Why does Rammus get AD from his passive but no Physical Damage or AD scalings?

Because every champion has a 100% AD scaling ability with, at max, a 1.5 second cooldown.

And its autocast.

What's the difference, again? Other than, of course, rambling about the parts that don't matter like "you can't rank up autoattacks!" and "You have to press a key for abilities!"

And "abilities don't apply on-hit effects or crit" is a provably false statement.Gangplank

Because, as we all know, all abilities always stun entire enemy teams while suppressing them and knocking them up, and there are absolutely no abilities that just deal damage. Nope. No abilities that bear any similarities to autoattacks, they're completely different and you could never compare an autoattack to an ability under any circumstances.

Abilities don't draw creep aggro though (unless they are treated like an auto-attack). Your arguments are disingenuous, there's enough difference between auto-attacks and abilities to make the distinction in classification.

Oh no, a single incredibly minor difference that continues to miss the core point of my argument! The horror!

Because huffing paint is apparently a common after-school activity for you people, I'm talking about every champion benefitting from Attack Damage because every champion has the ability to Autoattack, as opposed to having AP scalings which a number of champions simply don't have. Rammus is a jungler. Junglers frequently autoattack monsters. Ergo, Rammus benefits from AD even without having AD scaling abilities. Rather than nitpick about the completely meaningless details, get your head out of your ass and look at the big picture.

If you hadn't gratified the initial reply to your post with a response then I would have never replied in the first place. Instead you chose to engage them in a pointless argument over semantics, rather than restate the initial point contained in your post. If you're going to waste time by engaging in a pointless debate that doesn't even address the underlying point you were trying to making in your initial remark, then don't act so fatigued when people decide to treat your argument as literal. Additionally I don't think anyone here missed the point you were making, you were just so intent on being a smartass about it that we couldn't help but call you on it.

Its not autocast because all autos have windups and cast animations.

...I'm getting the sneaking suspicion someone doesn't know what "autocast" means.

Here's a hint: It doesn't mean "does not have a casting animation."

It's supposed to help with his jungle clears and dueling, His w shreds armor y'know but he can't itemize for ad anymore since Atmas is gone. If it gave ap they would have to nerf all his abilities. Only tank that deserves and ap scaling with armor is Braum.

His e is the armor shred.

i always wondered that, it literally makes no sense since 2 of his abilities scale off of AP

The5lacker4 votes

Because tanks build all the AP, am I right?

some times i like to build rylais on volibear just to mess with the enemy team

That's bearly entertaining.

TBH, RaMage isn't bad, sorry about the thread necromancy, but as a Rammus main, if you've ever seen Rammus with the following build survive an early top through heavy ganking, it can be brutal.

item 3174 item 3157 item 3116 item 3027 item 3001 item 1316

i think it's because of the amount of power he's going to have from building JUST armor.

think top Rammus with a thornmail/Sunfire at top

i think it's to help him in jungle

Pretty sure all tanks auto attack and he even has an armor shred on his taunt... He's not the only tank where there's some form of power from auto attacks either, such as Sej W, Malph W, Maokai Passive, etc

Coaltar1 votes

Archaic design. I'm fine with it though, I like Rammus how he is.

Because I'm pretty sure he was built as Galio's counterpart.

Galio: 50% MR converted to AP Rammus: 25% armor converted to AD Both melee attackers, shielding abilities on W (though different mechanics obviously), and AOE ults.

In the old game, you'd pick Galio against AP heavy teams, Rammus against AD heavy ones.

Rammus came quite awhile before Galio existed.

I think that's sort of the point. Armor feeding into AD feeding into abilities sounds like a very obtuse and roundabout way of having your abilities scale with armor, which is already the case with his W. If he had an AD scaling to his abilities and a steroid to go with it, that scaling would have to be mitigated just to account for that specific source, which would just dilute the power of his kit (see Galio and Malphite, who have steroids that factor into ability scalings and thus have abilities balanced around those, which aren't as strong as they could be). The AD on Rammus is also only there to have him land meatier autoattacks, so while not particularly interesting it does its job fine.
