Why did riot changed ahri E damage amplification?

I mean, they took out one of the best items on her... added a little bit of base damage on W and E....and took out a huge part of her damage? Rito why?

Ahri is the next Lee and Riven, dear lord.

She is still strong, far from being gutted.

And the intention was to return her to a kite mage just like how she was meant to be in the first place, I don't know whether the execution would live up to the goal but the purpose I think is justified.

Because she can't be good at both a teamfighting mage and and assassin. Her kit allows her to do too much easy damage with W and R.

It was causing problems at the end of S3 when she could easily DFG->W>->R->Q a target and instagib them. Only one of those abilities was a skill shot. Charm was not required. Now that DFG is gone and she doesn't have to be balanced around it, Riot was left in a stump with her. They can't buff her mage side too much without creating the S3 problem again. So it was just better to remove the assassin side.

As Sekai said. She's still strong. She's just able to be played as a mage again instead of an assassin. IMO it was more fun to play her as a mage anyway. When they changed her into more of an assassin I just haven't been able to enjoy her as much as I used to.

Why would I pick ahri over xerath if I want a mage so? Being able to kite with her Q is not even that good, since she has 3 jumps on her ult already

Because you want mobility and lots of options (particularly after this patch) for outplaying your opponents and dodging skillshots.

I main Xerath, but if my opponent picks Xerath, I'll play Ahri because it's one of his hardest match ups - it's almost impossible to hit her with anything. The key to that is not leading with E and also not Spirit Rushing directly forward like 90% of people do, but circling around your enemy with Spirit Rush (read: in diagonals) and using E when there's ZERO chance for your enemy to dodge.

As SnackieCakes said. Her mobility.

Also don't forget she has sustain.

Xerath is a siege mage. You pick him when you want to be safer in lane and hard dives are not too much of a threat.

Ahri is a kiting mage. You pick her when the enemy doesn't have too much of an ability to lock you down and you can expect to need to move around a lot.

Your comparison is like saying "Why pick Cait when i can give up 50 range and gain a permaslow and stun that Ashe has". They fill very different rolls.
