It's funny to me that people QQ about Yasuo's windwall and how it's an "anti-ranged" spell

HateDaddy··6 votes·1,573 views

And people pretend as if it has a 2 second cooldown lol

This is one of like, maybe 2 anti ranged spells in the game? Meanwhile, almost every ranged champion in this game has a spell that's completely anti-melee (hello vayne condemn) on basic abilities and nobody bats an eye.

Immobile mages weak something something need buffs lux 56% winrate is balance something

I believe the complaint stems from how it blocks all ranged abilities regardless if they are ultimates or not. shrugs

You know what I meant by ranged abilities, as in projectile type abilities.

So every twenty seconds, Yasuo can block one poke spell? lol

So...poke spells encompass all projectiles?

Any ranged ability with a projectile which is more than 2/3rds of the spells in the game. In some cases Windwall could deny an entire Kit, not just a few auto attacks and a single spell. Plus it doesn't have a cast time so it feels like a load of crap when you cast a very high cooldown spell (usually an Ultimate) only to see him completely nullify it a half-second before he's supposed to die.

And champions like Vayne with condemn, any targeted CC like Ryze's snare etc is a complete fuck you to melees and invalidates them 100% but nobody bats an eye at this.

And any projectile spells is also typically extremely spammable, so again, windwall blocks one spammable spell every 20 seconds?

Lugg2 votes

Vayne and Ryze's abilities are a big F U to all champions, not just melee.

Wind wall blocks ALL ranged spells while it's up. It completely negates poke comps. It's a normal ability for Yas, but is more powerful than 75% of the ults in the entire game.

Poke comps.

You mean comps where you sit in the fog of war and spam abilities from 2000 range away? If you play this comp go fuck yourself and uninstall no one wants to play against that pussy ass shit. ROFL.

Zero counterplay comp suddenly has counterplay, suddenly everyone screams OP.

Lugg5 votes

Zero counterplay? All you need is hard engage and you can Ace a poke comp every time.

Anything that outranged Vayne or Ryze doesn't care about condemn or rune prison, especially in teamfights. Melees have no option against this.

How does a 20 second CD spells completely negate poke champs? That's the most backwards ass logic I've ever heard. No poke champ has their main poke spell on a 20 second CD. So again, a poke spell that's spammable can be blocked every 20 seconds? Do you know what negate even means?

Lugg3 votes

Wind wall counters poke comps because you can use it defensively to keep them from damaging a tower or offensively to take a tower, and there really isn't much they can do about it. If they try to fight you, they have to get in range to be engaged on, which is the biggest weakness of poke comps.

Plus, you do know that Yas can get the CD down to about 13 seconds right?

13 second CD == 2-3 second CD spell that many poke mages have.

This entire response is just wrong, short sighted and lacking in anything realistic. I'm just not going to waste time responding to you anymore.

You're probably one of those people that doesn't realize CDR is the worst stat you can buy on Yasuo

Yosuke Apperu1 votes

Did someone say Fiora's parry?

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

That's because they see windwall up and then decide to use their ult while it's literally right in front of them and scream op cuz they outplayed themselves. Also, take into consideration that G&B is mostly mage mains and since Yasuo can actually interact with champions like Lux he's automatically cancer that can't be countered.

I like how I'm called a noob for complaining about Nasus and Riven, but when people complain about how OP Yasuo is, I just go, "Hello Malzahar and Xerath . Time to get to work."

Yas just buys QSS and Malz is a free kill if he ever even gets on the same screen with Yas the rest of the game.

Malzahar will just completely ignore him from that point onward and roam, he's already made Yasuo waste 1000-ish gold (until much later on when he buys scimitar) to stop an ultimate that will never be used on him again.

Also Malzahar can still just drop E on him for easy harass; especially if a voidling is out (and frenzied); the biggest mistake you can make (besides trying to 1v1 him) is underestimating Malzahar's voidling; Silences also stop item actives so he'll at least get nearly the full duration of E off if Yasuo is determined to use QSS to stop that for whatever reason.

Thats all assuming Malzahar hasn't dumpstered him before he even hits 6 anyway (seriously, I have never lost this matchup. Its absurdly one sided as long as you don't get cheesed at level 2)

That's what any good Yas player will do though.

Ah, but any good Malzahar player will know how to prevent the level 2 cheese (notably you can just hunker down under turret until you hit 3, or just E yasuo if you have a fully grown frenzied voidling up, since he'd be commiting suicide by trying to trade with one up)

Worst scenario I've ever had, is simply trading kills at level 2; he all ins me and I all in with fully grown voidling + E, autos and ignite.

Lugg1 votes

Yes, that is the proper way to play it as Malz. However, trading kills with Yas isn't a good idea. Yas snowballs harder than Malz does.

most people are stupid as shit and use every ability they have knowing his windwall is up.

well technically they don't know its up cause they do it either way

"Immobile mages weak something something need buffs lux 56% winrate is balance something"

Yes, because the Lux buffs totally weren't reacted to almost exclusively with "Lux needs no buffs" threads and Lux mains worrying about how she was clearly going to get nerfed after them.

I don't care about Windwall's balance but if you want to have a conversation about how ranged/mage players are misperceiving something, please don't add something that is literally just there to say "Lol you guys are deluded idiots" to your post. What does being rude to the people you're arguing with achieve? Or are you just not hoping to have a conversation?

There's a key difference that you're missing.

When a ranged champion kites a melee champion, the melee champion's spells aren't going on cooldown without doing damage unless they're using that spell out of range. When the melee champion gets into attack range, they can unload everything. It doesn't matter if they were pushed back or stunned out of range beforehand.

Contrast this to what happens with Unbreakable and Wind Wall. There you were in range, but the spell goes on cooldown without doing any damage. It's far more comparable to a spell shield, but spell shields can't stop every spell fired in a 3.75 second duration.

That's the grief, and why it's not comparable to not getting in range.
