Give Talon his Channel Interrupt back on Cut-Ankles

OyddAWqJ5r··63 votes·2,310 views

Because it's rather silly when Katarina is ulting or MasterYi is meditating and I just kinda I teleport behind them and nothing happens when the ability name is "Cutthroat"... yeah... Cutthroat... right.

Disclaimer: He's in a pretty balanced state atm and I wouldn't want him being pushed over the edge. And if this change would do that then by all means don't.

It wouldn't bring him over the top. It's not cutthroat, it's "boo" cause all it does is scares you a little, nothing more.

Well then, it should definitely scare Yi out of his meditate.

Definatly doesn't increase his damage by 15% kappa

cutthroat should silence if used on a target thats facing away.

I'd call it Achilles Strike

More like blood test. Harmless.

Actually, while I consider Talon as a more healthy definition of an assassin than most meta picks that have tons of mobility and lack of resources/cooldowns meaning anything, Talon is still pretty op or rather extremely effective at what he does. That's why I abuse it bot lane with a Leona.

all for renaming it to "boo" say yay

I dont know why kassadin and talon had their silences removes, theyre single target silences that have some (not much but some) travel time.

meanwhile chogath is allowed to have a 4 second instant silence that can do considerable damage.

Voluug133 votes

Because Talon/Kass/LB were either: too safe or point and click.

Cho cant silence you if he isnt near you. He is a slow moving immobile mass dependant on when the enemy buys T2 boots.

B1naryB0t4 votes

It's because they, especially talon, are the burstiest in the game. It's just a matter of "You silence me for 1 second, you kill me in less than a second"

Besides, talon is instant.

BuzzinTate1 votes

He's instant late late game killing people from full health, but he's meant to be an assassin picking off people low of health in lanes, so he can build himself up to being rengar one shot material

(i personally dont believe someone should be able to kill someone else in less than .5 seconds)

OyddAWqJ5r4 votes

The combo is essentially a one-shot. I reluctantly had to agree with the silence removal then.

Any Talon main and most non-mains know that all his combos can be executed in less than a second. E-AA-Q-R-Tmat-W, E-W-R-Tmat-Q, etc.

BuzzinTate1 votes

but every assassin has the ability to one shot someone, leblanc, zed, mundo

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

The point was that Talon silences them while he does it. LeBlanc, Zed... Mundo? They all don't silence before they 1 shot people.

...Mundo? What.

Catastrop4 votes

Mundo kills how he pleases.

OyddAWqJ5r2 votes

I still don't understand the Mundo one-shots, but okay Mundo, you do as you please lmao.

BuzzinTate1 votes

It was sort of a joke, how mundo is basically at his worst right now in the meta (him being tanky with little to no damage, his ult pretty much resonates his kit and the speed buff needs ghost or you'll never get away)

pripustas1 votes

Talon also can't get out once he goes in. Others can. BRING BACK SILENCE OR BUFF E TO KATA LEVELS

OyddAWqJ5r2 votes

I really think Talon needs some sort of remedy for his suicidal all-in lol.

When I go for the kill as Talon, my thought process is "Okay, I can destroy my target and cause collateral damage, that should be enough to be worth my death."

Lmao, I don't even consider escape a possiblity. Just cause as much mayhem as you can in your lifespan.

Balisan1 votes

If that's how you see Talon, you probably aren't always using his ult like you should be. Or his W. Or his E, even. Any one of those can be used for escaping or chasing.

W-E-Q-item 3074-R <-- Leaves time to run away in stealth. E-Q-item 3074-R-W <-- Put some distance between yourself and danger between the R and the W.

item 3142-R-summoner 4-E-Q-item 3074-W-aa <-- Actual "suicidal all-in."

Hey. It's Aygo from Korea.

This is a relevant point to bring up. In LoL KR, the "Cutthroat" ability is named "목긋기" in Korean; ironically, many users in KR wishes the name changes to "발목긋기", which the addition of just one letter made Cutthroat Cut-ankle.

By the way, the number One just reminded me of how Talon's silence was just One. Second.

And you took it away, Rito. You should at least give him some channeling interruption (Kassadin)

Countermander4 votes

I reply in advance. The One. Second. was never enough to kill your enemy.

What enabled the one second kills was the CRITS. Crits on Q and AutoAttacks was the main criminal for high bursts,

much like how a high-AP stacked Fizz or Syndra, LeBlanc can kill an ADC in less than a second.

Just doesn't make sense when LeBlanc can kill for under a second. Why didn't Rito ban AP? HUH???

And your team was supposed to help you during that one second silenced by Talon. LoL is a team game, Rito.

If you were caught by Talon's Cutthroat, it meant the Talon timed it really well / caught you off-guard (which means u deserved it) / your team was distracted by something else (which means Talon deserved the moment).

He was balanced before with the silence. Now he's a minion in laning phase.

General Esdeath 3 votes

Talon, an assassin isn't allowed to have a silence because it's too OP apparently.

Chogath "It's a good thing Riot forgot my aoe silence that's bugged and hits you even if you flash out of the hitbox."

