This new HUD is terrible. Please give an option to revert your HUD to the previous one.

This HUD literally gives me a headache. I find myself searching around for information literally all the time. I liked being able to see relevant game information without having to press TAB; it made it much easier. Now I don't even know how well I am doing unless I take a timeout from the game for the amount of time it takes to find the info on the TAB screen.

I am sorry Riot, but this is a massive downgrade that decreases in-game clarity rather than improving it.

Either do something about it or give an option to use the old HUD please.

(on a side-note: Are there any mods I could use to maybe switch it back to the old HUD? This new HUD literally makes my eyes hurt, gives me a headache, and drastically fucks with my play.)

I didn't realize I had awful eyesight until I played a game with the new HUD.

This was change for the sake of change.

Yeah me either I'm going to go blind if I don't stop playing league now unless they at the very least make the text bigger and more legible.

UI Substitution

**1. No movement in the HUD. ** The lack of moveable elements in the new HUD makes it seem like a substitution than an update. We're not improving a ui, were swapping it with a different one. There is simply no reason why we shouldn't have a movable ui other than pure laziness on the development end. Customization of the HUD should be up to the player, as they will find what is comfortable, the same way you find what hand placement and f/d summoner spell placement. I shouldn't be limited by what riot thinks is acceptable. Unlike what some people claim, it is not an unfair advantage to be able to move the HUD and have it in a different location, otherwise you couldn't swap what side the minimap was on.

2. It takes up less space

So? Why is that necessarily a good thing? I can tell you that after playing it on pbe for the past 2 weeks, not once has that extra screen space let me dodge a skill shot. Having more space to look won't increase reaction time.

3. Decreased use of peripherals

This is the most concerning part of mushing everything together. No longer can I use the corner of my eye to see when an ally just got chunked in top lane, or them gaining a level. I didn't have to look there to see what was going on. Now, when in 1 place, I have to spend more time looking for the information I want, rather than a quick glance at most.

But oh don't worry, you'll get used to it.

Actually, no I won't. That's what they said about splitting up the buffs/debuffs into 2 locations, so I now have to check 2 locations for the same information. I still forget the affects are over on the left side.

_ But op that takes no time at all._

Just remember, the east coast complains about 40-50 difference in ping.

We have not been given an 'objectively better' UI. We have done nothing more but switch from Coke to Pepsi, and are told to just 'get used to it,' like we were told with cass and viegar reworks. Sounds more like Stockholm Syndrome than an improvement. So I will not be thrilled with this substitution. Does it implement new features? Yes. But it steps on toes to do so. Moving my UI shouldn't prevent these feature from existing, nor should showing allies ult timers.

It's an adjustment requirement. I recall info being in the old spots, so it's more difficult to get used to a sudden big change. Give it time. I'm sure it'll be fine after a while. You know. Like Ryze , only less broken as shit.

Except that most of the necessary information you want to see with a simple glance (that you have been able to see easily since Pre-Season 1) are now hidden unless you hit TAB.

There is nothing that is good about this change. It removes a lot of clarity. It is just a plain bad design choice.

The player portraits are smaller, and on the bottom rightof the screen, stacked. As well as with the enemies team's portraits. So you're telling me this is an upgrade? I have to scroll all the way to the bottom right, over the 1600x900 map, and then be lucky enough to even hit the right portrait.

You're scrolling? Was there some trick with the scroll wheel I missed?

Funny you used that as a reference, I'm still pissed about the Ryze rework along with the hud. I refuse to recognize that he's a champion anymore. In fact, there are a lot of parallels between the hud and Ryze. They both look like shit now, they have a god awful color scheme now, they were both changed unnecessarily, and I refuse to have anything to do with either of them. First, it was just my refusal to play that one champion. Now i refuse to play the game until the hud is fixed. Fuck whoever decided to change the hud and fuck whoever changed Ryze.

