Has anyone one ever seen Cassiopia late game carry like a Yas/Vayne/Draven/Kog'mow?

I'm asking because she is suppose to be a hyper carry, but I've never seen it. I've been playing her lately and no matter what I do, she doesn't carry.

So I'm curious, how often have you seen Cass carry a game?

perhaps there is a reason you practically never see her.

My Waifu Vanilla3 votes

Probably more because she is still relatively difficult to play and requires your Q hitting to do literally any damage or to kite. Her passive is also non-existent until 6 items and causes her to be slower than most of the roster for most of the game which doesn't help much either (while also making it so she can't get pen items).

ZapMyHeart21 votes

item 3194 counters her badly.

An Undead brat8 votes

As half the AP roster.

AurelionSol Azir Brand Evelynn Fiddlesticks Heimerdinger Karthus Kayle Malzahar Rumble Ryze Swain Taliyah Teemo Vladimir Zyra completely irrelevant after AH. But that's balanced.

Arsenic Sulfur4 votes

I disagree.

10% is not much for how often they deal damage and being practically immune to MR itemization before AH's addition was quite frankly kinda bullshit.

TheUltimateSpear7 votes

It's 20% damage reduction for 4 seconds after being hit by a spell.

I've only seen it a couple times but it doesn't just make DPS mages manageable, it completely fucks them over. If it was at 10% then maybe it'd be okay. But in it's current state it's way too much.

Arsenic Sulfur2 votes

It's not like the item reduces the effect of on-spell-hit effects like Rylai's which is a great pick on most of the mages listed above or any built in side effects of spells. It's flat damage reduction to give tankier champions a better chance against the things AH was designed against.

DPS mages are usually either way in the back of a fight or in the midst of it with bulky AP items such as RoA, Rylai's, or Abyssal Mask which halves the effect of Adaptive helm. CC isn't all that punishing to them either compared to their AD counterpart ADCs as they already dealt their damage by the time CC hits them.

It doesn't completely fuck them over, it just gives them something to take into consideration.

FilDaFunk2 votes

It isn't flat damage reduction.

When you say it just gives them something to consider - there's nothing they can do vs 20% reduction.

TotalJerk1 votes

If Azir gets like 3 autos on a target with AH and we disregard his Q or ult, the passive would lower his damage by like 13.33%

Handy Sandy 20 votes

Out of all the mages she's definitely one of the best to carry late game with, but every AD hypercarry is just better than an AP one because of itemization and well..their kits. KogMaw Vayne Twitch

She does carry better than Draven ofc because he scales terribly and Yas is trash when fighting around baron/drag so she beats him in that. This tank meta should be great for her but she lacks reliable defense vs assassins especially since duskblade exists.

SpecterVonBaren4 votes

Draven's actual scaling isn't bad, its just as good as any other non hyper carry ADC. The reason he falls off is purely because of his axe juggling.

Durzaka3 votes

The thing with Draven is that his axes become a detriment in team fights the faster your attack speed is.

After a certain point, you are losing dps trying to juggle axes instead of just attacking the target.

That sounds like bad scaling to me.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Thing is, I LOVE how Draven falls off. He's one of the most interesting champions in the game because of it. He doesn't fall off because of his build or because his ratios are bad, he falls off because of mechanics. Late game, especially in high elo, he can't just juggle axes because he has to dodge abilities from five different people and fights can roll from a dozen to two dozen Teemo's at times which makes keeping up with juggling even harder.

I just love this from a gameplay perspective because unlike a lot of other champs that scale or fall off due to ratios or itemization, aka stats, he falls off thanks to the mechanical requirement for the champion which is very unique.

Cass main here. She can hard carry mid game if she snowballs. As for lategame she is dangerous but not hyper ranking like other ADCs. Ever since Riot decided to buff lategame ADCs ever AND nerf lategame AP itemization, only ADCs and a few melee carries like Yi/ Yasuo are truly hyper.

