Seriously, leave Veigar alone

I leave for a week and see that my longtime main's public opinion has gone from perma-"HE IS SO UNDERPOWERED! BUFF HIM" on the boards to "OMG! HE IS SO OVERPOWERED! HE NEEDS TO BE FIXED!".

Riot literally only reduced the delay on his W by .25 seconds and allowed him to more reliably get AP (giving him about 25 - 60 more in the late game, depending on how well you are doing). He has not changed that massively. Just cuz you got dumped on by a Veigar because you couldn't take advantage of his GLARING weaknesses doesn't make him OP. Those changes were honestly good for him and puts him in a perfect place of power; where he can still fail hard if he gets shut down early game/zoned from his Q farm but do extremely well in the mid to late game if his team is competent enough to peel for the escapeless squishy bastard. He is everything a burst mage should be; he has reasonable trade-offs (his abysmally terrible early game) and specializes in late game damage dealing (along with some battlefield control with his E). He's not an unstoppable champion, he is practically an AP Nasus that dies MUCH easier (literally, if he doesn't have Zhonya's then the enemy team's assassins will make him regret walking outside that day); his largest counter is an item that is good on every champion too (Banshee's Veil).

Seriously, leave Veigar alone. It's not that he's OP, it's that the guy on the other team was better than you.

Tips to counter veigar: 1 - Pick zed, talon or fizz. You have now successfully countered veigar.

If you somehow failed at step one and picked an ap champion into him that is not fizz, proceed to step 2.

2 - Buy zhonyas and use it whenever his ult is mid air, you take no damage and all of his all in potential is now on cd.

If you somehow failed at step two buy a banshees veil and try not to feed him too hard.

Try playing Kassadin into Veigar. There's not a damn thing he can do to stop you.

LeeDark8 votes

Unfortunately, you also have trouble killing him, and the rest of his team has no problem with you. If you kill anyone, it's because they were laughing too hard at the fact that you picked Kassadin.

Battlecast Sona1 votes

Kassadin is still really strong... Just not as strong as he was pre-riftwalk nerf. Kassadin should have absolutely no problem dumpstering Veigar though, especially post 6... His damage is still good.

Actually xPeke2 votes

Kassadin is absolute shit. You either build him AP and do no damage because your ratios and CDS suck, or you build tank and still do no damage.

he needs another rework. a big one

Battlecast Sona1 votes

lol... What are you talking about? I don't think I've lost lane with Kass once since his rework, and maybe the game ends poorly, but generally I can contribute. He's just no longer Diana, he's Ekko now - you weave in and out of fights.

The problem people have is they don't realize that now if you make Athene's with CDR runes/masteries and hit 40% cdr his riftwalk has a 2 second CD at max rank and the Athene's passive refills enough mana to blink with max stacks of riftwalk, meaning you can continue to chase. Just because he doesn't work like before doesn't mean he's garbage.

Actually xPeke2 votes

His cooldowns are way to long though and his shield is nothing

And, i don't think he's horrible. but he's definetly not OP or good at the moment. You have to sacrafice the entire early and mid game for a decent late game. I know better chasers

OyddAWqJ5r3 votes

What are you talking about? He has high ratios and low cds. He has an amazing lategame but you have to survive the early first, which, when he faces someone he counters, is extremely due to his passive and Q mitigating any and all harass while simultaneously upkeeping his mana with W and landing Q shots.

Actually xPeke2 votes

His Q has a static cooldown of 9 seconds, Nether Blade too. and Force Pulse has 6 seconds and a stack system. That's a lot of Cooldowns compared to other mages

"do no dmg" i died right there

Veigar isn't remotely OP unless you feed him...but you can say the exact same for nearly every champion in the game. Veigar is fine, his weaknesses are super easy to comprehend and, IMO, once you know his general rotation alongside learning to not overextend against him will lead to a not-lost-and-potentially-won lane.

When I'm jungling or spectating, I notice the number one cause of people dying to Veigar's Stun+Kit is because of stupidity/lack of information; either he played against their unknowing (as all good players do) or they literally ran into his stun.

Then there's the classical "I wanted to harass and got so close to him with AAs as a mage that I couldn't dodge his cage" deal. Veigar might be one of the most telegraphic mages in the game and he's ridiculously easy to predict.

1000angrybees7 votes

wait, people are complaining about him??? I mean he can be a little shit, but he's alright right now.

SirPacifista4 votes

Jeah, because certain people are incapable of buying MR and not running in the stun, so every bad player is complaining he is op now, because they are to stupid to play against him.

If you get oneshot by Veigar, then it's your fault for either not being able to dodge the long windup on his stun, or managing to somehow not abuse his terrible lanimg phase.

