ADC midlane viable soon?

Riot has openly confirmed that they are in the progress of killing all of the assassins that once went midlane. Once the meta switches from an Assassin meta to a new fresh one, do you think mid lane ADCs will see better viability? I think they will, especially ones like Caitlyn, who have great solo laning kits. They also have to worry less about burst mages due to the death of DFG and have to worry less about poke mages, due to mana regen being shit at the moment.

Thoughts on the upcoming meta?

I think it's plausible, but I'd like to see a roaming tank mid meta.

Alistar

pls

AP Alistar is already a thing, and he is GOOD.

AP Malphite I feel just does that better. Alistar has too long of cooldowns to consider building ap. Maybe I just like Malphite too much. I can play him in every lane and jungle excluding top (cuz i suck at top). Also Malphite (although not as tanky as Alistar) can apply that attack speed debuff after engaging (amazing against AD comps, looking at u zed)

Malphite is also one of my favorites, and I agree he is a little stronger right now.

All ADCs can already bully the vast majority of mid laners. They just have a hard time not getting completely demolished 1v1 post-6, let alone handle jungle pressure.

And then there's expectations that comes from being a mid laner, like roaming and assisting the jungler.

There's one AD carry who specializes in fast roaming and excellent dueling, but mostly against auto-attackers or melees and not particularily against mages - Quinn .

And her late-game is below average in a lot of the aspects you actually bring an ADC for - the three t's tankbusting, towertaking, teamfighting - so it is not like she does not have her weaknesses.

Still, I could foresee an AD carry mid work in compositions with an alternative "marksman", aka a late-game mage profiting from a lot of gold and/or peel, like Cassiopeia or Azir .

I've done this actually. Mid Ez. Bot Azir and Leona (me). Was a lot of fun.

Between the soldiers' harass potential, and Leona's lock down if the enemy got in their range. It was a total stomp. I need to try this again. XD

Unlikely. A lot of AD carries begin losing the lane hard after level 6, and they usually can't bully hard enough early on to make up for that. The removal of DFG doesn't really impact that at all, given that very few champions rushed or even got it. They also have mediocre roaming and early fighting, both of which are liabilities in mid-lane. Not being able to help the team from the most central map position is not good.

They'll remain the same way they've been; situational midlane bullies. I wouldn't expect any significant change.

I play Sivir mid, and soon i will be trying Ashe mid. Right now i win ALOT of my games with sivir by pushing the hell out of the mid lane against champions who are terrible at farming under tower and ult away from ganks. When the mid laner is forced to gank, i take a tower and half of the other tower. If only Sivir had spam laugh like Zed . . .

Out of any Adc i think sivir mid is the best. She has great poke and benefits surprisingly well with blue buff out of any Adc. Even if Ahri is still good after the removal of DFG you can always block her charm.

I expect somewhat significant change. AD Trist and AD Ezreal will be very strong mid. They have already been strong picks for mid in the past, routinely getting picked for that position in the LCS. Since then, essentially all mid champions have gotten nerfed but DFG removal is very significant. Also, the Trist changes make AD Trist a stronger solo lane champion, in my opinion.

Mid lane Kalista is a beast, especially when coordinated with her jungler, and even moreso when facing champs that rely on skillshots to deal damage, or require to the ability to stick to you (which is literally everything except most assassins at this very moment).

I really want to try this now Sounds fun I just don't like it when my team bitches about trying new things

Corki and Ez have already been played mid competitively in both NA and Korea in season 4 and I think preseason 5, so AD mid would be nothing new.

Mid Lane ADC's is originally how it started. Ashe and every ADC went mid for the better farm and faster levels. It was a great time where actual Skill with an ADC was the prevailing factor rather than the power level of the chosen ADC. Bot was usually some kind of aggressive lane with Old Sion and Garen being a popular and really fun and terrifying lane. Not sure when but it gradually changed over to ADC's being bot with supports it was a slow change and then it was THE change and its been that way ever since.

ADC/Sup bot was the EU meta originally (Before Korea was the big kid on campus). The US meta originally revolved around ADC mid, APC top, tank & sup bot with one of them roaming. This wasn't the most efficient system.

It was adopted near-universally for 3 reasons.

  1. Most APC's benefit more from levels than ADC's. So giving them more experience was more efficient.
  2. Bot lane controls dragon. ADC/Sup is the strongest lane combo (in most scenarios), meaning they have best dragon control.
  3. Tanks/bruisers are the most likely to survive a gank, so APC's took the safer mid lane.

Ad Ezreal Mid is still very good, if something like xerath is banned you can still have an Ezreal mid if your goal is to make a poke comp. Although AP Ezreal is more fun Ad Ezreal has good dps, consistency, and escape. Maybe we will see more more CV's in the future xD

Tristana was viable in S4, Corki and Ez were viable a few weeks ago (I don't know about right now), so almost certainly. Just note that only the ADCs with mobility... they need it in the mid lane.

Drunk Rummate2 votes

ADCs have always been a strong midlane pick. Some of them, at least.

AccountaBilabudy2 votes

ADC have always been viable mid lane.

Ezreal Caitlyn Quinn Sivir Tristana are the most viable ones, or at least the safest.

Kuroi861 votes

Newp, ADC still have crap laning and will still get obliterated by any assassin post-6.

Erockandroll1 votes

Aside from the Crap Laning phase Post 6. Thornmail will make double ADC comps less than working. The only exception is if you snow ball Hard, yet that seems unlikely based on Previous responses.

Any Ad mid laner will have about 15-20% armor penetration plus last Whisperer. Stacking armor doesn't do a whole lot

Leaf of the lake1 votes

Soon, the tops go mid while the mids go top, and then they just keep flipping back and forth like that for a while until no one cares anymore.

blueberrypancake1 votes

Gragas will have that forever

junglerboy161 votes

They already kind of are. Mid Tristana was a big priority pick at worlds, and more caster type ADCs like Ezreal and Lucian have been picked mid for a while as well.

Duke Anax1 votes

Eh zed is and adc midlane abd highly viable. I gues what you meant to ask, will marksmen be viable?

Midlane generally gives the most xp, so it should usually be occupied by someone who either has good per level stats or per level abbility scaling.

Traditionally thats not the Marksmen.

Lafouboy1 votes

Oh shut up with that "Marksmen" shit. You know what I meant.
