-5 ms btw.

Literally worse than when they nerfed Vayne by 5 AD.

Except when that happened Vayne's winrate actually had a noticeable dip. 5 base AD is a lot in the early game, more than you may think.

Irelia pushed the wave and you didn't respect her damage, punish her for getting CS/stacks, or back up to tower to let the wave crash and reset. Sounds pretty okay to me.

no, she let you push the wave, and now she Q'd all the caster minions so they dont shred her

I do agree her getting/maintaining her passive and conqueror just off minions with her q is tough. I always just last hit and let her push me in so she gets frustrated and tower dives or I can poke from safety. But I also play tanky mages so I can lock her in place if she gets too frisky. Usually use lissandra or galio into her.

I just play garen and fight her immediately at lvl 1 and 2. Low elo Irelia players tend to Q to a minion right next to me so I can get a free engage lol.

She is extremely easy to fight early on and can be zoned really easily. People don’t really understand that it’s when she is given the chance to stack conq and her passive that she can fight. They don’t really know that you have to get an early lead and zone her lol.

Ahh that makes sense! Thank you for the tip!

Np. She gets easier to counter when you know what to do lol

This is just a general rule for all champs, but I would recommend that you try and at least learn the basics of Irelia and play her a couple of times in both mid and top. This works better when you lane against the champs that you play/main so you experience the other side of the matchup and you can get first hand experience on what you need to do to counter the champ.

I personally never played Irelia because I don’t want to fall into the same hole as the “follow the meta” players, I just don’t like her kit that much (I enjoy playing champs with simpler kits), and also the issue of money to get Irelia lol. All I did was find a counter strategy for me that generally works against Irelia. And on that note I would recommend that you don’t fully believe/trust my advice and that you also look at a wide variety of counter tips/guides to also compare to your experience of playing with, as or against Irelia (or other champ that you want to learn how to play against)

Why the hell does this have five downvotes

I guess they hate me not liking to play meta champs for some “freelo” when I know that it actually requires skill to play with these “freelo” champs and I prefer to play less meta champs. (Like nasus lol)

Alzon1 votes

Wym Nasus is freelo :^)

Doge20201 votes

Lol yeah...

But jokes aside, I’m mastery lvl 7 with nasus and I can 100% say that nasus is not freelo when you pick him up. He requires a ton of macro and even micro knowledge, and other stuff like matchup knowledge. Some matchups you want to do X and Y, why into another you want to do Z during the early game. Nasus requires a ton of knowledge and practice and it gets even harder in high elo where people know how to correctly play against you and they have pocket picks to fuck your ass up hard lol.

That's funny, I dont have much issue with Garen.

Well then I guess we have different experiences then. You obviously know enough about the matchup to succeed against low elo or maybe even high elo garen players. While I know enough about Garen and Irelia to capitalize on the low elo Ireli player’s mistakes and snowball.

My sample size is pretty small also. I play very few top champs when I do go top. I can see how a good Garen could cause issues.

True, same thing kinda for me. It just so happened that once when I played against an Irelia top the bully grasp build was overall the best (this was during the Q buff that made Garen a monster top for low elo). And when I would do what I suggested I would usually win against the Irelia. Sadly I can’t really test the build more because most of the time Irelia is banned and when she is picked, she goes mid and absolutely face rolls over my midlaner because he/she doesn’t know how to respect the Irelia’s damage or how to counter pick/counter play her.

......OP be real, here anyone stacking up conqueror after claiming a minion number advantage will probably decimate your healthbar.

Jax and Darius are both exceptionally good at this as well.

Irelia is just super cheesy and the trick is to (if possible) attack her the moment you see her start stacking initially or back up, after all if she speedily clears the minions the wave will push and thats not really bad, makes it easier for you to freeze it near the tower and jungler to gank.

Her best chance to kill you is to do it lvl 2 by starting Q, slowly damaging the wave and then clearing the wave out and ensuring that she hits lvl 2 first where she immediately gets her E, because at this point her passive&conq will be stacked , she will be 1 lvl ahead and she will probably also have a minion advantage.

This is the standard irelia cheese, countered heavily by someone either fighting her at lvl 1 and beating her daylights out or by someone hitting lvl 2 first or at the same time.

As for later on,,,,,,just treat her the same you would a camilie,vi, wukong or a xin zhao, if ranged then you are usually dead by default if they gapclose and if melee it depends on your champ.

Just run away dude.I mean -5ms...she is never gonna catch you.

I can't say much other than play Poppy. Your w will interrupt her q making it go on cooldown and once it's back up, the mark on you will be gone. It's very frustrating for her and Poppy is a very hard counter.

"I stayed near her when she was telegraphing her intent to engage. I guess I should walk away and wait for the stacks to drop before trying something to make sure I win the trade, but I'd rather whine about it on the boards rather than improve my own playstyle."

"I decided to play league instead of doing literally anything else which means i got blessed by riots great designs that force me to basically never interact ever with anyone or i die".

This is basically it. Never try to do anything ever because irelia gets her stacks so fast there is zero opportunity to deal with her other than bruteforce her down with someone like darius.
