have some sort of "catch" to them (ie. 2 people for stun, need to wait for sustain, need to collect chimes or go through walls for mobility, etc.) which is ironic because he is supposed to be THE roamer, but kinda plays as a generalist also.

Bard is nowhere near a tank; he has no defensive abilities, his description says he's a mage. I do agree that he's very similar to Santa Claus though in that you'll only see someone use him once a year.

He is underpowered tho. He has very little impact in the early game, aside from W start to get the jungler rolling and counterengage with his Q since its range is just so pathetic..
