How can nobody else see this - Riot's Shady Business Practices.

BEFORE YOU DOWN-VOTE... HEAR ME OUT... PLEASE!

Riot released Project: Ashe as a skin and then buff Ashe so she will sell well. Now she's getting a nerf (Finally) because the marketing promotion has ended and they are moving on to the next champion?

Does nobody else have a problem with this? How business and money is allowed to effect gameplay this this way? It is just so sleazy... they give Ashe a buff (a few weeks before) and then bring out a skin while Ashe is powerful to sell it and then nerf her back into the gutter when they are finished?

Do you mean to tell me that nobody else thinks this dishonourable, false advertising and sleazy business practices?

This is exactly the reason I barely play League anymore because Riot just simply do not care about game balance anymore, so their game is a mess of overpowered champions, snowballing and very little comebacks. I have been playing Heroes of the Storm because AT LEAST if you communicate with your team, you have a chance to focus on objectives, catch the other team off-guard and come back.

This game just feels like, it gets to 10 minutes and whoever has the highest number of kills/turrets wins the game because of the massive power spikes in the game (generally because of overtuned AD items).

Champions get buffs and nerfs all the time when they aren't getting skins, but the second it coincides with a skin it's a conspiracy.

Very well, if this was the odd occurance. I could accept that but its EVERY major champion that has been released and EVERY major legendary skin that has come out in the last year. Feel free to check if you want. Its not a conspiracy, it just IS dishonourable business practices.

When was the last time that a new champion was released UNDERPOWERED, I cannot even remember the last one. Kits are just getting more and more overloaded with each champion that is released and the numbers, on average are getting bigger and bigger, leading to power creep.

literally the champion before Kled. Taliyah had a 36% winrate the patch she was released.

But she still has a massively mobile and overloaded kit compared to most other mages of her class. Its true that she wasn't as strong and impactful as say Azir but still was pretty decent at release. Just people could not use her right because of the unusual elements of her kit and her emphasis on CC rather then straight forward damage.

"Riot's Shady Business Practices" Isn't shady its just normal business, they are doing what they must to make money. I don't hate or find them to be shady for doing the best thing to make money. Making skins for champs they make good or are popular is just the most efficent thing. If I were to sell lemonade, I would do it next to a busy street/park not on some road without people. You gotta remember they make this game free to play so we can't really judge what they do to make money.

DJ Sona

Yup, another classic example and yet people would rather live in ignorance. They buffed her just before the skin came out, kept her buff through her promotion and then nerfed her as soon as the promotion ended. Its like clockwork.

Dynikus4 votes

Uhh no, that's the exact opposite of what happened. My point was sona was incredibly weak when they released her legendary skin.

DiamondLeonis1 votes

She was not weak at all. She just has counterplay, unlike a lot of the champs that are released today with increasingly more mobility and power.

Sona's poke was exceptionally annoying and her ultimate was still very powerful so she was not weak at all.

I promise you she was weak when her legendary skin was released. Being you can't remember Taliyah being weak on her release though, I don't blame you for not remembering when dj sona was released. You can feel free to think it's a conspiracy for riot to make money though, makes no difference to me.

Taliyah was not that weak on release. People just weren't using her correctly. That's why she had a low win-rate. People were trying her top, support, and jungle ffs.

Her not breaking the game, unlike most releases, does not make her weak.

Dynikus3 votes

She was weak on release. She wasn't as weak as her winrate would suggest, but she was certainly weak. She got some fairly significant buffs shortly after release, and riot even admitted she had a weak start. Since then she's only recieved a few minor nerfs and is sitting at a pretty balanced place right now.

also what's wrong with taliyah top? jungler and support I never really understood, since her kit's only real utility as support during the laning phase would be W, and as a jungler her worked ground makes early clears pretty terrible. But toplane she does fine.

She even got a hotfix buff in fact.

People just weren't using her correctly.

That's functionally equivalent.

Yet, people still downvote it because they'd rather live in ignorance then acknowledge that this company is corrupt and this game is slowly spiralling downwards both in quality and design over the last two years.

Ignorance is Bliss... I guess. Who cares if this game goes under, they can just go latch on and suck the life out of the next game that comes along.

Guess people will live in ignorance and die in ignorance. But alright then... suit yourself.

The dieing in ignorance you speak of goes both ways...

And who really cares if they are its part of being a.business ... It sounds more like you have buyers remorse

Except Ashe hasn't been buffed in quite some time (I want to say not king fate the marksman update), and was already being considered for nerfs before the skin came out (in fact, if they had been able to get them all done, she would've been nerfed the same patch the skin released)

Have you heard of the phrases 'discarding disconfirming evidence' or 'cherry-picking'? Those two come to mind when I hear this.

Riot has some of the worse monetisation per capita. You want to look at 'greedy', Blizzard charge a subscription fee for WoW still and overwatch must be purchased.
