ADC is the worst fucking role in the game right now

"but ADC is picked every game, they aren't bad!"

funny.

As ADC you don't have any agency over the lane or over yourself. You get out damaged by most supports for the majority of the game. Auto attacks deal a whopping 150 damage to 3k hp enemies unless you have a huge lead or at least 3 items + boots. If anyone jumps on you you're guaranteed to die because you're useless unless your teammates are there to peel for you. You're completely dependent on someone else in lane to decide whether or not you live or die.

The only reason why ADCs are picked every game is because if, and this is a BIG IF, their team can reliably play around them, they will be able to output consistent DPS.

ADC feels so fucking shit to play. It's horrible. I can't stand it and yet I'm the only one who has the game knowledge required to play it for my competitive team.

being picked every game means they arent weak lol. if assassins or tanks or fighters are weak they don't get picked. some marksmen are bad. but marksmen are not

marksmen do safe and high damage in the cover of a team. you don't also get to have high agency (even though a good handful of marksmen do anyways)

It's all solo laners and junglers right now.

still better than traditional supports where you win lane and lose game because your adc wastes his lead while you are not allowed to do anything on your own.

Sure both classes are dependent on others but when the stars align and you don´t get blown up in two seconds as an adc you have the chance to perform well and reap the benefits, while as a support you can make all the plays in the world, but if your teammates decide to just fuck around it will be all for naught.

so in a way, it´s both horrible but I would take the adc´s limited agency with reliable payoff over support´s frontloaded agency with unreliable payoff, because not being able to do anything sucks, but doing everything you can just to see that it was all in vain is, in my opinion, worse.

Yeah. Even my waifu doesn't feel very strong anymore. Maybe I have to change waifus. Maybe Kai'Sa. Hmm...

The problem is unflexible build paths for ADCs, though this applied to many other champs as well.

With a few exceptions, they all go into crit or on-hit. On-hit provides lifesteal and damage. Crit provides just damage.

Currently crit is basically the only way ADCs scale into late game. Certainly on-hit is strong as well, but usually on-hit champs build crit afterward anyway so they can kill squishies.

This entire build tree (crit + on-hit) offers nothing in the way of health, CDR, mana, armor, magic resistance, etc. If you build anything else except crit or on-hit you are delaying your multiplicative powerspite. On-hit users are more flexible in this regard because they can choose to just focus on tank-killing after their 2 item core, but to scale into a late-game carry they need crit as well.

Compare this to mages (excluding on-hit mages), which really have a singular build "tree" - damage. Damage mixed with every imaginable stat. Tank killing, CC, mana, CDR, armor, MR, all of it. And all of it it useful the entire game. Some mages are locked ito pretty static build paths (especially DoT mages like Cassiopeia). But in general they will outdamage ADCs at all stages of the game, if they land their skillshots (mage players are far more "marksman" than ADCs, by the way).

Also compare to melee ADCs who build crit - Tryndamere and Yasuo. Both have built in crit, mobility, lifesteal/shield, and some other powerful defensive mechanic. A lot of this stuff, I can see being necessary for their balance because they're melee. But why, beyond this, do they need free crit chance? The reason, I think, is that building crit chance is too shitty and unattractive, so they must be specially enticed to built it.

Besides the fact that having RNG in this game is stupid, if crit is going to remain, then ADCs should have some more flexible build path to get there, because having to build 3 items focused purely on damage is stale. And unfortunately this isn't going to chance with the crit item rework.

Yeah kinda true, I like the idea of working with partner and being squishy but doing alot of damage, that's just a part of the role. But the name ad CARRY doesn't even fit. You can not carry without teammates. How fed you are, if you see a decent assasin you are dead. And in low elo your support jus't doesn't stick with you.

If they have agency they are completely broken and take over every lane. Some adc's have decent selfpeel and are immediately cancerous to face in lane as a melee. The only limit to ADC's power is lacking agency.

That being said, there's too much damage (and burst) in the game. Reduce that a little bit, and adc's will immediately feel better when they don't get oneshot easily anymore.
