PSA: If your laner frantically pings "danger" when you gank, do not gank

Zero Skill Tank··82 votes·3,297 views

Laners, generally speaking, are whiny bitches(not as whiny as junglers, duh. But you know, still) who would like you to gank them 4 times in first 5 minutes.

If they ping you not to do this, they sure as hell have good reason to.

I'm always confused when a jungler tries and ganks for me when I'm at really low health, and they even spam pings.

It's like...what do you expect me to do? Sacrifice myself to get an extra ability off?

Just rub your liver hole on them.

sometimes you can bait the other laner into a exchange in which would be in their favor normally and turn it into a kill or at the very least evening the lane so you won't lose as much for or gives you a chance to recall and reset the a lane yes even when you're low hp. Depending on the champions in lane and jungler its a mater of risk vs reward.

Sometimes sacrificing yourself is the right play although you may not become a the fed player some junglers or mids if they are roaming can gain a monstrous lead with a few kills. however it's usually true you can't trust anyone in Solo Q because everyone believes they have to carry a game.

?????????? Wtf

A similar thing happened in my last game.

I was playing Brand against a LeBlanc. I was doing pretty well, out csing her and zoning her away from my minions by W>E and spreading my flame to her.

Every time she wanted to trade I would E her then q her as she dashed to me, stunning her. I would then W and walk away, I wouldnt be unscathed but I would always force a passive burn and a back.

After buying a negatron cloak it was even easier to bully her, keeping the lane pushed and keeping her from roaming.

However one time I brought her low and she left, their half health Elise came from top to gank me. I saw her coming a mile away and E Q stunned her as soon as she cocooned me, then LeBlanc blinked over to try to help.

I threw my ult into their midst then flashed away.

I got a double kill. I went on to carry our struggling top lane and got a victory through attrition.

The moral of the story is never gank a Brand with his ult up while he has mana and you have low health, even if you have some CC.

I was playing Fiora top in one of my placement ranked games. Never played against a Renekton so I didn't know how to play. Played too aggressive, and got him fed. When the jungler came to gank when I was at a quarter of my health he went in and died.

RandomGuy (Udyr): OMG FIORA why didnt u go in omg u suck

Me (Fiora): I was at a quarter of my health why did YOU go in?

I had a bad game that round and they all flamed me. I'm sorry, but everyone has a bad game so shut up

Too be honest I'm getting a bit tired of seeing these "PSA: insert obvious decision making here" posts. Yes, we know that there are people that are not as good as others and sometimes make stupid decisions that make make absolutely 0 sense. This is why mmr, ranks, elo etc. was implemented in the game.

There is no reason why this however needs to be expressed in a boards post where people in all ranks of the rainbow see this. Why do I have to see on the same board section where people pose legitimate problems and queries about gameplay and then I see some bright light's post titled: "If the enemy team has a lot of magic damage, you should probably get magic resist". Honestly, are you &%$#ing kidding me, why is this even here (gesturing to the original post above) and not on General Discussion or Misc. where it is supposed to be.

This seems kinda abrasive, but it's gotten to the point where it's less humorous and more of a nuisance.

Oh sorry for a moment I thought you were referring to the entire Memes&Games board

Gibberwatt3 votes

Do not insult that board. They are the most positive group of people on this whole forum. http://m.memegen.com/9d83h5.jpg

MrWasjig1 votes

I didn't say they weren't, just that majority of the time most of the front page is M&Gs. Refer to the previous comment I quoted from Goon Platoon. M&G likely don't care about what I have to say about them, so why are you acting as their white knight? :P

Also I'm sorry if my opinion doesn't align with yours, but welcome to reality. Where people have differing opinions on stuff.

Gibberwatt1 votes

Because I am part of the M&G board, I am not a white knight, I am rather a representative. And see, I recognize that you have a differing opinion than I do. Differing opinions create arguments and discussions. That is what I'm trying to do. Make a discussion.

MrWasjig1 votes

Whaddya want a medal?

For someone trying to "make a discussion" it's funny you post this: http://m.memegen.com/9d83h5.jpg

Practice what you preach Mr. Representative

Peace.