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

The damage and silence hitbox are actually 2 seperate hitboxes--an issue that still hasn't been fixed yet. The silence comes out faster and has more range than the damaging one, albeit slightly to both regards.

SKOBODO2 votes

As much as I dislike Talon due to his poor design, I'd rather give him this buff than other buffs. So why not?

Chromatic Eagle2 votes

If people want this based on thematic reasons, shouldn't the ability 1-shot people?

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

One does not simply Hecarim Mordekaiser Nautilus Orianna Xerath Zac Thresh Cut their throats

Also Velkoz, he doesn't really have one.

Salidfingers1 votes

It just needs to be an interrupt

Lugg1 votes

I would be in favor of this if he got nerfed somewhere else. He snowballs harder than any champ in the game, he doesn't need any buffs unless he gets a corresponding nerf.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

He snowballs harder than any champ in the game

...Eh. I'm all for balancing champs. But do you really think a channel interrupt addition would warrant a nerf to like, literally anything else in his kit?

Lugg1 votes

Who would the interrupt target? Of course, he would need some type of compensation nerf, otherwise the champion he interrupted wouldn't have any counterplay against him.

Seenan1 votes

Old Talon player here.

And by old, I mean I would still play him if it didn't lead to an all AD team 90% of the time in my ELO.

A while ago, when Ashe was being reworked they suggested that Talon gets her old passive...What if they did that and added a silence? Lol jk. Too op I think.

But honestly, Talon's combo is somewhat weird in E->(AA)Q->Tiamat->W or R->W or R(->Tiamat if you didn't cast it before.)

His W is strong, but somewhat awkward unless you cast it either first or as a finisher/after his ult. Managing to cast it first means they get the long duration of the slow which means Talon's current passive comes into play if you attack in that time-frame of +10% AA damage...But Talon's not really an auto-attack-fighter. He's an assassin. You'll get 2-5 empowered autos at a decent AS (or with Youmou's) if you instantly attack when the W hits and you've casted your burst already. The only way he AA fights is when you preferably have Youmou's and/or still need to finish off the target by some rhyme or reason...But an assassin that goes completely all-in with no real escape outside of Flash shouldn't really have to auto. (Hi Zed, Ahri.....)

He'd also be a kind of solution to the constantly spammed Ahri and whoever else is an AP fotm (Annie after LW?).

I'm a bit off-topic right now, but

tl;dr I'd rather him get a better passive than his old silence back/a channel interrupt. Or both considering he's an extreme all-in champ and somewhat fore-seen by a Vision Ward if he ults. One of the fastest he can kill someone is 0.23s, similar to Rengar in that sense (0.04s)...But similar to Rengar, after that, you can just str8 kill him if he doesn't have an exit plan.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

Was a Talon main since his release but stopped once the silence removal hit. Not because he stopped being viable, but because Kassadin and a few others were way more viable at the time.

I totally remember the BF Sword stacking days. Those snowballs were real.

Only Play Darius1 votes

Yea he used to hard counter Kat but now she shits on him. Doesn't matter much since she got nerfed hard but still, he needs to have a channel interrupt.

Steel Blossom1 votes

Riven 's E-third Q-hydra-w-auto-wind slash combo has about as much counterplay as Talon's silence. Yet she gets to keep it, along with everything else in her kit. Rengar can 100-0 an ADC as soon as he appears from stealth. And have you guys seen the video of Alex Ich's Kayle oneshotting a Caitlyn ? That's lack of counterplay. Talon was honestly far from the biggest cancer in terms of no counterplay oneshot. Meanwhile we have Talon , who has a mediocre early game, uses mana, and is the ONLY true assassin with only one dash and no resets. Then we get people like Leblanc and Kassadin , who has a silence twice the length of cutthroat's silence, along with insane mobility and equally high burst. And their silences are treated the same. It never really made sense to me, as I have been on both ends of Talon's burst and silence. I still remember that one game, before Talon's silence removal, when I played blue ez vs a talon and neither of us could do shit to the other. And the thing is, I don't even play ezreal. There was no reason why I shouldn't have went 0/7, besides the fact that Talon isn't actually OP. I just gotta say, that was a dick move for Riot to take Talon's silence. A dumb move too, since without Talon's threat a bunch of people like Yasuo and Zed and Katarina and assassin Ahri and Akali and Leblanc have close to no counterplay, since nobody else had what it takes to deal with their crazy outplay potential and kill them. So then those people had to get nerfed again. It's really an unnecessary mess.

I think invisibility makes champs hard to balance. Either someone item 3341s talon or he gets out of jail free. Same situation for shaco; he has a lot of power tied in to invisibility that has to be taken into account, but the invisibility can be directly taken away.

Often these champs have low base stats to compensate for their stealth too. If a champ can both get ahead and use their invisibility they will be completely over bearing. Falling behind though means suffering from your low base stats and having more enemy vision. This can leave you with very little recourse besides build tank. This is besides the point ,I suppose.

Anyway, giving talon his interrupt back would actually remedy this because he would have more to offer his team( sometimes) if he fell behind. Just take away like 20 damage from his ult to compensate for this and then bam, healthier character.
