How do you counter an Olaf engage?

He doesn't do as much damage as an adc, but still does enough to blow up our adc in a couple seconds. Can't cc him and he's too tanky to kill right away.

A few ways:

Run
Pick champs who don't rely on CC to be useful
can throw physical objects to block out Olaf

Not the best advice, but I tried.

you kill him. nobody can tank damage in this game. 5k hp mundo last game. 260 mr. 220 armor. and died. give or take 4 seconds. enemy team had 3 damage dealers. lol

if hes fed and ur behind. well that happens with any champino u usually dont have the damage to kill them. but we have to assume all of this is on an even ground. so just kill him. he isn't as tanky as mundo or trundle and even those can't survive focus that long. by that long again its like 3 seconds really.

Champs with %dmg reduction in their kits can still tank, but that's about it. Tank items sure dont do much by themselves.

As someone who's been playing olaf a little bit. I would say, if he's ulting, he probably is pairing that with ghost. Combined his cc immunity with a long term speed boost and the slow on his q, makes kiting very difficult. (Except maybe for Kalista)

His tankyness make him better at a duel than an ADC, And since you can't just peel him, I would probably recommend the team focus him down, or at the very least force him into retreat. Even with Tanky characters, they will still melt if focused by the team.

Only thing I've found to work is the team focusing the fuck out of him once he ults. He loses his bonus resistances once he ults so he'll be easiest to kill then.

Kite backwards as a team. That way, you can create distance from Olaf's team while you focus him down.

Darius an olaf running into your team can set this guy up for a very easy noxian might. Even if the adc goes down your gunna have a 4v4 on your hands with a noxian might darius on your side. Works for me more times than not, I rarely lose games with enemy olafs, be it top or jungle.

Terrain creation, bard ult your own team, kite back with movespeed boosts like karma/jayce/sivir/talisman, burst him down since he becomes squishier when he ults and puts himself into your whole teams range, attack move him down as someone like kalista who can kill him before he is able to get to them, rotate around the map with realm warp/tahm ults, tahm eats the carry until olaf ult is gone, counter initiate on the enemy backline and blow them up while their tank is away and can't peel for them and hope to do more damage than olaf does, drain tank off of him with someone like fiddle who can just use olaf as a free hp refill, etc.

You have a lot of options, but they are all much easier in theory than practice and if olaf is fed enough compared to your team it becomes really hard unless you have one of the super hard counter options like physical walls or realm warp.
