Hey Riot. Make a "NEVER PUT THIS PERSON ON MY TEAM AGAIN" button.

Lafouboy··104 votes·4,117 views

Reporting them doesn't do that. I know, because I have played matches where I get the guy that was crying and BMing all game on my team in the next game. I wish there was a button that made it 99% unlikely you would ever play with a person again.

Also, seriously, do something about "negative attitude" reports. Obviously there is no action done against these people, because I get at least 2 people per game with TERRIBLE attitudes on my team at least 60% of my games. I stay silent the entire time, so it ain't me causing it; they just randomly go off like a motherfucker on someone on the team for whatever reason (usually "OMG! GANK FOR ME! Y U DO SO BAD! FUCK YOU!"). I dunno, I think people with proven negative attitudes should get a one month ban and a big sticker on their dashboard if they try to sign in that says "Stop being such a stinker" and a chatlog of the games they got reported in so they can see all of what they said to get them that 1 month ban.

Seriously. The only way to cure this cancerous problem is to act harshly and in a manner that gets people to understand that LoL isn't their therapy grounds where they can go off on everyone to alleviate stress (or just to be mean-spirited and spread that negativity around).

If they do, high elo is gonna have some issues though.

Lafouboy3 votes

That is why I said "99% unlikely"; that 1% is for the high elo players that will have to play together.

A simple allotment per division solves this. Your personal DO NOT GROUP list could include 50 bronze, 25 silver, 15 gold, 5 platinum/diamond/masters, and 0 challenger player slots.

Rew7112 votes

I'm very confused but intrigued by the thought. I give you, your +4 because as a Bronze player, I'd rather have only Bronze players to play against. It's difficult playing with a pure Bronze team vs a 1 Bronze player with all Silver. This may help with many future matches.

i n u s e5 votes

What I meant by allotments per division is, let's say you play against a real toxic jerk in your next match. You never want to play with him on your team again, you put him on your DO NOT GROUP list and Riot will never match you with him again. You can repeat this with 49 more people that also share the bronze rank. In a month, you've worked yourself up to silver 5. You can now choose up to 25 people from this division that you never want to play with again, as you see fit. As you progress up the ranks, the player pool will be shrinking along with your allotted bans. If you could ban 50 masters, for example, you would be able to manipulate the odds of winning so the allotments are much smaller.

Hope that clarifies what I was trying to say.

Rew7111 votes

ok, new question, can you or are you able to control if and who you want to never play with even after you said you don't want to play with them? i understand the limit, but what if i made a mistake and want to undo or change it?

i n u s e1 votes

It would be ideal to be able to manage your bans. You may be in a division for a long time and the people you banned may move up or down and no longer be relevant to you.

Well, how about a certain amount per account then? Kinda like refund. You get to choose, say, 3 accounts that you "ban" from your play list and avoid playing with them forever. This lets you avoid extreme toxicity that you would never want to see again while preventing people from abusing the feature every time they find someone they "don't like".

SymbolicFear1 votes

That won't work. There are millions of players, 20% of which are toxic. I can say I am one of them at times. (I take meds... side effects affect attitude) Everyone will have to deal with it constantly. Having to pick 3 people you could absolutely do without is difficult, cause you never know if you will play with them again. Maybe a better solution would be to have "TEMP BANS" from your lobbies. If you could keep a select person from your games for 3 days, that would be enough. Who knows, that person might just be having a really shitty day. Or they might get banned for negative attitude in that time. It would be fine that way.

T RexHasLongLegs2 votes

Why? I think if the game would not place you in a lobby with anyone you blocked it would be pretty simple to code, and you can unblock people if it limits the number of people you can play with so severely that it takes longer than you want to find a game.

Riot could even make a notification that shows up after the second or third game you could not be placed in due to the game including someone on your block list. Then if you're high elo and the blocks you have are causing problems for finding a game for you it is as simple as removing players from your blocked player list so you can get in a game. Also it naturally builds in a punishment for overusing the system since you can have a hundred blocked bronze players and still find games I'm sure but when you are blocking every player in bronze suddenly you have master level que times for a bronze game and have to rethink why you are blocking so many people.

Simple solution and high elo would be fine since they wouldn't use it much bc they would rather have matches for the most part and would only block a couple people maybe.

Tomatosx2 votes

2 Days ago after the match I was matched with someone I had blocked 2 years ago for sending me death threats. It doesnt work all the time

T RexHasLongLegs1 votes

You read this wrong. I'm stating that IF the game used this solution then there should be no problem at high elo w/ people being able to remove themselves from being paired with particular other players.

Currently it doesn't ever keep you from playing with someone you blocked, it is just very unlikely given the number of players at low elo. Happens more frequently at like master tier and such. I think the comment I was replying to was saying that a "do not match me in a game w/ X person" option would make it hard to get matches for high elo players since too many would have other players on their restricted play list. Setting it based on players you have blocked and giving a notification after X number of games you're passed over for due to a player on your block list being picked for that game too would give high elo players the option to unblock people if they were waiting to long and wanted a shorter que time.

