Who actually thought the Elder Dragon execute is a good idea?

Oh your team is winning, but the enemy team somehow stole the Elder Dragon. I guess your team loses now.

Which human being thought that a buff than instant executes at a certain threshold is a good idea? Remember when people wanted damage to be lower, oh never mind when your 4000 HP tank has an effective 3200 HP.

Either remove the Elder Dragon buff. OR Give it a proper cooldown, so if one target gets executed, the rest of the team is immune to the execute effect. OR Make the Elder Dragon buff a special skillshot ability.

Nobody thought this was a good idea.

Baby Ghoul11/22/2019, 8:21:12 AM21 votes

The scary part isn't that someone brainstormed this idea, it's that multiple people signed off on it.

That indicates that their team has a massive blind spot.

Some guy whose paycheck depended on adding something ridiculous nobody wanted to league...again.

Ghostcrawler may be gone, but his influence remains...

The morons who design this game.

LegendmakerGTX11/22/2019, 7:29:47 AM7 votes

Only the fools that is the game balance team thought this is a smart idea. Oh did you even hear? Elder Dragon execute is bug which execute people over 20% hp it's on reddit if you want to see the video of it.

Aetherium Blade11/22/2019, 2:21:15 AM6 votes

Good idea on paper, horrible execution.

If anything I think the Execution should have a global cooldown so that you actually have to choose which target to take out of a fight vs everyone being executable.

TBH i dont think so,they showed many times that dont give a fuck about community opinion and push it anyway for 3 months" to see how -5 ms on irelia impact the game"...

Elder is legit weaker than before for snowballing teams. Y'know. Something people wanted. People have complained over and over that comebacks are impossible, and continue to. In fact, people bitch about new drakes and elder being more snowbally(LOL). Yes, Elder is stronger for teams on the backfoot because it has more equal a value now that it doesn't snowball from drakes themselves and itself. That's a good thing though. If you are ahead at that point in the game, especially if you have the dragon soul, and you lose elder, then yea you kinda deserve to not be fighting for a bit while they have the buff.

It's preseason. It's a time for testing. They fucked up and they now know it. Hopefully they will do something now.

FLASHY PLAYZ (TM)

boricCentaur111/22/2019, 2:15:49 AM1 votes

When you completely ignore all the counter play and how little 800 damage is like 30 mins in.

Like if you lose it and can't fight because of it then don't fight back off and clear waves they're not more tanky.

If you somehow get the dragon soul but manage to get the Elder stolen, the other team deserves the comeback

evolvox11/22/2019, 1:22:55 PM1 votes

They want games end faster?

I don't really have an issue with elder right now. It didn't feel strong before, and now it feels similar in power to Baron. Instead of pushing power though you have the ability to ace and teamfight easily. That's how it should be IMO. Additional win conditions are always appreciated, and allows for more comeback opportunities and 'last ditch' effort fights. I just don't think people understand the point of the change was to make teams make the CHOICE between a late game elder, or a late game baron. What do you want more? The ability to teamfight easier, or the raw stats and pushing power of Baron.

Probably a group of people who replaced the old people and therefore don't even know what league used to be like.

HoldMyPlank11/23/2019, 7:40:48 AM1 votes

I think it balances the amount of momentum a dragon soul gives. If you have a dragon soul you are basically guaranteed to win (unless youre playing from behind).

I think its a good trump card, just need to work out the kinks and maybe reduce the threshold to 10%.

Colactica11/23/2019, 12:07:30 PM1 votes

It was never a good idea.

The game is developed by goddamn children. I will legit fight anyone that thinks Riot Games developer team doesn't deserve firing. Really wish I got to meet one of these idiots IRL, the main goal would be to emotionally hurt them as much as possible for insulting my profession.

Jamaise11/23/2019, 4:20:37 PM1 votes

I literally have experienced it one time this whole patch through about 20 + games I guess. Enemy team got it and once they got it, instant ace in to a win. Really nice.

Zerenza11/23/2019, 7:29:32 PM1 votes

To be fair to elder buff it now has these stipulations.

  1. One team has to have obtained 4 dragons. Meaning one team has a Dragon Soul, dragon's souls are absurdly strong, the Earth Dragon Soul kind of helps make up for the Elder buff's execute, for example, Ocean Buff is also really good on the constant healing. Elder can spawn at 35 Minutes, minimum, maximum it could take 55 minutes.
  2. Elder Dragon Buff will go away when that enemy dies, before it did not.
  3. Both Teams have access to it, in games that aren't even the Elder Buff will almost always go to the winning team. In games that are Even i can see it being an issue but again at point 2, it's HUGE that it goes away when they die, if they're behind and get elder it doesn't matter much if they can't use it.
  4. Elder is currently bugged to execute at much high HP on a lot of champions, i'm not sure when this will be fixed.
  5. If your team is the winning team, the team that's the most ahead, and you lose elder see point 2 and play properly around it. As an assassin it would probably be a great idea to starting killing off squishies, they're the most dangerous with the buff and it might save your team to do so.

The fact of the matter is that elder buff will not win you the game on it's own, especially in situations where your team is significantly behind. Playing well around Elder Buff is what makes it matter, if you lose elder to the enemy team when your in a winning situation you should still be able to win either 1 by killing them or 2 by waiting the buff out and stalling so they can't get much from it, similar to Baron Buff.