People complain about all burst champions because they don't know or aren't willing to figure out how to deal with them

Penns4 votes

You can deal with, lets say Annies burst, but Veigars burst is hard. Like, he has 200 more base dmg, scales better and has 80% enemy AP scaling too + his E is way better than Annies E. He has skillshots but Ill take that.

boatir106 votes

His E doesn't deal damage

Pikmints9 votes

He never said that it did. Annie's E is used probably 80% of the time to charge her passive, compared to Veigar's stun which is used for it's inherent purpose and less situationally so, Veigar's E is better than Annie's.

You act as if the 0.25s reduction is a small buff, if that was the case he wouldn't have suddently rose up to 53.5% win rate.

CrazedPorcupine5 votes

I'd say that it was more his ability to get 5 AP on an assist without needing to get a kill that buffed him more than his w change. The w change only made landing his w on a rank 1 stunned target easier/more reliable.

PaperMache72 votes

5 AP for assist does have an effect, but it's minimal compared to the gains he has by making his W easier to land.

Kowagatte5 votes

The 0.25s was necessary I remember playing veigar and watching all my mid lane opponents build mercury treads. I would never be able to hit an e+w unless I had a stun 100% confirmed and threw my w out immediately.

Lux currently holds the highest winrate. By this logic you're saying she shouldn't have been buffed?Heimer has a higher win rate and has much more utility and zone capabilities, should he be nerfed?

PaperMache73 votes

No she really shouldn't have she was already in a good spot and now she's overtuned, she'll get nerf at some point. Heimer win rate is due to a dedicated playerbase.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

It's technically not a reduction, it's the same thing they did with his E, they didn't reduce how long it takes for it to fall, they just made it so it starts right when you cast W and not after the .25s cast time.

It's a lot like how Ekko's w works for what it means to his gameplay, the buff isn't the duration, which is the same, but that there's .25s less time for the enemy to react to it.

If there's any reason for the winrate increase, it's the AP gain on assists, that's the BIG buff he gained.

Devack The Holy1 votes

To be fair, that's a reduction. Especially compared to it pre-buff.

Yea so I should stay in the backline as a tank/bruiser?

Unless you're AP Malphite, you'll live. It's no different to any other hard CC and has its own unreliability built into it.

Sorry that your precious Assassins have at least one damn Mage to worry about.

Veigar is super fun I just hate how people hate that his q is a skill shot its better as a skill shot.

Jari3 votes

My Veigar finally is getting to a good spot and people hate it. Like guys, he's not broken. It's just so that he doesn't need to be a kill hog and he is more likely to hit his W. You know, the thing we all said we can never land anymore because his stun just takes too long?

Bronzoid3 votes

The problem with Veigar is that he can 1-shot your frontlines late game while zoning the rest of your team. He's practically a 1v5 champ late.

uless your frontline is composed of idiots and building full AP. there is no way Veigar is 1 shoting them.

Devack The Holy2 votes

Or unless they were idiots, and let Veigar farm 2000+ AP with a Void Staff.

Veigar : ults Where did that Nautilus go?

XeresBreak3 votes

I love the nerf on veigars e hated when everyone said "omg hes dead now too difficult" Bitch that champ can one shot ap anything with just the ult especially one that decide that not getting a zhonyas is smart sdfu l:< he doesn't need a nerf hes fine the way he is atm.

ThevgkLucy2 votes

I wasnt even aware that people are complaning over this hmm... cant even remember last time i fought against a veigar to be honest.

LadyRenly2 votes

I like his Q change, honestly. It makes him feel a bit less like Nasus, and encourages you to be a team player a bit because even if you don't steal the kill with an ult, you still get stacks.

Mokaccino2 votes

item 3070 Veigar OP, please nerf. Veigar Is this a short joke?!

sir vile2 votes

i mained veigar before and after the buff and he really isn't that different except he gets stacks easier. Is that really all it took to get people to call him op?

Lafouboy1 votes

That's the original thought I had when I made this thread.

Bastard Chief2 votes

Ekko They should leave my boy Ekko alone too. People still cry OP about him ALTHOUGH you can pretty much avoid his entire kit if he's in lane and not jungling where he has the best chance to hit you with his skills.

Seriously? His Q does shit damage on the first initial hit. Does more damage coming back, but you should ALWAYS avoid both, especially the damn second one. That's his poke, and skill that can set up his passive to proc on his blink E. Even his E can be avoided if he's mid, top lane will have to take the hits as that's melee but seeing that Ekko is so squishy and can be 1 shotted usually, not a problem.

His ult can ALWAYS be avoided LOL. There is literally almost no excuses to getting hit by an Ekko ult unless he stuns you with W but other than that, I don't know. '

So yeah, please don't ever nerf my favorite champion again, and give him a small damage increase on his Q, or at least make his Q do more damage on the first hit, less damage coming back.

He's balanced imo, but I still want to see his kit get a rework.
