Regarding the removal of spell vamp

I am curious as to what buffs Akali might recieve. "Draco!" You say, "they're not removing hextech gunblade, wtf are you on about Akali buffs?!?!"

Well here's the deal, the components of gunblade are utterly important in this mess. Do you know which component no longer has spell vamp? If you thought hextech revolver, you were absolutely correct. Akali till now has only been able to lane properly when rushing a hextech revolver, as with her stats and abilities, she's horrible pre six without spell vamp, and gets pushed out of lane every minute or so.

Don't let your dislike of Akali cloud your minds, Akali is already somewhat weak at the moment, and as such is forced to play as tank akali. The removal of spellvamp on revolver will only push her further down and force her to go even tankier to compensate. I think Akali, like Vlad, needs compensation, at least to her early game.

The removal of spellvamp on hextech revolver also affects Kennen, who use to enjoy occasionally buying it to sustain through tough lanes, but I believe that he's besides the point because he never needed the spell vamp. Akali will really be needing compensation for this change, as there is no other item that allows her to lane at the moment.

They also stated that they are adjusting said mages since they no longer need to be balanced around having the lousiest laning phases due to their 1200 gold insta-lane sustain.

Do you know if there is a link to that? Because from what I understand they only talked about Vlad.

I personally think the new SV is going to be really good on Akali and that the changes to gunblade will help her even with the vamp removal. http://boards.pbe.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-gameplay-feedback/79cto3EB-planned-69-mana-x-mp5-x-ap-x-mr-item-pass

She will still have spell vamp from her passive, so maybe go for the cutlass first as opposed to the revolver

That would give less than 4 spell vamp, and not increase her spell damage to benefit from the spell vamp. I have already tried cutlass first, it just doesn't work that well.

I mean that's 10% spell vamp, 10% lifesteal, an instant slow, and your E scales better with AD then AP. I'm not saying it will be as good (which I can't say for sure), but it certainly isn't bad.

That unfortunately doesn't win out against 18% spell vamp with a bunch of AP and more onhit damage.

You're not maxing E, nor are you using it often enough to take advantage of the AD scaling. If you do spam it, you'll run out of energy very quickly.

Akali doesn't need the instant slow while laning.

If any other champion got the same things out of cutlass, you're right, it would be good. But on akali, when you're already starting out lackluster, cutlass just doesn't cut it (not pun intended).

Cutlass doesn't benefit akali as much as revolver though..

She still has to build it at some point, and it's still a pretty damn good item for her. Check my reply to Draco