Jari1 votes

I was more referring to the kit change than the look change. Where everyone exploded about how bad Ryze will be in game now because he got the Veigar treatment. Two weeks passed, and the arguments changed. Some (not all) even swapped their sides, saying he was shit to a sudden, "It's too strong fix it" mentality. Being why I said, "only less broken." Was this new HUD perfect? No. Is it as bad as the community wants to scream it is? No. Give it time. That's all you have to do.

Let's not forget the same happened with the Ryze rework... and the Ryze rework... oh, and the Ryze rework. By now I believe it's a running gag between Riot and the community that Riot reworks Ryze into something extremely overpowered and the community declares it to be way underpowered.

I literally got a headache and started feeling a bit sick myself, trying to play with the completely upside down and frustrating new HUD thats tiring to deal with and try to read/look at, + the new music that became annoying quick

Same I got a headache as well. Why cant you move it or at least have an option of using the previous version.

Kirbanator8 votes

If i remember correctly, there was a legitimate reason as to why there is no way the old hud can exist with the new one at the same time. It said about how hard coding 2 huds at the same time would be a nightmare for riot and would just put off time on other important projects. I know how unhappy you guys are, but give it time, people need to get used to it.

Zenthon Prime14 votes

There is an element of "getting used to it" for many of the complaints, yes. But others, such as difficulty seeing parts of the UI and the horrible blue circles for cooldowns, need tweaking, and preferably before the two-week mark.

im gonna keep trying to adjust to this new HUD but I know its going to be a waste of time.....it gives me headache, im lost, disoriented....pretty soon im going to have to say good bye to my favorite game...so sad :(

I wish I had the option to go back to the previous one.

Why are ally healthbars so small?

Ace Access 10 votes

no, the correct question is "why is EVERYTHING SO SMALL?"

You know, except for my massive champion portrait. Because I had NO IDEA which champion I picked!

that part makes no sense, why would anyone even want such a large portrait of a champ when that space could be used for something more useful

Please don't ever implement the new hud to ranked, it looks really bad. Please just fix the ranked hud so we can move items.

dfloob224 votes

The massive cluster of information also sucks, so it's impossible to quickly find info by looking in one specific corner.

That, and the C menu is really really hard to read to check on personal stats.

The New HUD is fine IMO, you are just not used to it...

Ace Access 4 votes

no its not fine, its too small and swished into the same place

Jari2 votes

Ya there are things that need work, but it's currently just an adjustment moment right now. Change happens, get used to it. It'll get tweaked around in time...

Hopefully...

Maybe...

Riot pls.

Noctius283 votes

I'll say this for it I like the fact I have more game screen available I like the fact it looks cleaner I like the fact enemy death timers appear I understand I need to get used to it, having habits is a bitch, just like learning in Bloodborne triangle was for pots and not weapon unlike Dark Souls I do believe it is better in the long run I do not however like the fact I don't have game time, team score, baron and dragon timer in the top screen where it was more visible and important info of that caliber should not be hidden somwhere Nor a clear visual of my cooldown timers

JerrBear73 votes

Or just make it modular and allow more customization... I'd love that!

Lady Destruction3 votes

Agreed. RIot this is genuinely awful. Everything is too small and I don't like having to hit extra buttons to see what I always could while in the middle of playing. It's not just that I'm not used to it, it's more like there was nothing wrong with the old HUD. Might as well have just given us the beta HUD, it's better than this tiny fade in text.

I highly suggest giving an option to use the old HUD. You are going to lose alot of players to other MOBAs or other games in general if you're going to just up and change something like this after 4 years.

Thalanaar2 votes

Biggest complaint I have is the lack of champion stat menu for your own champion, and the lack of a ping button. Classic mode would be a HUGE help to those of us with a preference of actually gaining information from it.

Ada Wong2 votes

I don't exactly hate the new UI however.

1.) Riot should give us the option to revert to the old UI 2.) Riot should put the new UI in as a Toggle feature so players can switch to it freely

3.) The UI should be able to be customized aka things like

Team-Mates Spell Times, Ultimates etc.