Again, just to be clear, the system does not currently exist. So yeah, it doesn't work all the time, because currently it doesn't work ANY of the time :D

Agree with this. Would rather just have the tribunal back so they get chat restricted or banned.

anyone who gets reported should be instant perma-banned along with anyone they were team-queued with

QueenAqua8 votes

Would you want to be reported and perma-banned by some jackass who reports you for verbal abuse or negative attitude when you were just giving them advice on how to play a certain champion? The system you are proposing would be unfair to MANY people who have done nothing wrong and unfair to the person who was just having a bad day and let it out on their teammates, but are normally VERY friendly and considerate people. That system would hurt the honest and non-salty community more than the ones that are just plain BM, toxic, and trolls.

Along with their team queue? That isn't a good idea. I play with my cousin occasionally and he is actually pretty bad and he flames others for it, and he gets reported. I would hate to get banned because of a friend

I'm doing the math... Assuming this was your team that this happened to:

It takes 10 seconds for the shield to drop. It takes 10-15 to get to get to the mid point of your lane. At level 1, it will probably take someone 10-20 seconds to die (let's just say 10). Best case that is 30 seconds consumed for one death. Assuming, you weren't participating in this travesty, that's 4 deaths.

So you are now 0-4 @ 30 seconds.

Let's say the enemy team moves into your jungle and stands by one of the blue/red gates while your team respawns (10 seconds at level 1, should be enough time to get at least a few enemies there).

0-4 @ 40 seconds

Your team is now up, they rush head long into the enemy to intentionally feed and have coordinated with the enemy to accomplish this. Maybe someone has a Level 1-2 AoE (like Lux) that helps kill you faster. Let's say it takes 8 seconds for everyone to die this time.

0-8 @ 48 seconds

There is now a 10 second respawn timer.

0-8 @ 58 seconds

Not good enough!

Let's say all 4 ran to the enemy's tower in mid. Let's also assume the enemy jungler sees this, and moves to support the mid lane. I think that all four could be killed with ease under tower in about 5 seconds. Let's say it took 12 seconds to reach it. Ten second respawn timer.

0-4 @ 37 seconds.

Assuming enemy moves to gate as above...

0-8 @ 55 seconds.

Now we are talking! Someone should be able to reach the enemy quickly enough to die before the 60 second mark, giving you 0-9 @ 60. Possibly 2, giving you 0-10 @ 60.

If this were Myth Busters, I could call this "plausible".

Funny thing is though, blocking one said person from your matches for ever, would NEVER guarantee this not to happen...

Everyone has bad games, might just have a bad mindset going into a game, or simply the other players are way too good/crafty.

So, this has no real impact on your matches, other than the ability to block a person you dont like...

And longer queue times... For no real benefit, whatsoever...

1 game can show enough of how a person acts to want to block them.

qetzel4 votes

Some people would report every person who they thought was bad just so they get better teams. This really would not work. Competitive integrity and all that.

Randomonium2 votes

It easily could work, just make it so you could only do it for one person per game (either teammate or enemy.) That gives players the option of avoiding the most toxic player in the game and prevents people from abusing it. Another way you can prevent abuse is make it so that you can only have a maximum of 10 players on your "do not play with list." If you add another it bumps the first person off the list and you could get matched up with them again. That will encourage people to be selective with who they block.

T RexHasLongLegs1 votes

Or just make do not play a priority that won't put them in your game on either team, remove the competitive advantage it could make. Yeah it might make you wait longer in que, but that would be the price you pay to rule out people in your game.

League of Ori3 votes

I'm generally not the type to block or mute people, but I have met some incredibly abrasive people in my games, and lots of intentional feeders and people that just didn't care about winning in ranked. I really want the OP's idea to be a thing.

Ahurath2 votes

You can just mute them, work on improving your own gameplay and rise naturually.

Lafouboy1 votes

You can mute them, but this is a team game. Muting an individual will mean that you have 1 less teammate to work with on securing objectives, organizing teamfights, etc. Muting them would be the opposite of what I would want; you need to work together if you want to win, thus the reason I tend to stay silent instead of speaking while matched with toxic teammates, so that I can still try and work with them as a person that is not arguing with them.

Ahurath1 votes

Muting someone is a last resort but I mean some of them don't really bring anything to the table anyways. You can go along way with just using pings.

You don't really need to use chat that much anyways iin order to win. Chatting and talking to your team is overated imo.

Crede7771 votes

This isn't about me. This is about them. They deserve something bad to happen to them for acting poorly. As it stands, the current ban and restriction system takes too long to administer justice, so players take punishment into their own hands. Hence, flaming.

Tmoose2 votes

I think they should only get a chat restriction for a few weeks after some reports come in

Lafouboy1 votes

Sounds like a good idea. Give chat restriction for a few games as a warning before resorting to banning.

Konidias2 votes

I'd be happy with a "don't group me with duo queue players" filter. I dodge every duo queue game I can now. I've learned my lesson too many times in the past.

