In defense of Riot's ban system;
We wanted a modification to solo queue and Riot tried Dynamic queue. It was fucking garbage so it was reverted.
We wanted less predictable dragon buffs (I.e. dragon buff order). We got what we asked for even if it wasn't exactly what we wanted.
We wanted 10 bans. We got them but implemented through somewhat of a bullshit filter.
Each of these have been a response to the communities requests, the difference is, Riot has its own spin on the subject and you might not agree with it, but it's not really "the wrong thing", it's just a compromise between doing what Riot thinks is best and straight up obeying the community.
If the new system fails hard enough, Riot has precedents established. I.e. they will revert (Dynamic queue, kog maw, etc.)