Right now I still prefer the old over the new one.

Upvote to OP, I love this game and play it predominately, but after my 1st experience tonight, I'm gonna have to upgrade my PC to play Heroes of the Storm which is a shittier game but at least their HuD is better....fuck the guy that got paid to do this to all of us

The HUD looks okay, but the fact that everything is moved around is just so dumb. I want the old layout back, this new layout is so hard to look at, and the game is hard for me to play. It hurts my head, and it is so stupid that I have to press tab just to see vital information that I used to be able to see in just a quick glance. Please update the new HUD riot. I don't understand why you couldn't just update the old HUD, rather than give us an entirely new HUD that changes the way we experience the game so much. I don't want to get used to this HUD, and neither do tons of other players I've come across. Same with all of my friends. This is one of the bad development decisions that can cause League of Legends to lose popularity.

Please Riot.. give us a option to use the old HUD

I literally get eye pain, headaches, and can not see some of the info on it with out strain .. I play this game almost everyday and love it but I honestly will have to quit if I do not have the option for the old one back. I wear glasses and have a large monitor almost on top of me and it's still painful.. Please this is my first time I ever came on the boards to post but I feel like I have to. I love your game but sadly will not play anymore if I am forced to use this HUD.

It's not a matter of not liking it.. It is a matter of not being able to see and being in pain while trying to enjoy my favorite game.

I like some of the changes on the new HUD. But i just really, really hate the coloring on several small areas. ESPECIALLY the minimap. That minimap has never felt like it wanted to be ignored, now i can't just look at the map for a fraction of a second to a full second, tops, but now i got to look at it for a full second minimum to 2 seconds to perceive enemy locations and especially ally locations. It is too blue (very metallic blue or dark green-ish), and it is dull. I wish the enemies were Orange and bright to more easily stand out, and allies were Cyan. Right now as things are the minimap makes me confuse allied portraits with turrets symbols sometimes (this has never happened to me before, so i think it really is the HUD).

The bottom portion of the new HUD also sucks. Having abilities show a rain-drop like symbol is annoying. Everything looks TOO Blue, so i still end up ignoring it. If the ability turns a different color instead of Blue it would be better. Also, the cooldown timers are more tedious too since they barely stand out, everything, like i stated before, looks too blue.

However, i like the timers until how much time is left for enemies and allies have left for them to respawn. And i like the other timer that countdowns to when their ults are back up.

BUT, i do hate how i cannot find the health bars on allies. Makes using teleport more annoying, because of the poor coloring and on top of that the lack of allies' hp bars has me not teleporting into a fight on time as much as i would like.

And i do like how the new menu that pops up when you hit tab. I'm really liking that. But still needs a few minor tweaks. Overall, i still like the new tab menu.

It makes me wonder who was part of PBE or what was going on within Riot, since clearly one of two things happened. People did not take the new HUD serious and did not provide good feedback or info, or Riot ignored the info provided by those who were part of PBE.

There are some very basic art things, design, and psychological things that were clearly not done. The hyper-minimalist approach has done more harm than good. It is too Blue, that nothing stands out. The old HUD had colors that complimented each other, some were literally on the opposite side of the color wheel which is great, others were dull next to bright colors that made things stand out better even when they were literally the same color or similar.

The new minimap is perfect to have it blend into the background or get ignored by your eye's blind spot. Additionally, there are too few colors that stand out, most are similar and dull. Furthermore, there are bits of info missing like allied levels or their HP bars on their character portraits or next to them.

This new HUD looks pretty cool, but it isn't cutting it. Most of the options are hidden now and it is near impossible to play the game whilst looking for crucial options like the way marker or the game time itself. Is there a way in which the old HUD can be accessed again?

Shloonz1 votes

I think the HUD is great and looks very clean. The only think i miss would be larger mute buttons like in the old HUD where i can easily click them. Sadly that's a button i have to use often in unranked.