Fools Hesltate9 votes

Cassiopeia relies too much on her Q to be a late game carry. These days you pretty much need to have a strong Auto attack in order to be a Carry, so that is why kayle can still count as a carry late game. For other Mages, their damage requires too many conditions to be consistent. A Mages ability to carry is gated by things like mana and cooldowns, which is something Auto attack based Champions don't have to worry about. Cassiopeia can burn through half of her Mana pool just trying to clear a wave, especially if there is a super minion in it. And if she doesn't get her queue off on a Target her e basically does tickle damage. It's just too conditional.

Robrono6 votes

I've seen a decent number of Cassiopeia's hard carry 1v9.

Jeanne fan club5 votes

Bruh I don't think any champion can carry as much as any adc with item 3031 item 3087 in any part of the game.

FantasySniper4 votes

Statistically, yes.

But practically? A sharp minority of her games actually reach that stage, and she could be very easily shut down compared to other hypercarries.

FlyingRoboticCow3 votes

Yes i have seen her carry games in quite insane fashion but its all about the person playing her you need to understand what you're suppose to be doing.

SpecterVonBaren3 votes

Her DPS is conditional on continuing to get poison on someone which makes her one tier more difficult to use than just right clicking someone, she can't use her E on turrets, she's gated by mana and cooldowns, she doesn't have a support babysitting her, her DPS doesn't have crit, her healing doesn't scale with her damage.

Numerous reasons why a mage isn't as good as an AD carry.

Festive Bear1 votes

I used to main her... quite some time ago, and I've been sort of playing her here and there with the changing meta and I find it so difficult to really... Do much with her! Other carries are able to burst and melt, whilst cassiopea just doesn't have that. With the other carries, nobody wants to get close to you. Whilst I've gone 8/2/4 and had people just walk up to me, take every ability I have and kill me no problem

Shrek Luigi2 votes

Yeah, a couple--I'm more inclined to believe that people don't play her much because of her reworked kit/how obnoxious her E and R are to land, rather than her actually being bad.

She definitely isn't a hypercarry, though; even if she can carry hard with that single-target damage. People pick her for her zoning power and to deal with people's dashes--she's a control mage through-and-through.

you but she is suppose to be a hyper carry tho?

PB4UAME1 votes

RIOT even said she was multiple times, and went through many interations of her passive giving her %increased AP, and her current passive saving her the gold and the item slot usually reserved for boots, thus allowing her one additional AP item over other mages, and yet still. . . she's never felt like an AP hyper carry. We used to have 5, Vlad, Ryze, Cass, Karthus, and Veigar. Nowadays, only Karthus and Veigar still deliver on that fantasy.

Shrek Luigi1 votes

The extra slot is usually reserved for one of the two defensive items she generally buys--sometimes even three if one picks her into a sketchy matchup.

Hell, a lot of the time you won't even be buying Rabas on this chick because one would need to spend so much gold on HP and resistances just to survive other players' rotations that it's not even worth throwing that gold toward the extra %AP.

Nine times out of ten, there is WAY more stat-balancing than a run-of-the-mill AP midlaner involved and that totally goes against what being a hypercarry is. That doesn't mean she doesn't do a lot of damage but it does mean she isn't typically interchangeable with the meta hypercarries.

OyddAWqJ5r2 votes

Yes

Automated Riven2 votes

Cassio is not a hypercarry. She is simply a scaling dps oriented mage. She is far stronger late game then other mages typically are.

TwinkiePro2 votes

I've seen her carry, yes, but I{ wouldn't go so far as to say she was a late game hypercarry. The only late game mage I can possibly think of is viktor, as I've seen that champ destroy entire teams.

ReySolomon2 votes

I rarely see a cass.

The Deckowner2 votes

She's more of a mid game carey, similar to Kog, imo.

Armored Yokai2 votes

She's a really strong hyper carry if you manage to use her effectively and if your team isn't dumb enough to not protect you

DemainaNyx2 votes

In my games, no but I'm not high elo so I might just have bad Cass players in my games.

However, I've watched enough pro play to see enough Cass's that carry if the ADC is dead.

Gasburger2 votes

you were probably unable to carry because you had 130 cs at 30 minutes as cassiopeia, and didn't even fully stack your tear. that's why

Starcraft243ver2 votes

Yup.

he's plat 2, and main her.