Recently dodged being put with a duo consisting of 2 guys who were trying their best to troll the team in champ select already and one dude even had "420" in his name, so that was 2 red flags and an immediate dodging from me.

edit: also had to absolutely dodge a game where one guy had a a weed related name, then says in champ select, "hold on let me take a bong hit" or something and then another teammate says "oh cool dude, all I have is just this small pipe right now" and then they get into a conversation about weed and I'm just like "... cya". This was in ranked.

I couldn't dodge fast enough.

yukonl2 votes

How about this?

If the person has received a previous or current chat restriction/ temporary ban / punishment from Leaver Buster in the last (insert adjustable time), then you can block them for a certain amount of time.

AbstracT Theory2 votes

Good idea, the thing is though not everybody is toxic for absolutely no reason. If you feed 100% on purpose or if you are trolling or anything of the sort i will either get offended of cuss because you are wasting 20-60 mins of my time because you are intentionaly feeding. Not everybody is auto toxic, lots of people need to be provoked.

mi ramfan1 votes

Let's be honest, nobody actually pays attention to the names of the players in their games. Even if you have to report someone for toxic behavior, odds are you wouldn't remember them if they showed up in one of your games a week later.

We're not 1st graders keeping a "hate list" of all the people who said mean words to us, and this feature would encourage that mentality.

MVDuneCats1 votes

To the contrary, social backlash to boorish behavior isn't, nor should be, limited to 6 year olds.

There's precious little to identify fellow players other than their name, and names tend to be easy to forget. You wind up with a level of anonymity on the Internet that you don't get "in real life". If you go to a party and see someone behaving poorly, you don't have to write their name down on a list. You don't even have to know their name. You will probably register a negative impression of them which will come back up when you see them the next time. Behave badly enough around enough people, and that person is less and less likely to be invited to parties in the future.

If someone who is consistently toxic in-game was less likely to get queued with people who report him, it would make it more and more difficult for that player to find a game as time goes on. The more that other players choose to shun him, the smaller the pool of players he has to play with.

mi ramfan1 votes

Social backlash for being a dick is all well and good, but a text chat medium is not sufficient to understand how people behave. Just because somebody swore at you midway through a rough day at work doesn't mean they'd still do so if they ran into you at the movie theater. Similarly, there are many players who are completely different people in-game depending on their mood that day.

I'm still not in favor of blacklisting players. Putting somebody in low priority queue without telling them doesn't allow the people you're complaining about to reform, it just slows down their gameplay with no prospect of gain for anyone. At least Tribunal, leaverbuster, and the chat banning system provide a mechanism for players to reform themselves.

Considering the fact that you won't remember the names of the players you placed on your ban list a month from now, what effect does your proposal have that isn't already covered by the Tribunal, Leaverbuster, or chat restrictions?

  1. so i think the toxic people are most of the time provoked by ether felling down about their lane or by some one else's failer in lane. i think both problems are easily fixed some ones losing lane and starts bashing team for not helping try to say something like hay man wait for me to get somemore items freeze your lane and play safe for like 5 minuets and i'll help u come back up vs STOP FEEDING. kinda keeps them calm and shows u are aware of there laneing problems. other who are mad about your failers tell them im having a bad game mind givin some help to fix it i'll try to freeze my lane and wit for the jung to save me. Anivia just need some freeze in our life

On a side note. If you get a jerk in game /mute all is the greatest command ever created. You wont see anything anyone is saying. Use it. And after than game, wait a bit to ensure that you don't get that person on your team again. Ill assume you are around Silver (Hypothetical) there are millions of silver players. The odds of getting a toxic player (In a game voted most toxic game ever) are high. But even just playing a game with someone lowers the chances you will ever play another game with them. unless by very low chance you both hit play again at the exact same time, are around the same ELO AND are in the same division. Then there may be a chance you get Partnered with this toxic person but it does not matter (Mute).

Crede7771 votes

I don't flame much and am not toxic, but I know I would be even less likely to do so if there was an option at the end of the game to hit a report button and then not have a risk of getting queued up with that person again.

It would also improve the odds of people on the other team reporting a player because they don't want to risk getting matched with him in the near future.

ChoGathsSon1 votes

I get the frustration but the pros don't outweigh the cons. If someone is just being a sour puss, that's probably not really banworthy. If someone is intentionally feeding, going way off the deep end with racial/homophobic slurs, etc. just report them. The system will take care of them.

A bit of advice is to wait a few minutes before queuing again. Not just to avoid the player, but a sour experience like that throws off your mentality as it is. Take a few minutes, collect your thoughts, wait for the queue to queue you up with new folks and get in there. Sadly, the higher in elo you get, this becomes less of a reality. Trade offs and what not.

Also, it's worth mentioning that you shouldn't waste time focusing on them. It's solo queue, people are trying to win and not everybody is mother Theresa. People can be jerks and while they may ruin your solo queue experience from time to time, reporting them and waiting will solve your problems. If they're not doing anything ban worthy, sorry, but get some thicker skin. You need to focus on your gameplay and attitude and not worry about others. Solo queue is a grind of improving and climbing, winning and losing is a byproduct. But if you're improving, focusing on your own gameplay, you will win more than lose and climb. Good luck.
