Riot I don't know how much you're paying pwyff but it probably isn't enough

vfactor95··584 votes·43,800 views

For those of you who don't know Riot Pwyff is the guy who has written the Patch Notes every time they've come out for a while now. I wanted to say this when 4.20 came out but I'll just say it now: This guy is amazing at making Patch Notes not a chore to read through.

An important part of game balance is for players to actually keep up with it. Kind of like how a democratic government doesn't work as well when it's voting population is ignorant of issues, it's harder to balance a game when players aren't aware of balance changes (seems like common sense, but we all know how common that is).

And I'd like to recognize Pwyff for making Patch Notes actually fun to read. Especially for 4.20 (man those patch notes were long), which was chalk full of gameplay changes, the notes kept you from just giving up and winging it for the next week.

So thanks Pwyff, keep the funnies coming for many patches to come

I'll agree. Personally, patch notes for games have always been inherently interesting to me, and I love reading them, but I do realize that I'm a very small minority in that regard.

I love reading them too, but since I'm addicted to surr@20 I know exactly what is going to be in the patch. I read them however for the Pwyff. :D

You still gotta read the Riot notes to see which PBE changes got through :P

We all get a laugh out of them, even in the office. Pwyff, Scarizard and Riot Aether do a really kick ass job writing these things!

I JUST NOW GOT THAT JOKE AND I READ THE NOTES YESTERDAY OMG

Yeah Pwyff does a phenomenal job with his notes. I had a bit of a chuckle when I got down to Rengar's trinket being accidentally affected by cdr.

+1. Also, have you compared the readability of the patch notes now to last year's? Holy crap, the readabilty has come a long way.

I was so glad when they changed the formatting from:

  • Mana cost of a spell has increased to 70 (from 60).

to:

  • Mana cost of a spell has increased from 60 to 70.

The old one was just a PITA to read.

oh yeah that comment about jarvans ult. LOL i laughed for sure.

And pwyff is a cool guy I've talked to him on my NA (now LAN) account a few times.

Rioters need to play league more, they don't know how much their community loves just spending time with them and bullshitting about random topics(about league ofc)

Lots of rioters are afraid to really get in there and have fun, its really sad tbh.

I feel like most of them use the excuse "I'm so busy with XXX" a lot, just to avoid social interaction with their general community.

Sometimes they need to remember, not all of us want to bitch at them every time we see them and just have fun and fuck around for an hour or 2.

only issue is that Riot Employees ARE real people.... And there are like literally bajillions (that is now a term) of people that each want their own "couple of hours" to bullshit around and also address balance topics. Also, as much as I love programming, I don't always wanna take work home with me.

my favorite comment was further down in 4.21 patch when he was like "Is anybody even reading this part anymore?"

I agree, the patch notes are great fun, and some are really memorable. Such as the "Old and busted" patch notes for Olaf ages ago. Never change Pwyff.

Although pwyff does make great patch notes, I doubt your thread is going to cause Riot to give him a raise

I find it hard to get interested in the patch notes when they continue to nerf Fiddles :(. His fancy way of saying it doesn't make it better for me.

Agreed. Having combed through every WoW and Dota patch since... ever, I have to say that, unlike those, I actually look forward to reading the patch notes. The other games make it difficult to find what you are looking for, don't do any explaining of the actual change, so you have to figure that out yourself, which can sometimes be difficult with the way they word things and leave out certain bits of math. On the other hand, League patch notes are well-explained and even humorous on occasion. Give that man a raise.

It takes dedication and talent to make even the game's patch notes amazingly fun.

Stay awesome, Pwyff.

Agreed, Pwyff does an amazing job. Definitely one of the best things to happen to patch notes since the old comics for the patch previews came out.

Writers are always underpaid. Making interesting content is always hard. You should give him a nice christmas bonus for making the new patch notes a lot more fun to read.

note I still read them in the past but It's a lot more fun now.

Reading Patch Notes are a joy, the only other game I can say that for is Team Fortress 2.