I mean, as basic as this advice sounds, not every player who goes on the forums knows this stuff from the back of their heads, unfortunately.

And of course sometimes it's feels nice sometimes to have people to just listen to rants but in a "tips and tricks" form and agree with you.

And then the jungler ganks anyway, dies to the countergank and yells at you for not going in with them.

If I ping you back, and you go in anyway, you should not be upset when you die.

Athenes Lulu2 votes

As someone who shoves the lane and is kinda weak to followup ganks unless you're a tank jungler...

No need to gank the lane unless you WANT dragon/a tower; save your time and snowball other lanes. If anything, we will be the ones trying to force enemy jungler attention or punish them for never coming.

tru

The Deckowner1 votes

nah, when that fucker spam ping backoff on me when I tried to help push wave after a gank, that is the moment I know i aint ganking that lane anymore.

Linna Excel1 votes

When I'm jungling, most of the time laners will ping me off of minions when they are halfway across the map.

Sometimes, I get someone who tells me he's too low on mana or HP to get a gank, but that's rare.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

a gank isnt always for a kill. a gank can be to relieve press off of the laner. if i see my mid is getting pushed/zoned and have limited hp / mana i might just half-ass gank to make the enemy laner back off or if lucky they panic and blow a summoner spell. it might make them be a bit more passive in lane which would allow my team mate a chance to catch up on the gold or cs or a chance to back to heal. people too often think a gank has to be for a kill which isnt true.

another example lets say drag is up and its on your bot side where as jungler you can get your bot lane to help it is typically easier to secure with 3 then 2. so i would gank in order to make the enemy bot lane back to turret if not base, burn a summoner. now in this gank you arent diving hard, or trying to blow anything of yours you just wanna make pressure so the enemy has to back. in this moment of time it will allow your bot lane to rotate with you to take a drag. now if the gank go more in your favor and you can get a kill then great but make sure you are still able to have the hp/mana smite ect to secure the objective you wanted.

kills in game are ideally windows that allow you time to take objectives, dragon, rift herald , baron, turrets, inhibs. by getting a kill you get gold. experience which gets you ahead to allow you to be stronger to making taking objectives easier. but a successful gank isnt always one that results in a kill.

Partholonian1 votes

I consider any of the following a successful gank:

  1. We got more kills than we gave up (obviously)
  2. We forced the enemy off their turret long enough to destroy it (also obvious)
  3. Enemies used more summoners than we did (ults can count here too, but only if they are important long CD ults, not Leblanc or Anivia)
  4. Enemy was forced to back at a time that caused them to lose farm/pressure

Equivalent summoner trades may or may not be a success, depending on the situation.

However, I still agree with the OP's point: all of the above are far less likely to happen if the laner doesn't join you. And if they warn you that they're not going to, don't go in alone anyway and then blame them for doing the thing they told you they were going to do. That's as toxic as it is dumb.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

i dont disagree with your 4 points. i never said anything to the nature of being dumb/toxic or anything related to that. i simply was pointing out facts that there are more then a cookie cutter black and white "sucessful gank"

but lets get back to the OP's original point that if a laner is pinging back from a gank indicating that they arent in a position to fight. so if the laner isnt in a position to fight and they are sitting in lane with low resources , health, mana, summoners ect. and the enemy laner has a clear advantage and is kinda trying to use that at their advantage to all in/dive by the jungler being there and ganking it makes that enemy laner back off and maybe wont try to all in and by ganking you prevent your laner from dying by being proactive.

Spaceman5pff1 votes

I'll often gank an aggro laner as Gragas and hold my flash so that my flash being up still pressures them into backing off a bit.

If they don't back off, I kill them!

Jesus is Savior1 votes

Sometimes my laner frantically pings "danger" because they want to farm, and "don't want kills."

And then proceed to do absolutely nothing when I gank anyway, even though they had full health and there weren't a bunch of minions pushed up to them.

And then I get the enemy laner to 50hp myself and they get away.

[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Because not taking free kills and starving your jungler is apparently how you win games.
