now that we have made some changes to Cait traps...

can we take a look at Nidalee traps?

which function almost identically but deal less damage, have worse scaling. can be proced by minions so u cant put them at any defensible location.. provide less vision, don't root enemy champs, and don't have charges so we cant spam them down again once they are stepped on.

the ONLY thing Nidalee traps do is root jungle mobs which we can also do with our spear which has 1/3rd the cooldown and deals about 10x more damage.

and PLEASE dont try to tell me they "proc hunted" on champions like that is remotely useful...

unless the champion is :

  1. in range to pounce in on
  2. at low enough HP to pounce in on
  3. in a safe location to pounce in on that i can get the kill and get out when i do and 4.. stupid enough to step on a perfectly visible trap ...

procing hunted on them wont do shit

now im not say we should have them root champs. im not saying we should have necessarily give them charges..

but to be able to place them in a minion wave.. or be able to use them for scouting.. or at LEAST have them do % damage again, so we don't have people goign out of their way to step on them and then proceed to spam the laugh animation... and YES that has happened to me on multiple occasions...

can we do SOMETHING?? PLEASE??

I mean, they also do things when Nidalee isn't right next to them. And even if you don't proc it, you do get a near-global 30% speed buff. Honestly, Caitlyn traps ARE stronger than Nidalee traps. But that's not super important: what matters is if Caitlyn is stronger than Nidalee, not how their power budgets are distributed among their skills. Nidalee has six skills: it's natural that each is weaker than Caitlyn's four on an individual level.

actually the speed buff is only when moving TOWARD them champ that your proc hunted on.

and yes they do will provide vision of a champ if they step on a trap (assuming thier not cloaked likeEvelynn Twitch orRengar )

but they really dont have much use.

you say cait had 4 skills well how many does nidalee have?

in human form she has a spear a heal and a trap (and im not goign tot count the traps as that is what we are considering to be worthless)

so 2 human skills

in cougar form she has 3 skills pounce takedown and swipe.

thats 5 skills and none of them are ultimates if we dont include the traps. 6 if we include the traps.

except cougar skills gain power level based on your ultimate lvl

where as human skills have power based on the skill level.

traps are worthless at ALL skill levels. and the only reason they are even LEARNED during the first 3 levels is to use pounce. i would MUCH rather put another point in my spear or heal than in traps.. the ONLY reason we even GET traps to for access to pounce.

i dont want them to be as strong as cait traps.. nor do i want them to be identical to cait traps..

i think rooting players would be OP if they could be placed in a creep wave.

in fact i think cait traps are a tad bit too strong atm. but thats only becuase they have charges AND can be played in creep waves AND root.

all i really want nid traps to do is get their % hp back and maybe their vision.. the traps on the nid rework were balanced perfectly... capped at 200 damage vs monsters with a 10% HP + 2% per lvl and a 0.02% AP scaling.

they were perfect... and then when they let nid jungle instead of lowered the cap of 200 to 40 or 50 they lowered the entire damage to 20. i mean they ALREADY had a pre-existing damage cap vs jungle mobs.. WHY didn't they just lower it... why rework the whole thing?

Let's just start off with the fact that you decided to start the comparison of how many skills the two have by just ignoring one. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't count. If you consider that Cougar form skills level with ranks in her ultimate, you could say that her ultimate is just three skills in one, available from level one.

That aside, you're still comparing traps to traps: they're not the same thing. On release, Nidalee was too strong: balanced champions don't completely dominate the jungle meta for six months. In order to make her weaker, while maintaining her spear-chucking, fast-clearing identity, they took some power out of her traps.

lets split up your post

idk about you but those certainly sound like the same thing to me...

On release, Nidalee was too strong: balanced champions don't completely dominate the jungle meta for six months.

what on earth do u mean "on release" i started playing nidalee in season 3 and she has been my main since season 3 she got a rework in season 4 and she wasn't able to jungle until season 5. infact i was the person how made the thread that said: nidalee's lore is all about her being born in the jungle.. WHY cant she jungle. to which end i will never forgive myself

and when they DID let her jungle all they did was have her traps proc hunted on monsters are root them.

In order to make her weaker, while maintaining her spear-chucking, fast-clearing identity, they took some power out of her traps.

so your saying that to nerf nidalee they took nidalee WORST skill that was already useless for almost everything.. and removed ALL functionality from it.

when i say nid was balanced it was because she WAS balanced before riot decided to screw everything up by letting her jungle

nid was balanced becuase she was viable TOP AND MID and to some extent support.

she was viable both AD and AP, bruiser, mage, and assassin

and in NONE of those roles was she OP.

if that isn't a balanced champion then NOTHING is.

i want her traps to be better, yes... im proposing riot do what they SHOULD have done to start with.. lower the cap on her % hp from 200 to 40 on monsters.

Just looking at pro play, the NIdalees there almost always start with the traps. I know pro play isn't a fantastic representation of what a champion is like for the average players, but they clearly think the ability is good enough to get first. It's obviously not useless.

Even after the trap change that you seem to hate so much, she was still nerfed twice after that. SOMEONE thought she was too strong.

If Nidalee's traps were to become stronger, she'd have to lose power from somewhere else; where would you want it taken from?

The fact they can be proc'd by minions is what makes her that much more viable in the jungle.

they dont proc hunted on minion waves.. im sure they can program them to not be triggered on minion waves either.. that cant be too hard

hell if they DID proc hunted on minion waves that might be USEFUL

it wouldn't be the change i would really want... but it would at least be an improvement

Basically all it does is proc hunted and provide some bush control

Nidalee is supposed to be a hunter. Place a trap in a bush, when the enemy steps on it throw a spear then pounce them and they are dead. Super fun.

Truly Prideful1 votes

Nidalee also has no trap limit and her traps do damage on their own. Nidalee's traps aren't even meant to serve the same purpose. Nidalee uses her traps to track enemies or clear the jungle, Cait uses her traps to siege or block choke points. The only similarity they even have is that they are traps.

False. Cait's traps no longer do any damage at all. Stop complaining.