ModAcademy Kayn2 votes

Maybe because she has more Utility than all those others combined?

Vallalan2 votes

draven is not a late game hyper carry lol.

his axe putting him a predictable spot late game is just too easy to exploit as an enemy.

and yes I've seen cass do it. i don't see cass as much due to her very high skill cap, but she's disgusting late game.

most of the time i see a cass its a cass main and they pubstomp lane, throw their lead in the mid game by being cocky, and then carry late game by doing ridiculous damage.

Disembark2 votes

Well idk why you would group Draven in with these.

Also the difference between Cass and Vayne/Kog is that 1. Cass has much stronger CC, and she does much much more damage early game.

Like the difference is that Cass is also kind of a lane bully while scaling pretty well. She also spikes hardest mid game (when her Rod and Seraphs stack up).

OtterlyLost2 votes

Yes. I've seen Cass carry games like Vayne/Yasuo/Draven. :/ If you're actually good at her, you rip through teams and there is nothing they can do to you because if they get close to you, they'll just melt and die.

Sire Hippington1 votes

Actually alot more often than yasuo...There's a reason for her to have 37.1% Pick/ban and 58.3%win in proplay while yasuo only was played twice this split. Her Dps is absurd, the W offers alot of fight controll and potent followup on allied cc, the ult can win teamfights on it's own. If you can land your Qs and position well, she's a monster. Looking at your games at her, your tiem builts might be part of the issue. Lichbane is not the best item on her, rabadons is a bad rush item, and you certainly want some semi-defensive items like RoA or Banshies on her, she has to little range to go full squishy and her damage is high enough anyway. The standart built is item 3070 ->item 3027 ->item 3165 ->item 3135 ->item 3040 and then two situational items. She has a high skillcap and like most immobile carries profits alot form high team coordination, so she's alot more effective in higher elos.

Fools Hesltate2 votes

Pro Play isn't the same game that the rest of us are playing, though.

Papa Slothy1 votes

She can hypercarry because she's got a lot going for her. She has constant high damage dps, an aoe stun on her ulti (albeit it's pretty easy to dodge), an aoe grounding ability and pretty fast movespeed if you land q's. The big problem with her is that it takes a lot of micro to constantly be kiting and landing q's while looking for a good ulti/w engage. She hypercarries if you understand all your options. I usually think of her as an actual APC, deals tons of damage but is susceptible to hard engages and champs that can jump on her.

Festive Bear1 votes

The one problem I find with her, is you can't do much by yourself like many other carries. Look at yasuo, with a good build he can easily 1v2 1v3. I've seen Vayne late game 1v4. Draven 1v3 1v4 as well. And it keeps going, with cass. I used to main her a while ago... Although now, she's almost worthless 1v1. I've had games where I've been decently fed, and people just come up, take all my abilites, kill me, and walk away like nothing

Papa Slothy1 votes

I think adaptive helm being a thing is a pretty big counter but I think she can 1v1 just fine as long as you have your ult or seraphs, tho I think she struggles to fight multiple enemies due to a lack of aoe

Jackom11 votes

AD carries can threaten tanks, AP carries struggle vs MR as much as any other mage.

Festive Bear1 votes

It kind of turns to a point where AD champions can mostly not bother about armor whilst mages can't do much against MR

Jackom11 votes

Vayne has %health true damage, try itemising against that. Also she works well with botrk. Yasuo gets free %armor penetration from the ult. Kog with botrk deals both %current health physical damage and %max health magic damage. Not as strong as true damage but still hard to itemise against. He also has synergy with runaan, so he can demolish other champs while targeting the tank. Draven isn't as strong vs tanks as the other guys, but a couple Q-empowered attacks still do a lot of damage to pretty much everyone.

Cassio, in order to be an actually strong vs tanks should have either true damage or a way to drastically lower MR. Whatever your amount of AP, you'll still struggle to kill a champ with item 3194 and another MR item.

Mizaya1 votes

She's skillshot reliant so probably will deal less DPS. But there's always the mutli-target stun potential.

Tobias Brackner1 votes

Yes. For random reasons people don't seem to protect her like they would a Koggles but yeah she hyper carries.
